The owners of Artisans Restaurant have created a place unlike any other. The vast working kitchen is in the middle of the restaurant, with views from every seat in the building. The culinary team works like an orchestra, where their composer is the owner/executive chef and they work in unison to create art for their audience consistently while paying attention to every detail.

Amazing as always!! Tried something new and we were delighted as usual!
We love Artisans and this time really enjoyed your time with a Grace. She took great care of us and was super sweet and attentive. Never a bad experience at this restaurant. I highly recommend.
Food was fantastic service was great
We all tried the 6 course with wine pairings and were not disappointed! One of our friends dining with us has a fish allergy, and the waiter quickly suggested “alternate” dishes for her without blinking an eye! Service was spectacular! It was a little noisy, which made visiting across the table a little difficult.
Too expensive for the value. Lobster bisque was excellent. Chicken was fantastic.
Very average. Nothing special on the menu.
Food wasn't as good as the price....
I was very happy, as were my guests. Pricey, but worth it. 😎
This was our first of many visits to Artisans. From the moment we walked into the restaurant until we left, service was absolutely great and we will back again soon.
A wonderful dining experience! Over the top service! The lobster bisque is a must!
Food well prepared and tasty; some was tepid and some was hot. Waiter was basically not at home, nor even his assistants. No attention from the maitre'd. All of this was in stark contrast to our prior visits. We will certainly go again soon, but a black mark on this occasion.
Outstanding food and service! We really enjoyed our dinner here and will definitely be back.
Best French food in Houston by far! My husband ordered the 6 course meal and everything served was superb! The bread came out hot and was sooooo good with butter! Escargot was super delicious. We are putting this restaurant on our list to come back again.
Good food and service. No complaints
The food was so so for how pricey it is. Me and my husband ordered the Chilean sea bass, mine was cooked but my husbands was undercooked. They made him a new one but didn’t discount our bill or offer a desert for the inconvenience. We won’t be giving it another try.
Peppercorn steak is delicious
Fabulous food, great service, authentic French cuisine.
An outstanding dinner from start to finish. Warmly greeted. Great decor & ambiance. Nice wine list. The food was outstanding -- one of the best meals we've had, and we eat at high-end restaurants across the US and Europe. And the chef came outside as we left to check with us and make sure we enjoyed the meal. My wife & I were impressed, as were the couple with us (who also dine globally). We will DEFINITELY be back again & again.
Absolutely great meal! The restaurant is very high end and romantic on the inside and parking was quick and at a good value given the location ($5 valet). The menu has something for everyone and we got the scallops, smoked salmon and lobster bisque for appetizers... all were outstanding. We also shared the sea bass which is as amazing as all of the other reviewers say it is. The food in general is a little heavy but what French food isn't. The only negative (and not really a negative) was that the restaurant was only about 10% occupied when we got there at 8PM which was surprising given how great the experience was. We will definitely be back to try out more of the menu!
Tasteless and overcooked
Has a lovely time with my girlfriends before a show
We did the 6 course chef tasting menu with wine pairings, arriving at 5:30 due to a theater engagement at 7:30.
The service was impeccable. Even more importantly, each dish was thoughtfully crafted in terms of flavor and color combinations, texture and presentation. The red fish dish and the lamb were both spectacular! Highly recommended!
Artisans was disappointing on so many levels, especially after the great reviews I've read in a variety of places. The ambience was so dark it was hard to see the menu, cocktails arrived from the bar at room temperature rather than chilled, and it was like the staff and kitchen had no idea what to do with requests for gluten free items. At the first attempt to get a gluten free alternative for the escargot, which were delicious, our server returned with less "yeasty" bread, which still has gluten! Our entrees were subpar as well. There are much better french restaurants in Houston, this one doesn't need a return visit.
The food was exceptional. I had the six course meal with wine paring and it was perfect. We did have to wait for awhile before the waiter came to the table. However, the rest of the experience made up for the wait.
We ate at Artisans Feb 28 2019 (2 people). We were seated at a small table even thought the place was never close to full during the evening. The food was average to above average. I had eaten here twice in the past. The duck pate was on the small side and the extras that were ordered with it showed up without the quail. The sea bass was great. The lamb main dish was very average. We were not offered the usual post meal bon bon that is typical. The service was without a doubt below average. The valet service was also not up to what one would expect at this type of establishment. Overall, for the money, I have to say that this particular eating experience was a disappointment. The little things really do matter. If I had not been on a second date I might have been more of an AH about things but it should not have been necessary.
Not a bad place to come. Food was ok. Ordered steak tartare and it was nice and red on outside and brown on inside. Told waiter about it and he came back about 15 minutes later and told us that the chef says that meat oxides and that why it’s brown. I never in my entire eating experiences have I encountered tartare that was brown. We also had the bisque which was ok. Nothing was wow. I guess after the steak tartare things didn’t seem right. Glad the place was empty because it took a long time for food to come out. I think only 4 tables were seated. Long story short, we probably would be back again. There’s other French restaurants in town that we’ve been at that are so much better 4-5 star. Overall it’s probably a 2 1/2 star restaurant.
Once again, Artisans was excellent. The food was delicious. The wine list is extensive with very good wines at reasonable prices. And especially, the service and personal treatment were fantastic. Merci, Jacques and your team. We will be back.
Love this restaurant!!! Food and presentation are excellent! This was my second time, but first for dinner!
Artisan is on our regular rotation because it is always great!
Great food! Great atmosphere!
Overall disappointing experience. Requested steak to be cooked medium and it was rare. After notifying the waiter of the issue, he took the plate back to the kitchen where they just cooked the same steak a little longer so it can be medium and brought that same steak back out. I do not think that was right and they should have replaced it and comped the meal. Will not return.
Had anniversary dinner here with my wife, very romantic setting. Great staff and delicious food. Will be recommending this place.
Disappointed on speed of service seem as they were short staff. From order to paying took 2hr to complete.
I've eaten here over 20 times and have NEVER had a bad meal. This was sort of a "make up" Valentines day night, and the restaurant was very crowded. Our waiter had more stations then perhaps he could manage and each station had lots of dinners, as a consequence he was rarely able to stop in (as waiters here usually do) and inquire about every last little detail of the meal. That said, the crowd did not stop the amazingly charming and caring owner from visiting with us and giving us butter smoked oysters! It was lovely! You immediately feel happy! Over all the food was good, but my main, port braised short ribs was not tasty. The sauce (a key flavor with the slow cooked beef) was essentially a jus, and not a port wine reduction, as a consequence the beef (beautifully tender) was fairly flavorless and the goat cheese potatoes were the star of the plate.
We will be back, we do love this Resturant!
This is the WORST dining experience I have had in Houston. Artisans should be embarrassed to call themselves a fine dining restaurant. I was really looking forward to trying Artisans and booked a table to celebrate a romantic post-Valentine date with my husband. The main restaurant was full so we got seated in one of their other rooms. It was a banquet room, with no saving graces. I ordered a glass of the Rose champagne and got a glass of flat wine - no bubbles in sight. If you are vegetarian I suggest going elsewhere...there were no tasting menu options for me, the vegetarian. I had a tasteless, cold goat cheese starter where the pastry was at least a day old (yuck!!). My vegetarian platter main was also poorly season and to add insult to injury, the plate was brought to my table without the egg on it! Nobody came to let me know this will be the case. I had to ask for the egg when somebody came to the table to let me know they had run out of eggs. This place had no redeeming qualities and I will certainly not recommend Artisans!
Such a great place! Excellent food and service. Sitting at the kitchen bar is always fun, particularly on a busy night like this one.
Awesome! It was great!
Me and my girlfriend showed up late to our own reservation which was supposed to be at 10:30, and the entire staff still treated us with respect and patience. I wasn’t rushed at all, the menu was explained to us perfectly and in detail. Our waitress was really kind to us and stayed until we finished our meal patiently, didn’t seemed rushed and remained professional. This experience has made this my #1 go to restaurant for a relaxing, enjoyable dinner. Side note: Food was not cold either considering the kitchen should have been closed already and freshly prepared as well as the bread, freshly made for us before our dinner. Food was AMAZING.
