This meal was an overpriced disappointment for my friend and me. We got the two course set price menu, and neither of us were satisfied with our meal. The gazpacho was strange color, and strangely spiced, and this impression comes from someone who has done a significant amount of high-end gourmet cooking at home. The gnocchi were slathered in a tasteless sauce with the consistency of wallpaper paste. I doubt will be returning. Thanks this meal was an overpriced disappointment for my friend and me. Love the place ! They kicked us out at 7 pm - the service was slow and we had to cancel our dessert order
fabulous birthday dinner celebration? Great food, service and setting!
Great outdoor venue. Excellent service
Just fabulous. Food, service, atmosphere. Just a 10/10.
Good meal almost ruined by banquette cushions covered in food stains. They need to fix this or not offer it to customers.
Hostess was not very welcoming. Outdoor table was fold out and small. Food was great!
Hostess was terrible, servers were way overextended. All of the tables around us were laughing about it. Been there a couple times - won’t be going back for a while.
We had an reservation, It took 45 min for our waitress to greet us. When she did come it seemed as if we were an intrusion not a welcomed guest. The food was just okay, not great. Lobster roll had too much bread and not enough lobster.
Delicious food and wonderful service! Would definitely recommend
Great American/French upscale cuisine. I always love going to this place. The terrace/garden is so gorgeous!! Snag a table there if you can.
Fantastic food, quite exactly what I was looking for
The good: We liked the ambience of the outdoor patio and garden with abundant herbs, bright flowers, funky lanterns in the trees, and hedges that give you a sense of privacy and hide the busyness of Blueback Square. The bread was delicious (tough crust, but yummy stretchy inside and great flavor). The salads were enjoyable although not stand-out-- reeeally liked the crispy fried goat cheese on top of the salad of the same name; otherwise both that salad and the superfood salad were enjoyable but not exceptional. The french fries were very good! The coleslaw that came with the lobster roll was decent, too.
The bad: Artisan's menu is so well written, but its food doesn't live up to the words on the page. The lobster roll was a letdown-- they do a butter rather than a mayo salad, and the brioche sucked up all the butter, leaving the modest amount of lobster in the roll quite dry. Scottish salmon with fiddleheads (only two tiny fiddleheads, by the way) was poorly prepared. The campanelle primavera and wild ramp pesto was not unpleasant but the problem is that it wasn't *good.* Unimpressive flavor; barely any of the promised vegetables in it; the "roasted tomatoes" turned out to be pale, finely diced and flavorless like the tomatoes you'd find in a school cafeteria. Bottom line is that the menu is a gourmet reading experience but way below a gourmet eating experience.
There were some awkward points about the service, too: the host didn't greet us or say a word as he looked up our reservation; servers cleared the places of two guests while the third guest was still eating. Then brought a surprise birthday desert--ice cream, which melts-- out to that guest while she was still eating her lobster roll. Then dropped the check in front of the birthday guest, again while she was still eating her dinner. Many nearby tables of the same size were empty, but if they really had some reason to rush us out, it would have felt more appropriate to give us a verbal heads up.
great service and food. Patio is nice, very cool to be among the vegetables, but being early in the growing season the garden was a little sparse. Could use some attention to make it nice to look at all year round.
Apps were great, we got the seafood ciopinno for our meal and felt it was small and a little lackluster for the price. Would try again with other menu items. Staff was great and was a nice afternoon dinner.
Great night! Unfortunately, the bad weather kept us from dining in the beautiful outdoor space.
Artisan is one of my favorite restaurants— hands down the prettiest garden dining. We sat under the awning on a cold dreary evening and the waitstaff turned on the heaters and the service was excellent. I ordered the scallop entree for $33. I’m a light eater, but the portion was ridiculously meager — 4 tiny scallops, 3 tiny new potatoes and microscopic carrot slivers. It was delicious but I could not believe how small the portion was; my companion had the salmon; a normal size portion. Other than that, another wonderful evening at Artisan.
Was seated outside even though it was raining and not offered inside seat. Had to complain and then was given an indoor seat. Food was good but somewhat undercooked
The location is great. Service friendly but not too professional. The menu descriptions very interesting but execution lacked a bit. Overall, a pleasant evening because of the ambiance but overpriced for the quality of the food. The wine list was great and reasonably priced.
It was quiet and we enjoyed the ambiance immensely.
We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience with friends. We spent a leisurely 2 1/2 hours and the staff was great. They were responsive when needed but did not rush us. Our meals and appetizers were all delicious and prepared per our orders.
Menu has something for everyone. Delicious and fresh.
The atmosphere was great, the table we got for the 5 of us was perfect!!! The food and drink value not so great, the scallop dish for 33$ came with 3 scallops
We had dinner here to celebrate our anniversary. We were not rushed and our waitress, Victoria, was fantastic. She was very friendly and helpful. The cheese board was terrific as was the halibut entree.
They struggled with or meals. We sent 2 back but they did credit us for our meals.
Great dining experience. Wish we were greeted quicker but overall great night.
Was disappointed that our table was in the bar.
Excellent service coupled with outstanding food in a nice atmosphere in the garden made for a terrific night out.
Amazing food, service and setting. Beautiful location for lunch or dinner.
I booked a birthday dinner for my husband at Artisan and it was a disaster. We waited an 45 min at our table with no service. At one point we considered just leaving. We had to tell the hostess that we didn’t have a server. You would think that would have expedited things, but we waited another 10 min for the waitress to show up and another 10 min for our first drink. Over an hour to get our first drink, so Brutal!!! Food was so so. Will not return.
We were very dissapointed. After seeing lots of social media posts of their food we had high expectations for an amazing meal. Unfortunately both the food and service were a miss. Service was slow and inattentive, no offer of cocktail refills and 40 minutes after ordering to get our apps. App plates still on the table when our entrees arrived. Scallop entree had one peewee potato cut into quarters and one radish also cut into quarters. Our server forgot we ordered dessert and asked a second time after we had already put our order in. Dessert (Bete Noir) was a miss with macerated raspberries on top. The hostess and food runner were the only friendly, personable faces we encountered and while the ambiance was beautiful we won’t be visiting again.
Despite multiple outdoor tables they wouldn’t seat us outside despite first come first serve policy
Good evening. I am sorry we were not able to accommodate you outdoor. Our table outdoor are first come first serve based on reservation (as mentioned on the website).
We went here in September and was the last time we went out to dinner until now so decided to come back. It was 100% different. It just was not good. Service was fine, but the food was just bad. September, it was amazing. Not sure what happened.
Once we were sat we waited for over 20 mins just to get a server. The restaurant didn't seem overly busy to wait that long. A kind server that didn't have our table/section ended up being our server. She was very good even know she probly had 1/2 of the rear section. The food was good but not knock your socks off. If I was to go back I would definitely want to sit outside in their nice seating section.
Might be a little more then most restaurants in the area but it is sooo worth it. The ambiance is gorgeous inside and out, the food is so tasty and perfectly paired. The bartender truly knows how to makes cocktails... we were impressed with everything, I think this business has only gotten better through the years 🤘🏼
As always, outstanding service, food and value!!
Fabulous location, great food, great service
It was a very enjoyable lunch. We loved the meal and the setting. We will be back!
The outdoor garden seating is the best outdoor dining experience in West Hartford. Food was delicious and fresh and service was lovely. It is never disappointing to dine at Artisan.
Went to our favorite place for Mother’s Day dinner, and the staff at Artisan didn’t fail us! Every time we go there, we feel like family. Victoria was our waitress and she took great care of us. It was great to see all the staff we know - Olivier, Janira, Alex and all the staff that we missed during the pandemic slowdown. Looking forward to heading back and spending the weekend at the Delmar and dinner at the Artisan later this month. Our happy place for a reason, because they go out of their way to take care of you!
