My partner and I haven’t been on a date since the city shut down in March. We also have two daughters and I’ve been blessed to be home with them 24/7 as I am a DOE employee. We live in East Harlem and I personally haven’t been past 86th Street. I was looking a for rooftop dining location but everything was booked and then I came across this little place on West 73rd Street through OpenTable. My partner is iffy about dining in the street, like the actual street, especially he rides his bike to work, so when I saw that Arte had its own storefront patio, I immediately jumped on the opportunity to make a reservation. It was also pretty last minute that we got the night off from the kids, so coming across this little gem was a godsend. We ordered the Lychee Martini and The Old Fashion, omg - delicious. Both drinks was awesome, but that Old Fashion was the best ones I’ve ever had. For appetizers, we ordered the calamari and rice balls - yummy. As entrees, we ordered the Spaghetti Carbonara and the Skirt Steak - very yummy. Those dishes hit the spot. We then ended the evening with cappuccinos. Overall, this place gave us, parents of two who hardly go out, everything we wanted. Also, the place is located off a main avenue, so it was quiet even though every table was full at 9:45pm. Thanks for a wonderful evening.
My first time eating out in NYC since everything started opening again and was so pleasantly surprised to be seated in the back patio of Arte Cafe. Very spacious with a tent and nice lights and bamboo trees blowing in the breeze. Was very relieved to not feel like someone else was right on top of me like some of the new outdoor set ups. Eggplant parm was excellent. Branzino was very small portion with just a few roasted vegetables, a bit overwhelming as an entree for the price. I enjoyed the ambiance so much that I will return with 5 friends for dinner this week!
Very busy Saturday evening. The host was extremely nice and attentive and made for a nice evening for us. See u again soon! Thanks
Always great. They have done a fantastic job with their outdoor dining set up. It’s on a nice , quiet side street. Food is good too!
I made a reservation for the out door garden to celebrate a friends birthday. Lovely ambience. The food was fair. The orecchiette lacked real flavor and the pasta was overcooked. The chicken Parmesan was dry and the sauce was lacking. Although I made it clear when making the reservation that this was a birthday celebration, at no point were we offered cake or tiramisu. Rather disappointed.
Great atmosphere. Great service., including Marco ,& Ernesto.
Big disappointment! We used to go there regularly, and like many places, chances are the cooks have changed, and the wait staff certainly has (our waitress had trouble carrying a tray). Ordered glass of red wine, which was very warm and very sour. Wondered if the bottle had been sitting open since the restaurants closed in March. Waitress was not gracious about changing it. My daughter ordered orecchetti with anchovies and olives, and it was so salty that she couldn't eat it. She didn't send it back, after the wine experience, but it made us not want to return--ever! Also, the chairs and tables on the street in various configurations and sizes were uniformly uncomfortable. Our chairs were high and came to mid-thigh, very uncomfortable, and next to a man in a low, flimsy plastic chair leaned back and ended up on the sidewalk, hitting his head.
One of our favorite neighborhood places - so happy to have them back open and their outdoor dining option is one of the best around while we have to remain dining outdoors.
Arte Cafe has always been a favorite of the 3 of us who ate there the other night. That night was a transition to opening on the street, so it's fair to say they were still getting used to that setting, and it looked like they had a number of new staff. That said, everyone was very pleasant and worked hard and we look forward to going back--indoors or outdoors!
Always great food - neighborhood vibe
Dining outside in their Phase 3 setup was nice. Servers wore their masks and were very attentive. The food was pretty good, not great.
Wonderful food and service. Lovely outdoor seating that is not right on a busy street. Highly recommend for a delightful meal.
Outdoor dining was very pleasant and nicely done.
Food was just adequate. Salad was overdressed.
Great food and service as always. Super polite managers and attentive servers.
Very crowded, table by the door, late deliver of food to
2 out of 4!
Must be a new Chef. The Linguini Vingole rather bland tasting and few clams. The Pizza with Prosciutto & Arugula, Arugula very sparse and the dough bland too
We were offered seating in a desolate side room even though the restaurant was empty and asked for a table in the main section only to find that we had to move again halfway through the meal due to a procession of waiters knocking into us as they passed. The food was unappetising, most of what we ordered being uneaten. A pity as I have had good meals there in the past!
Arte Cafe has been our neighborhood restaurant of choice for over 15 years. Great ambiance, friendly staff and excellent food.
Tried minestrone rather than the salad- was delicious!!
My wife and I went to Arte Cafe three times. The quality of the food and of the service were consistently excellent. The pasta dishes we tried were outstanding, especially the lasagna. The veal piccata is also great. It is not cheap, but prices are reasonable compared to other comparable options in the UWS. If you are up for an early dinner -- or a very very late lunch -- the prix fixe option is a bargain by NYC standards. Highly recommended.
Prices low for PRIX FIXE but non descriptive
Like a diner
Getting tired of same menu!!
Thank you to everyone. We were a big group for brunch celebrating my mother’s 65th. I had a 2 year old running around. Everyone was so patient and gracious.
There was an extensive menu with appealing choices, which were well prepared. .
The prices were extremely reasonable, so there was good value for the price, and the service was excellent..
My appetizer was cold and entree was warm not hot. I had sirloin steak this time the size was much smaller than 2 weeks ago
Disappointed...restaurant wasn't busy and my Chicken Piccata was served luke warm and had obviously been sitting under the heat lamp for a while.
Food is delicious, drinks are affordable, service is friendly and efficient, Management Team very friendly and aims to please! This is my "go to" home away from home!
We love Arte café. Great service and delicious food
Delicious food in a lovely setting where conversation can actually take place!
The food in this restaurant was exceptional, I would recommend to all. Very Authentic.
Food was awesome.
Thanks for a wonderful evening! Our server Wilson was great!
We gave the UWS location another try after having a fantastic experience at the Chelsea location. Although we ordered the same exact dishes (Stinco d'Agnello and Tagliata al Tagliere), they were not as satisfying, somehow the execution is better at the Chelsea location.
My only complaint about the service is that it took ONE HOUR to get our food!
Lovely restaurant with really good solid Italian food. We had the arugula salad and pasta. The arugula salad was refreshing and flavorful. It was not drowning in dressing and was topped with sweet thinly sliced pear. The gnocchi were hand made with a light fluffy texture. Overall very good.
Great location. Very comfortable dining room. Food is consistently excellent. Service is consistently extremely poor. We keep going back for the food and convenience. Asked multiple times for bread to no avail. While staff is plentiful they are focused on getting food and drink orders with little follow up as to any additional needs. Had to track down a waiter just to ask for a check. People at the table next to ours were practically in tears repeatedly asking for a check so they could make an appointment only to be consistently ignored.
Excellent value & food
