The new room to dine in made the experience much nicer. It was quiet and so pleasant. Excellent overall.
This is one of my favorite restaurants when I was working on the upper west side. All terrific food. And nice things about the neighborhood gem: they seat you even though your whole party is arriving separately (we had a party of 6 which arrive in three different times); there is no time limit as to how long you stay at your table, so you can visit and eat and drink at your leisure...very civilized! And did I mention....the food is terrific!
Arte Cafe has become our go to local restaurant. Its large and varied menu offers food choices for all, from varied appetizers to pasta and pizza and second courses. The restaurant has an extensive wine list, even when ordered by the glass - e.g., Nero d’Avola. The main room provided a cozy atmosphere on what was a cold night outdoors. Portions are substantial, and tables situated far enough apart to offer some reassurance during the pandemic.
Thanksgiving. Understandably the food was prepared ahead but the salad was wilted , the pasta was lukewarm and the turkey and fixings lukewarm as well. Everything was tasty but would have been great served properly. The dessert was very bad, gelatinous, weird. We complained to the kind and generous manager and were compensated.
Being that it was thanksgiving with a fixed menu and limited regular menu we didn’t get a true flavor of the place. Slightly disorganized and the kitchen was overwhelmed. Our server was friendly. I’m glad we had no expectations.
Not our first time dining at Arte Cafe, but the first time for Thanksgiving. The food was fabulous, I will dream about those pumpkin ravioli. However, even better than the food was the amazing service. Everyone we encountered was friendly and helpful. The place was packed and yet we never felt rushed.
This was a lovely place to eat. It was definitely busy, and there were some snafu's with the food coming out all at once, but it was understandable considering the holiday. We had a nice time and we appreciated the kind staff taking care of us. We would definitely recommend and come back!
It was Thanksgiving and it was packed no empty tables. The staff was
really hustling. The food was perfect. The wine great. No one rushed us.
Felt lucky to get our reservation here, made plans to come to the city at the very last minute. The service for my table was very slow, no fault of the waiter, I think the kitchen was overwhelmed, I on the other hand, had all day. Food was very tasty, they make a good martini and I am thrilled for all restaurants who are bustling with business!
Date with the wife at the bar was great, thank you!
A great resturant. A great atmosphere. However, the merlot was too expensive and tasted horrible.
Love this place! Food very good, outdoor garden lovely and service as well as staffing allows during these hard times.
There was a mix up and 1/2 my party was seated outside while the rest of us were on the back patio. It was a very awkward 20 minutes that could have been easily avoided by a more attentive staff.
Very good service and food. Manager visited out table and thanked us for loyalty
and patronage. That was an appreciated personal touch.
Rez for 7:45pm, they didn’t have a table ready until 8:20pm. So they offered a table outside (42 deg F) and claimed that rez still being honored accurately because outside table was offered at 7:45pm. Claimed that OpenTable does not specify outdoor or indoor, so they offer were offering outdoor and “on time”.
The service we had was extraordinary ! We will definitely be returning for the good pasta dishes.
Great ambience and very popular, but understaffed. We waited over 30 minutes after being seated for a waiter, and ended up being taken care of by the owner. Tony was great and he is suffering from under trained staff like most NYC restaurants.
Food was excellent, and we were with good friends so 3 hour dinner experience was fine.
Nice neighborhood place!
It was a nice experience . Service was great , food was ver good and the ambiance was perfect !!!
The side room acoustics are terrible and the decor quite bleak.
Wide variety of food choices--something for everybody. The table spacing is excellent for people nervous about Covid.
Dinner with my niece
Had a great time at Arte Cafe! Great brunch deal with delicious food and great service.
We frequent arte cafe regularly, and supported Arte during the pandemic. My husband and I rented out the entire back yard for a birthday celebration in July.
I was very disappointed in the service tonight. We waited 1 hour 45 minutes to get entrees, at a time when the restaurant was 2/3 full. Nobody came by to check until the 90 minute point, at which (understandably), I was upset and the offer of more wine was quite insulting! We would have appreciated an update on the kitchen situation at the 45 minute point.
It is not about the bill, but I feel that we should not have had to pay. The only reason why I even felt moved to make that threat was that the offers of wine and discounts came after I got upset. If the staff had come by 45 or even 1 hour from time of order (8pm) and given us an update on the kitchen situation, it would have been more palatable. We were served at 9.45pm and the pasta was hot and cold in spots. Steak and pizza were fine
I apologize for my heated reaction to your waitress' offer of wine (btw tipped her generously! but I remain very disappointed in the service 11/6.
I can't return until things improve.
The food was great, but the service was extremely slow, waited at 30 minutes before a waitress even came to our table. Took over 2.5 hours for the meal, when we were looking for a quick meal as many at our table of six were running the marathon the next day.
Awful horrible service.
They didn’t have our reservation finally found it and gave us a very small table We asked to be moved and we were
But with an attitude
Wonderful restaurant. Excellent food, staff and ambiance.
We had a 5:15 reservation on a Saturday evening (which we made 1.5 weeks in advance and asked for the back patio then). We requested the back patio again upon arriving, but it was taking 30 mins to be seated so we asked for an outdoor booth on the street. We had 2 small kids and needed to eat early for the marathon. Unfortunately while I understand many businesses have suffered during Covid, this restaurant doesn’t have enough staff to support the expanded outside tables. We waited 1.5 hours for our dinner and the kids needed to go to bed. My suggestion is to get more staff, pay them enough, and be able to serve all the expanded tables outside. Waiting 2 hours to eat dinner when you make an early reservation is silly. Disappointed.
Went here for a birthday. Food was great! Would 100% come back.
Sat down at my table at 7:30 , did not receive my meal until 20 past 9pm. Unacceptable. Manager did take notice, apologized and delivered a few desserts for my family. May have been a one-off , will return as everything else including ambiance was nice.
Arte Cafe was very careful to seat people far apart. We had beet salad and eggplant parmigiana. Both were delicious. The wait staff was great.
Celebrated younger daughter's bday. The staff brought out champagne and juice for us all to toast in champagne glasses (kids loved this!), gave us yummy to-go cookies, and had an amazing sparkler on daughter's dessert. Amazing service as always. A+ food as well. We were one of only 2 parties eating outside (random Tuesday evening), so also super quiet!
I am so sorry that the service void effected our evening. We literally had to ask for everything brought to the table to multiple people. I know labor is a huge issue in hospitality/ food service. Sadly I think that lack of experience and lack of interest in quality added real stress to our big night out
Both the food and the service were great! We would definitely go back again.
The food was delicious! Service was great. The added touch of Bruschetta and a chocolate chip cookie ‘on the house’ was really awesome.
Everything was fabulous, they made my friends bday very special! Gorgeous back patio, so fun!
We sat outside because inside was too noisy. We were celebrating a 41st wedding anniversary. The high top table was fine. The waiter made sure it was not tippy. We were not rushed. Very pleased.
Wonderful place to which we enjoy going all the time!
Salmon requested well done came medium rare.
