Arte Cafe - Upper West Side

It was Columbus Day and the restaurant was nicely busy. There was only one waiter and he did an excellent job waiting on all the tables. He was patient and attentive even though he was alone (except for the bus boys. The food was delicious and the surroundings were nice. All in all we had a great time and enjoyed our meal.
Generally very pleased with my my meal but the salmon was disappointing this time.
Been to the restaurant a number of times and like it however on this occasion they did not honor our reservation and did not have a table for us for over 40 minutes.
We sat and ate at the bar.
Computer issues were blamed for our poor service and overdone dinner...pork chop was actually scallopini ..dry and overcooked..
A great neighborhood place, and it shows, because it seemed that the whole neighborhood was there on Saturday night! Despite the full house, the place never feels that crowded nor that noisy. It's a wonderful place with wonderful food and a very accommodating staff.
Nice neighborhood Italian dining.
Great food , cozy atmosphere and wonderful service !
Reliable neighborhood Italian for decades now. Particularly good value priced luncheon specials.
Really great restaurant, can count of consistency and pleasant exoerience..
Extremely noisy which made it very difficult to enjoy the meal. The food was very good and the waiter was doing his best with the amount of tables he was assigned. There was a group of five who were exceptionally loud, yet the manager did nothing to ask them to tone it down.
Arte Cafe was wonderful! The service was excellent - just enough time between courses - and attentive. Our waters were filled frequently. The portions were a good size and the food delicious. The waitress brought us small after-dinner drinks, compliments of the restaurant. I plan to go here again.
When I find myself on the Upper West Side, Arte Cafe is my go-to choice. I like the menu choices, and the service is great. Friendly staff, good wine and food.
We had the prefix dinner, which included an appetizer, entre, and dessert, for $18. The portions were generous and the food was delicious. Service was prompt and flawless.
We are always greeted and treated as old friends when we arrive. Attentive wait staff and the food never fails to amaze. Prix fixe menus make this restaurant a must.
We had to wait 45 minutes for our plates to come. Excuse was that they were having a private event (which they have all the time)
Arte Cafe is one of the best values on the UWS. The food is reliable and typically quite tasty. The menu is broad so there's something for everyone, including kids. They have a lot of space so it feels spacious including 2 options for outdoor seating when the weather is nice. The only issue is the slow service. Took a loooong time to get our food. And there's no reason for a restaurant not to have salt and pepper on the table. The fresh pepper mill is always a nice tough, but not when you have to wait for someone to bring it to you.
Great service and Halibut Special was great. I pasta chicken and vodka sauce.
We have been to Arte cafe many times and continue to do so BUT in the future I shall check to see if you have any large parties. The noise level was bad and you didn’t have enough staff working.
Service was really slow
Food was average better during the week w the lunch special
Sunday brunch omelette was really average
Slow service - eggs over cooked. Great tiramisu
Food was exceptionally delayed (50 mins) and there wasn’t a proper apology or explanation as to why
Good Italian food, cocktails, service and atmosphere. We will be back.
Never disappointed enjoying brunch. Great service delicious food. The bottle of mimosas is must. We'll be be back soon.
Nice experience. Wait staff was very attentive. Food was tasty. Red snapper special was a big hit.
Enjoyed the prix fixe menu at lunchtime. A great value.
Used to love this place, and went there often. Last time was just so-so and decided to give another try. Hadn't been there for awhile. We'd assumed that they'd do brunch on Labor Day Monday, but they really didn't. Food and service were o.k. but not like they used to be. Their usual excellent panini weren't on offer, and the two alternative sandwiches were boring/tasteless.
Very good value, friendly place, I like the Parma Prosciutto with extra arugula, short ribs, spaghetti bolognese,
Excellent value and the food is excellent. I love that the lunch menu doesn't end until 6 PM. The 'happy hour' at the bar is also something I do quite often. The place is quiet, at least until about 6 PM which when I usually leaving. Waiters are very pleasant, but occasionally you might have to remind one of them that they forgot to bring you something you asked for. But I'll certainly be going back again. And again.
Poached eggs & Eggs Benedict eggs overcooked - everything else was fine
Great food, great staff, little expensive but worth it!
Amazing atmosphere and Amazing service was excellent.
Can always depend on the consistency ..the great food and great service. Continues to be my/our number 1 choice in the neighborhood, the Upper Westside/Lincoln Center. Has great restaurant environment, and the entire staff is professional AND pleasant. We tried other restaurants in the area, but always come back to ARTE!!
We enjoy Arte Cafe and dine there on a regular basis. It is always full of energy and NY noisy. We know this. The problem for us at this visit was that there was a group of about a dozen extremely noisy people having a party (?) in the main room of the restaurant. They seemed to have no awareness that they were in a public space and that there were other people there besides themselves. The restaurant could have given them tables in a private room or another section. The noise was absolutely unacceptable. One of our friends left and waited outside because the sound was unbearable for him.
They were out of all the good champagne and blamed the distributors for being closed for 3 weeks. This is Manhattan...get it together and if you are going to advertise champagne at a great price...have it in stock!!!
The food was good and the people where nice
I always enjoy coming to Arte Cafe. It is probably one of my favorite neighborhood restaurants. We were entertaining out of town guests last night. All went well until today when I got an email from Arte telling he that my reservation was cancelled. I called them and said how can that be since I personally checked in saying I was using Opentable, the maitre d told me my guests were at the bar and we had dinner outside. The man who I talked to blamed it on Opentable and gave me no resolution. I hope someone helps me as I have a copy of the bill and am not happy.
Disaster!!!! We waited over an hour for a pizza that came out ice cold and tasteless for which they never brought us plates. They forgot to bring grated cheese for my kid’s pasta. The waitress ignored us most of the night and was apathetic. Truly a disappointing experience. This was my daughters favorite restaurant in the past but this was such a terrible experience we probably won’t go back.
Exactly what every neighborhood needs -- a low-key spot with wonderful service, friendly atmosphere, reasonable prices, and consistently good food. Hope that they continue with this winning formula.
Food is always amazing, which is why it’s one our go tos. Service seemed a bit haphazard this time, with our server feeling a bit disconnected and not very warm. However maybe it was just an off day. It remains one of our favs and we’ll keep coming back!
Another neighborhood staple falls by the wayside, for two reasons. One of us got very sick after the meal here. You never know what did it, but we will associate this restaurant with this event for a long time. And second, ordered a glass of wine, which was very good. Ordered a second glass (after a prolonged wait for the waiter to return to the table and I had to stand up and ask for help finding him, and finally went to the bar myself). Waiter returned with half a pour of wine. OK, fine, he's annoyed at me. But it wasn't the same wine! So I called him over and said it wasn't the same, and with a nasty attitude he said: "You asked for a glass of pinot grigio and that's what you got." Cmon man!
