We've been back here a few times. The menu is good, the place is spacious and not on top of each other but the ventilation and circulation of air, during the summer is amateur time. Either that or they want to save money on the AC. When you ask them to do something about it they seem almost powerless to help. They seem to be under orders.
We also had a table whose extension leaf kept dropping on one of my diners and they couldn't fix it...annoying.
I like the place so I will try me more time then I am done.
We've been here many times... usually everything is fine, but this time we had a waiter who didn't put our ordes in correctly (twice) and when he gave us the bill (which was correct - $228), we gave him 2 credit cards and he brought back 2 payment slip to sign showing each card had been charged $50!!! (instead of $114 each)... had we not been honest and pointed out the error, you would have been out of over $100.
Also, there was a table near us with 4 young women (one, it turned out wasn't so young) who were laughing loudly and carrying on, and even though we complained to the waiter, nobody asked them to keep it down. I finally went over myself as they were leaving and pointed out how loud they had been (they laughed at me...).
All in all, this was NOT the kind of experience we expect at Arte. Very disappointing.
Stopped for dinner on the way to Lincoln Center and it was a very good meal and value....varied menu and eveything was well prepared...however...
the restaurant needs to do something about their AC...we were seated in the back and it was unbearably hot/humid. Despite several requests nothing could/would be done.
While we would definitely come back for the food, but only once the weathr cools dow...
One of my favorite brunch spots. Food is always delicious
Great food, service and atmosphere. Top-rate, attentive staff, but never felt rushed. Only complaint is that restaurant temperature was too hot.
Decent and interesting Italian food at decent price for NYC Upper West Side. Comfortable. Early bird special during the week is a good deal
Great experience for our large group. Food, service, wine... all top notch, and they were accommodating for our large family and kids.
Good food, good value BUT too loud unless you can sit in the garden in the rear -BUT they rarely open that.
Nice ambiance, good bar scene, way too noisy main restaurant area, Pizza bread went downhill... tor dry
Wonderful!! We’ll be back!
Disappointing. Service was poor. Our food came out before our salads were finished. We did not have complete set ups. Had to repeatedly ask for our club soda. We needed to request bread, oil and water. It should have been offered. For the $$ spent, it should have been better
We sat outside, and wehn it rained they quickly moved us to an adjacent table under the umbrella. Very good pasta Bolognese. I wish you'd have tartufo for dessert.
Food was good and reasonable, but service was spotty
Excellent food, service and venue. The lunch special has gone up 20% from $15 to $18.
It is still a good deal, but perhaps I won't be lunching here quite as often as before.
The owner did not want to seat us in the back garden patio which we prefer as he said that they couldn’t accommodate a party of 5. He said they don’t seat large parties in the back because of noise. They finally did offer us a seat on the back garden patio after we took a look and said they were 2 adjacent tables they could put together. This was after they had made us sit in the front first.
The service was very slow. Half way through our meal they seated a party of 9 people near us. I don’t understand why they would lie about seating larger parties in the back. I really like this restaurant but it left a bad taste in my mouth to have to fight for a table that was available.
I had a lovely lunch with my friend. The food was great and the entire staff was very friendly. I was with my small service and they were very accommodating. We stayed a long time after lunch with wine and dessert and no one bothered us. We will definitely go back again, and again!
I ordered a dish with poached eggs. This is the second time I have done so at Arte. And it’s the second time I have sent them back because they were over cooked. For $16 for eggs, they should do better.
Very accommodating for a last minute large party with a stroller! Food was delicious!
I have frequented Arte Cafe since it opened approximately 25 years ago. Have always had a good time and wonderful meals at a bargain price. Thank you.
Had the Pear salad and swordfish entree. Both super. Wait staff was very attentive. We were there on a Friday evening. Lots of families with kids, so was fairly noisy. A little pricy, but worth it.
as always, we all enjoyed everything we ordered
The ambience has been updated since I was last there (a year ago), and I like it! The food was as delicious as ever. Arte Cafe has been one of the must go places I experience when I go to NYC with friends. Excellent food!
We had invited some friends from out of town that arrived more than an hour late. The staff could not have been more gracious and accommodating. While the food was excellent as usual what we will always reme, her is how kindly we were treated.
We come often. However, we wish they would buffer the noise!
As vegetarians, we always find tasty veggie options at Arte Cafe. Our waiter was particularly helpful and friendly, as was the entire staff.
I've eaten here many times and like it. However, their a/c needs fixing. It was 88 degrees the other night and the place wasn't cool enough. For some reason, the door was open and they didn't listen to us when we suggested strongly that it be closed.
We ate in the courtyard and it was a lovely experience. The food was very good but it was really the charm of the courtyard that made the evening special.
Lovely food, good service. One minus: the sound level is too loud.
There is a lovely back garden, but it does have tables for parties of eight
The reputation was that the service was bad. This was Not our experience.
The Waiters were attentive and very efficient and the food was good.
I was there for brunch with my friend. Bunch menu was a great selection. Overall service and food was excellent..!! we will comeback...
A great choice for delicious and nicely-served modern Italian cuisine in a laid-back and kid-friendly setting.
Just came from taking my mom to one of her favorite restaurants in the neighborhood. We came for Saturday brunch and it was better just to stay home . We had a waiter whose name is Raudel. He ignored our table and didn’t even inquire if we would like anything else. His service was Very poor and acted as if he didn’t want to be there . The management need to redo their training ASAP!
Food was as always delicious.
Food, service and ambiance wee very good. Had the branding and husband had rigatoni. Prompt service. Gavi wine good.
Delicious food, friendly and accommodating staff. I especially like that they take reservations.
My "go-to" place when seeing a show at the Beacon.
Food is good. Service is consistently poor. Staff is not attentive
I have been here many times and it is consistent. The service is terrible. The reception people are rude and the food is only average. I have determined I have given them enough chances. There are much better places. Stay away unless you have hours to dine on mediocre food.
I like this place, food is very good, but when they get really crowded, service goes down a bit.
The bread was old, they need to serve fresh bread, dissapointed
The food at Arte is always good to terrific BUT the service is HORRIBLE!
Servers are friendly enough, they just seem like it was their first day on the job.
It is such a shame.
