The Restaurant should really update their menu on open table. I understand having to raise prices a bit due to Covid and I don’t mind but when the price of a pasta is listed at $16 and you get to the restaurant and that same dish is $24 - a 50% increase, you feel ripped off. The chicken Paillard went from $22 to $26 I would have left but we were meeting someone for dinner and didn’t want to make a fuss. We won’t be back.
We were a table of 6. Food came for 5 people and the 6th didn't come for another 8 minutes. Made everyone meal cold waiting for the 6th.
No apologies, ask to speak to the manager, who never came. On leaving mention that we asked to speak to the manager and they never came to the table, the maitre'd could care less.
We sat outside and it was delicious and delightful. The noise level was very low and the service was prompt and good. We really enjoyed our dinner there.
Everything was wonderful except for the noise level. The restaurant did all it could to give us--a party of 5-- a quiet corner. Above and beyond the call of duty!! Thank you Arte Cafe. But the noise level grew and, unable to hear anyone speak, our "birthday boy" and his wife left before we could celebrate with candles on the tiramisu. I am glad Arte Cafe is so busy. I hope that's a sign they will survive. The food was excellent--noteworthy! Many restaurants' cuisines seem to have gone down hill post pandemic. Arte Cafe is a great exception.
This restaurant lost its charm . I was concerned about the close proximity of tables without partitions.
We requested a table that was in adherence to the cdc required distance.
The waitress showed us some other options. We accepted but waited a long time for service.
Someone came out to tell us he can put tables anyway he chooses and if we don’t like it, we can leave.I don’t know if he was a manager or chef or other employee.
I responded . He then recognized that were clients who ate there often before the pandemic and changed his attitude.
We ordered , ate our dinner and don’t plan to return.
The food was good. Service was a little slow but the virtue was that we were able to linger at the table. The noise level at times did interfere with our conversation.
My go to neighborhood place. Always delicious! The staff was wonderful as always. I ate every last bit of my Rigatoni Polo Pozzo. Yum!!!
The restaurant was practically empty when we first arrived at 6pm. As the place filled up, we saw less of our waiter. Getting a second glass of wine and the check took an awkwardly long amount of time. I think they are currently a bit understaffed, so until the world gets back to normal, go early, don't get a second drink, and ask for the check when your food arrives.
It's been a while since I sat inside at Arte Cafe. I don't remember the chairs being so uncomfortable. Their outdoor seats are much more comfortable. Then again, I've been sitting on the sofa for a year eating takeout. It's probably me, not the chair.
Poor service, waited for a long time for a waiter to come ,greed and take an order
Very solid and consistent neighborhood Italian on the UWS. Every dish is good. Drinks are excellent as well. Terrific outdoor seating out front as well as in patio in back. Bar is open again too.
Service was very slow and no one checked on us except to snatch up the plates. Need more help.
Food was delicious- service ferric vibe great the owner was so accommodating !
main dishes were excellent. Caesar salad was warm and not crunchy. bread did not taste fresh. service, even though crowded, was excellent.
Really not impressive- best thing was pleasant outdoor seating. Food not inspiring, short ribs dry, chicken parm overcooked and dried out. Didn’t bother to get desserts. Surprised it’s still in business with all the competition in the area.
Delicious food, great service lovely ambiance a neighborhood gem!
Very nice! We asked to eat outdoors and were easily accommodated. The salads were delicious as was the pasta that followed. Nice menu.
The Garden Room was a real find for a casual brunch on a rainy day. Airy with heaters to chase the chill. The staff was attentive and the food tasty.
Pretty much all great except for calamari salad, not fond of it.
First time back since Covid 19, I have had lunches, drinks, and work gatherings here. Always had a great time. Great staff and the ambiance is good. Nice to be back, wonderful neighborhood staple.
Food is always very tasty and no complaints in that respect, but the service is abysmal. Took forever to order, server never checked on us again, other servers had to be flagged down for service, and they were all rather unfriendly. This is the third time this has been the case, so not a one-time occurrence.
Asked for back patio, was switched to front due to construction, not true. Short rib tasted like yesterday's leftover. Terrible quality of wine. No one in party was impressed. Overall a disappointment.
Overall was a good night. Sat in the back garden and that was spectacular! Crab cake was very good the Polipo was rubbery. Everyone got pasta. We had the Eggplant rigatoni (2) and the Carbonara which they all enjoyed. The Torteli was undercooked but the sauce was tasty. Also everyone loved there glass of wine(red). Nero D'avola, Malbec and Pinot.
I think we all would go back even though there were a few misses.
I love this restaurant and its back garden more with each visit.
Went with our cousins for lunch and ate inside as it was breezy outside. Service was very inattentive but the food as always was delicious and generous.
Arte cafe - Upper West Side is a very nice local restaurant. They now have a very large outdoor sitting in the front of the restaurant and also one in the back of the restaurant. We have eaten many times and the food is always very good with the service also being very good. They have a full bar and very nice wine list. If you have room their deserts are great. We will be back (with friends). Thanks
One of my favorite local eateries.
Outdoor set up very good except for unavoidable street traffic noise.
Service a little less attentive than our past experiences.
Food very good.
Terrible service! Read reviews before coming here.
Our typical experience is A+ all around but now with covid ending and lack of staffing (not his fault) adds pressure to deliver.
At the owner’s admission the restaurant housed approximately 75-100 more (outside in front of the entrance) and the overall drain on the staff showed unfortunately all the way thru -
Waiters seemed frenzied and our meal one incorrectly delivered and another of the dishes way undercooked -
We will go back as we love the place -
But like they say in Hollywood - you’re only as good as your last meal -
Overbooked and understaffed.
There were 2 large events (weddings?)in addition to regular diners.
Food was as expected...once it arrived over 30 minutes later.
Front of house was disorganized and Didn’t understand the impact of the large parties on service and food preparation. They made no effort to assist or accommodate.
Our reservation was 5:30. Friend who was there at 7:45 had same experience
I live in neighborhood and brought an out of town friend
Poor showing for New York City
This is one regular neighborhood diner who will not return
We love the back garden for family dinner or a big group of friends!
Sadly service was subpar. Table of 3, ordered 2 pastas and 1 pizza and 1 glass of wine. They were busy and food probably took 20 minutes to arrive and we never got our glass of wine. Halfway through our meal, was able to flag down the server in order to cancel the wine. However, upon saying wine, he immediately left and returned with it - no apology given.
Arrived for 2:00 brunch. Service was slow but pleasant. Salt not readily available and had to look fir server to obtain.
Surroundings were loud.
Food was good.
It took over an hour to get our food. Service was exceedingly slow. When the food finally arrived, it was disappointing. Three of us had the eggs Benedict and all three orders were overcooked. The eggs were effectively hard boiled.
In the 14 months that I’ve been eating outdoors during the pandemic this was definitely the worst meal I’ve had.
The service was terrible.
The bread was hard and cold and it took us asking four times to get it.
The Bronzino was inedible and had to be returned.
At the very end the waiter told us they’re just weren’t enough plates and glasses to serve all the people who were there which explained the tremendous delays in service and to top it off there were rats running back-and-forth just steps from where we were eating so I will not be coming back.
I usually love this place but I think I’m done with it for a while. The place is super loud in the back garden and the service was very bad. It’s clear they do not have enough staff
The best service I've had in years, almost choreographed, handling many customers at once effortlessly. Our 9-person birthday dinner was fabulous.
Food was excellent however unusually long wait to even give our order and even longer to receive lunch (30+ minutes ). Seemed to have been short staffed.
Food is fine,
Nothing special but lots of space inside and out. Garden is lovely for lunch!
Easy food and friendly service, make Arte Cafe a neighborhood favorite.
