Arte Café never fails to please. Made a last minute reservation, and even though they were hosting a large party, we still got a seat (granted we got there early) before the place filled up on a Thursday night. Great food, very nice staff who work hard to make sure the customer is happy.
Great service and an abundant menu! Probably the best Italian I've had in a while. Multi-generational--saw couples and extended families. Very warm and comfortable restaurant.
It was great!
Food and service have always been excellent. Tables far enough apart that you can actually have a conversation. Their 3 course menu for $18 is one of the best values on the UWS. I think its goes from noon until 6
Our "go to" place for pre theater.
Food is so authentic and delicious!
I do not understand Arté and their policy of playing music while the dining room is already terrible noisy. No one was enjoying this ambience The service was not great. We had to ask for the Parmesan cheese and pepper twice. Meanwhile, one waiter was constantly refilling our water glasses. My party of 4 just found the noise unbearable and when we asked them to turn down the volume, the waiter said "it isn't loud."
We went on a Monday at 6:30 PM in early December. Half the restaurant was being used for a holiday party so they took us out the door, walked us down the street and entered the dining area by another door. Waited a bit and the waiter came. We placed ordered wine and then placed our dinner order. Soup (broccoli puree) came after a bit and was tasty and served piping hot. Finished that, plates were cleared and then waited for our entrees, and we waited and waited. Unfortunately our waiter had disappeared so we continued to wait. He finally made a re-appearance, I flagged him down and asked what was the delay. He ascribed it to the party which he was helping to serve but would check on our order. Then we waited, finally after 45 minutes the entrees arrived and while they were good (even though the pork chop parmigana was pounded too thin and as a result was dry) we were too annoyed so it was impossible to enjoy them.
It did not seem as though other tables were having the same experience so it seems like we had the misfortune of arriving at the exact wrong time and having the exact wrong waiter (he had told us earlier that he was new at the restaurant).
I had looked forward to dinner at this restaurant based on the prior reviews and the location but was very disappointed. We were pressed for time so I could not speak with anyone at the restaurant that night, but I did send an e-mail to them the following day but no response as yet. All of the ratings took a hit due to the incredibly poor service and lack of attention which essentially ruined the entire meal.
I've been going to Arte Cafe for about 20-years. I love it! Great food and reasonable prices. Accidentally I inputed the wrong date in Open Tables for the reservation for celebrating my friend's birthday. Even though the restaurant was crowded, they made a place for my friend and me. Saving the day. Thank you!
the food is always reliable although the service is always spotty. if that were improved, it would be so welcome. always enjoy the eggplant parmigiana and there is a good wines by the glass selection.
Very noisy at Sunday brunch. Too warm at table in the rear. But food was very, very good. Would definitely return for lunch during the week.
We were a group of 4 seated near an extremely loud, large group. Very loud talking and banging on their table. This has not been our experience in the past at Arte.
Excellent Parma prosciutto arugala pizza, great happy hour
Cafe Arte consistently offers a price fixed dinner.during the week.
We had salmon and chicken dishes and both were tasty.
This is my neighborhood go to dinner place to enjoy a leisurely and moderately priced dinner.
We arrived in the middle of a rainstorm. The hostess who checked us in neglected to record our Open Table reservation correctly. We were seated in the dining room which is charmingly decorated. The service was efficient but our waiter was a bit distracted. We chose the pre fixe dinner - meatballs, fettuccine with meat sauce for my husband and salad, chicken francese with spinach for myself. There was an included tiramisu for dessert. The food was well prepared and nice and hot. The tiramisu was also very well done. We ordered coffee to accompany our desserts. When we left, the restaurant was very busy, a good sign.
Our only complaint is the failure to record our arrival for our Open Table reservation. We contacted Open Table and reconciled it with them.
Great food, had a really early dinner at 4p after catching a show at Lincoln Center.
So disappointed! We have been going here for years. The waffle used to be the best on the UWS but the new one today is tasteless and chewy. Don’t know why they would change the batter. Ut I suppose there is a new chef. And the “fresh” orange juice was definitely from a can, thick and soupy. Sad to see what was a terrific brunch go downhill.
We went for Thanksgiving - the service was really good, the food was ok....I would go back for Italian food
We were in NYC for Thanksgiving holiday and chose this place based on the reviews. The Italian menu was phenomenal as my daughter and son ordered of it. As for the Prix Fixes Turkey Day menu, it was OK. The first 2 courses were excellent but the main course was a bit dry on the turkey and
We were offered our dessert before our entrees were served. Huh? I know they were slammed, but clearly they forgot to serve our dinners. I forgive them because it was Thanksgiving.
Service, timing, quality of food (and variety) and value for a group of 16 on Thanksgiving was fantastic. Many thanks!
Stupendous Thanksgiving Dinner! Wonderful multi-course meal, very generous turkey dinner, and our leftover turkey was so tasty the next day! Second Thanksgiving in a row - The Best! Thank you Arte Cafe!!!!
I've been going to this restaurant for 10+ years. I've always brought friends and family as the food and service has always been really good and the portions seemed to be in line with the prices. This past time was slightly disappointing. Three out of the 5 of us ordered the pasta with eggplant. I think the three of us were disappointed. The portion seemed to be that of an appetizer. The recipe change was disappointing. The other two meals seemed enjoyable - especially the skirt steak.
Recently returned to NYC from NJ. Arte looks to be a reliable local go to place on the UWS. Good food & attentive service.
Food was bland. Service inattentive.
We were there on a Friday night, so we knew it would be full, but there are so many tables so close together that it does feel crowded. Service was pleasant and attentive. Very good. It was just noisy. What really wrecked the ambience for me were the giant tvs over the bar with sports showing. I did not expect this to be a sports bar vibe with that name. A little disappointed in the whole place. Food was ok.
When I made my online reservation, I specified that this was going to be a birthday celebration for my guest and I requested a birthday dessert with a candle. I repeated my request to the person at the front desk when I arrived. He somewhat dismissively said he knew that already. However, although someone at the table next to us got a birthday dessert and candle, we did not. I had to ask the server in front of my guest. Very disappointing.
great food and ambience- good deal
we enjoyed our evening
Excellent restaurant on the Upper West Side. Do not miss the chance to dine here. It is located on West 73rd Street and it is very convenient if you live in gthe neighborhood. Even if you do not, it is worth the trip as the food was fresh and delicious. The service was very good and they had a long list of specials. It is the type of dining venue which is good for an evening with a friend or a couple of friends. Tables are not crammed together so you have breathing room and you do not have to share your dining space so you do not feel cramped. The staff is friendly and nice and they are there when you need their service. Give the restaurant a try and you will return!
We were there for a very important business meeting but our waiter kept coming back over and over and he interrupted our conversation several times. I would recommend this restaurant for a casual dinner with friends. Food is fantastic.
Remembered coming here years ago for brunch. This was first time having dinner here and the food was outstanding. Appetizer was fantastic, the main course was great and even dessert was superb. We will definitely explore other dishes in future visits.
Wait for meal was ridiculously long. We think they must've forgotten about us or put meal order in late. Wait person brought me my glass of wine on the house & barely apologized. I had to approach manager after our meal... this was After my cousin spoke to him when we were still waiting for our meal. When asked, he agreed to give 20% discount but he then abruptly walked away from me. Really? Way to lose a customer. Service standards there in the toilet - shocked the manager didn't come by our table after food was served to apologize & offer to comp us something at that point. Unimpressed!
I requested a table out of the way where a group of friends could catch up over a birthday dinner- table was perfect, the food wonderful and the service was great including a birthday song and candle.
I am a regular because its consistently good all around. Love it!
The noise level was atrocious. We were seated right next to a huge party that should have been in a private room. There must have been 30 people in that party, and not enough wait staff. Service was poor at best. We waited far too long to order drinks. Drinks took too long to arrive. When we asked twice for another glass of wine, it was never delivered. Very disappointing. Also one of the appetizers we ordered was wrong— it had prosciutto in it, and the person ordering was vegetarian. When we tried to correct this with the server, he just walked away. Will not go back again. We brought out-of-town guests to this place and it was very embarrassing.
Good food at great value. Good location and easy to get to. Price fix from 12-6pm is a great value with good menu selection
Marathon Dinner. Very good food. Restaurant was crowded due to the events of the day. Service was a little spotty- mainly the kitchen delivering all the meals. A good spot to go to. Accommodating to large crowds.
Waitiers were really stretched and stressed due to the packed house with Marathoners. But we will be back again for the good food and normally quiet atmosphere.
It was so noisy and so busy within 15 minutes of our arrival, it took several minutes to get
the attention of a server. We actually saw them running up and down aisles, they were busy.
The food was delicious.
