Lovely atmosphere and staff was attentive. The food was quite good and a lovely selection of wines. The seating area is spacious so you don’t feel crowded in by the tables next to you.
Waitress was pushing us to order.
I had a late dinner with a fiend on Saturday night. Lively atmosphere , loved the music but not too load. The food was excellent- tender Finn greasy crisp fried calamari, delicious thin crust pepperoni pizza and al dente pasta- orchietta with sausage and broccoli rabe. Chocolate mouse was rich and had extra dark chocolate shavings inside- big portion. The host - River was very friendly and helpful, with an upbeat personality. We will definitely tell our friends about this very spacious place with lovely decor and traditional Italian favorites on the menu. Looking forward to trying more items on the menu which was priced moderately.
Staff was attentive to our table, menus has a good selection and all the food tasted delicious. $16 pastas, but servicing size was good.
The atmosphere here is very pleasant and the tables are not on top of each other. The branzino is excellent with roasted vegetables and we both enjoyed it. For dessert I had apple tart with vanilla ice cream and it was delicious. My friend really liked the tiramisu. The prices were good for a Manhattan restaurant in Chelsea. I highly recommend Arte Cafe.
Could not get anyone to turn down the damn music - inappropriate for the dinner hour and thumping loud all the time!
Very good food, atmosphere and service, consistently delivers a great dining experience.
My 2nd visit in one week. Great after the Irish Rep or on the way home from the theater. Beet salad was delicious. Both pastas were cooked and sauced properly. The restaurant is spacious ... no banquettes. There is actually space between the tables. Edison was our waiter both times. Very solicitous service. Will return.
I KNEW ARTE CAFE FROM UPPER WESTSIDE BUT I VISITED NEW LOCATION AT ARTE CHELSEA WITH MY FRIEND AND IT WAS AMAZING. THE FOOD WAS VERY GOOD AND SERVICE WAS EXCELLENT. EVERY ONE WAS FRIENDLY AND PROFESSIONAL. WILL COME BACK SOON.!!
Second time there. Food was delicious. Excellent service. Delightful cocktails.
Arte Cafe continues to provide a great dining experience; good service, food, value and nice ambiance - a welcome addition to the area. Highly recommend.
Arte Cafe overall was a disappointment. I wanted to like it, the decor is lovely and the food was pretty good. The service was really slow though and quite rude. One of the waiters even cat-called one of my friends while there as she was walking to the restroom, not okay. Will not return!
We love Arte...there a few times a month. Love the vibe and the food and drinks are always delicious
Great service and delicious food Food is freshly prepared and portions generous. A great casual neighborhood place. Give it a try !
Great service and good value. Delicious casual meal
Discovering that Arte Café had a prix fixe menu as well was great!! Food was excellent and would recommend and look forward to going back again very soon.
The drinks during happy hour were well made, tasty and fairly priced. The price fixed dinner was economical but the food was underwhelming. The minestrone was tasteless as was the pasta bolognese. A grilled octopus appetizer was excellent with a good char and firmness. The branzino filet was quite good.
The branzino fillet both my guest and I had was so over cooked I found it inedible. I also found it peculiar that after picking up my guest’s napkin, which had fallen to the floor, the server didn’t ask if she needed a new napkin. No one was seated near us so it had to be hers.eventually I had to take one from another table to give her. I would not recommend this restaurant.
There was a party in the next room that was very LOUD. The waiters did not bring forks and there were no spoons to serve the appetizers. The empty bread dish was not removed when the new bread was brought to the table. Mixed greens were not delivered with my steak order
We thought the $18 fixed price was great. We were very full after our three course meal. The staff was very friendly and quick. I would go back, and recommend to a friend
Always good: food, ambiance and service. Our 'go to'
Big fan of the uptown version and this one is almost as nice. The big space probably has the potential to get noisy but it was really quiet when we were there. The prix fix is a great deal and all of the options are really good- even with a few having a $2-5 upcharge it is a great deal. We enjoyed meatballs, mussels and two pastas. The pollo pazzo was divine. Service was fine but could have been friendlier given that it was virtually empty. Cocktails are well done- a tad pricey given the rest of the menu but worth it!
18 dollar pre fixed menu was excellent. Staff was very inviting and on point the entire night.
Wanted to like this restaurant but the service was so poor - we rarely saw our server and were outside so had trouble getting anyone’s attention. Had the tuna tartare and was not good - such a standard dish but the tuna wasn’t fresh nor high quality.
I had the prefix and the food was mediocre. The desert was excellent
Very comfortable space. Polite attentive service. Prices and portions reasonable and very well prepared.
You either play no music or keep it low, which is so nice for those of us who want to talk and be heard. Good happy hour too. Nice staff.
We are so happy that Arte Cafe is in the neighborhood. We have lived here for over 17 years and always went to the Italian restaurants that held the space and they were all so good and family friendly. Highly recommend it for dinner and their Happy Hour is so much fun.
Out of the seven brunch meals ordered, four had to be sent back. Even the pancakes were burnt.
The manager and waiter were apologetic, but that didn’t make up for the bad food
Great food / management very attentive and came back 2 days in a row for happy hour. Shrimp tacos on happy hour menu are fantastic!
Tuna tartare appetizer was good. Skirt steak main course was tasteless and not rare as ordered. My partner's veal piccata was passable. Service was polite but very spotty. Servers did not know which of us had ordered which main course.
The food and service was very good. We would come back again.
We went here for their great happy hour menu and sat outside, but were not allowed to have the HH menu it was only for the bar. My friend asked for an exception since we were the only ones in the restaurant and they said no. So we finished our drinks and went somewhere else.
The perfect neighborhood gem.
Some of the best fried calamari ever
Came here tuesday night for dinner with husband. Service good. Our table looked out to 7th ave. Half inside/half outside. Could people watch. Could also hear the subway. Restaurant only half filled.
We had chicken and veal. Nothing special.
Good neighborhood spot. Not sure I would travel.
Really good on par with the sister restaurant on upper west side. Clean and modern. Service is good not great, new restaurant new people, with time service will
Become great. All staff was pleasant and accommodating.
We had high hopes being fans of the Upper West Side restaurant. But this experience was terrible. As soon as the waiter realized we didn't want drinks he started to have an attitude. It took forever to order. We had to get the manager involved to get our food (it took well over a half hour) and when it arrived some of the food was lukewarm or cold.
They did comp us for the meal, which was appreciated, but overall we won't be going back there.
BTW -- The restaurant is large and airy -- but the noise level is very high. Despite it being only about a third full we couldn't hear each other.
You can change the name, but that doesn't mean you can't up the game. After changing tables to sit on a chair with cushioning, we then endured a slanted table that should have been fixed or removed from the dining room. Ordered two glassed of wine by the glass, pinot and syrah, both were stale and tasteless. When we told the waiter, he took them back, brought new bottles to open, and actually had the nerve to tell us we were right, because he tased them!!! Really?
Ordered an appetizer to share, had to ask for plates, since the bread plate was tiny. No salt or pepper on the the table, busboy brought pepper and put it on the whole appetizer before asking us.
Pastas were good, linguine with clam, and mushroom ragu on pappardelle. Tiramisu tasted like the refrigerator. Waited forever for a check while our waiter was chatting with people at the bar. First and last time.
This is a beautiful restaurant. The food was well prepared and the service was excellent.
Give the restaurant a chance!!!!! Food is quite good and prices reasonable, but The current incarnation of the restaurant as Arte cafe is only around 2 months old or so, and needs work and patience. Our waiter was charming and efficient, but the service needs tightening...like a serving spoon included with the fried zucchini (which was fresh and delicious), or receptical for shells with the clams, refilling of water glasses, etc. It’s a big space and needs promotion like they have on the upper west....
This place has gone downhill since it first opened.
