About Artango Bar & Steakhouse
Travel back in time to Argentina’s Golden Age – when Buenos Aires was booming with tango salons, nightlife, restaurants and opera houses. The cityscape was decorated with magnificent art nouveau and neo-classical architecture. The best bartenders from all over the world traveled south to the roaring saloons and nightclubs.
Experience the aura of the Golden Age through our décor: a blend of wooden bodegas, raw and recycled materials, marble, copper, and stone and concrete like the porteño streets. Metallic adornments and the hand-painted antique tin ceiling give a hint of Golden era glamour.
Artango's food goes back to Argentine roots, without compromising a contemporary touch. Local, fresh ingredients are used to create rustic, flavorful dishes. Try the best steaks in town using ancestral Argentine techniques. Enjoy a full bar with prohibition-era inspired cocktails, and a selection of classic and rare wines from Europe to Argentina.

Artango Bar & Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
Our dinner was only ok. Our server was the main issue. We sat down around 8.45p and the menu was a 3 course fixed price selection for Valentine's Day. He took our appetizer order and nothing else. The appetizers came and we weren't checked on or asked about main courses, dessert or drinks for another 45 minutes to an hour. Mind you, our server passed by us at least 6 times, never stopped in to check if we needed anything and barely looked our way.
When he did stop, he said 'your food should be out in just a moment.' My reply was 'that would be amazing seeing that you haven't even taken our main dish order or dessert.' Shocked, he quickly took our order and our food didn't show up for about 45 minutes. We got the food and it was honestly sub par. It was luke warm and nothing special.
Probably won't be going back.
Went for Valentine’s Day. It was so loud we couldn’t even talk because the musicians speakers were turned up too high. Our server barely even spoke to us, turns out he was the bartender and also serving the bar which wasn’t even busy. He forgot our order and never put it in so he had to come back and asked us to what we ordered after finally noticing we didn’t have food. Every time they brought food they took it to the wrong table first. Even put it down at the table next to us and they handed it to us. Steak was over cooked. Worst dining experience in a while. Would not go back and would not recommend.
The service was exceptional and first class. Our seats were directly in front of the stage, in which we wondered if it was going to be overpowering, but we were pleased to say it was just perfect. The live performance definitely added a unique experience. For food - the flank steak paired with 4 wedges.; It was okay however, changing the pairing from wedges would possibly add to the meal. The salmon with asparagus and mashed potatoes were great together.
I'm disappointed and I wouldn't recommend until the owners get their act together. One month out, I have reservations for four on a Saturday night at 6:30pm. The hostess leads us to a cramped table in the corner but my wife says it's fine. There were plenty of other four-tops in the restaurant where we could have been placed. We ordered specially cocktails, a bottle of malbec, three salads and an empanada, two sirloin steaks and two flank steaks, plus desserts. The food runner brings the cocktails but he doesn't know who ordered what and he doesn't know what each cocktail is. After several tastes, we got it sorted out. The salads were fine and the empanada was delicious. A different food runner brings two plates and just announces "steaks." I asked "flank or sirloin" but he doesn't speak english, and again doesn't know who ordered what. We determined one was a flank and one was a sirloin but we had know idea of the temperature. The other two steaks then came to the table up for auction. The chimichurri had little or no garlic. And, it was seasoned with curry; not appetizing. My steak was really bad. Instead of striations found on a flank, the meat was a connection of three muscles. But worst of all was a quarter-inch crusting of seasoning salt on the steak. I tried two bites from one side, and one bite from the other. It wasn't flank and the salt literally burned my lip. Without ruining the dinner party, it took 15 minutes to find the waiter. I explained how it was inedible and he looked at me and asked me if I wanted it wrapped to take home. I had to repeat that it was inedible and I asked him to take it away. I regretted later in the night that I tipped 20% because I thought that the problems were mostly the kitchen's fault. However, the server should have been professional and alerted the manager. The problems were the hostess, the food, the runners, the server and the manager. But the blame lays on the owners.
In general, a solid experience. The one complaint I had is the seating -- we made a reservation for 4 on the earlier side due to plans later in the evening. So at 5:30, the space was essentially empty -- however, when seated, we were put up against a wall in a corner so 2 of our party would be staring at a wall behind the other 2. It seemed like a punishment -- a spot held for people not taking the time out to make a reservation. Give the early arrivers a reasonable space .
The environment and menu reflect the South American emphasis. They also have tango dancing and music but it started after we left. Lively environment and attentive services. Tables were too close together for my liking. Steak I had was very good but only came with a few wedges of potatoes--seemed sparse for the price. Salad with beets, chocolate dessert and flan all delicious.
Let's start with positives. The food was very delicious. My boyfriend said his drink was amazing.
However, the service was very poor.
1) Once the waiter realized we weren't going to get more than 1 drink, he never returned, and this was at a time where the restaurant was completely empty. When he did return, he tried to upsell us on more drinks.
2) I asked for water and an additional item with my dessert and it took 20 minutes for him to return. The additional item didn't even have to be cooked. There is no excuse for taking that long.
3) I was celebrating a birthday and engagement in one night and not once did it seem like the waiter cared, or even cared to ask. He was mostly concerned about getting us to spend more money. Will not return.
This was our 2nd visit since they moved from the original location. I had a late reservation however the restaurant was able to accommodate us with a table earlier which was very nice. Overall, the food and drinks and wine were really excellent and I would definitely go back again for dinner. However, the table service was pretty poor, not unfriendly in anyway just very asbsent. After our 2nd course was dropped we didn't see our server again till the end of meal after we had sat with dirty dishes and empty wine glasses for over 15min and we had to request him to come over. He did bring a dessert menu but at that point we were ready to end the meal. It was a Saturday night so the restaurant was very busy and I understand those situations. However, with the amount of ppl they have working on the floor we should not have been left from the time our meal was dropped off for 45min with no one checking on us. Next time I would sit at the bar, the service at the bar is very good.
The service was very, very poor and the food was mediocre at best. This was our first visit—we tried it because of restaurant week. We will not be returning. My flank steak was tough and not prepared well though my husband enjoyed his steak, which I think was sirloin. The appetizers and desserts were tasty but given that the type of restaurant, I expected the beef would be excellent.
We decided to try Artango as it was part of restaurant week. The empanadas and caviar de berenja were incredible and the steaks cooked to perfection. Their homemade chimmichurri sauce was the perfect complement. The restaurant itself is stylish and has a stage for live music, though we were finished dining (715pm) before anyone began performing. nice night. great for a (pricier) date but worth it.
Empanadas and cheese tomato brochette where great apps. Main course of Salmon and the chimichurri steak were cooked perfectly.
Dessert molten chocolate cake and Flan were very good if you are into the sweets to end the meal. Sangria was tasty as well
we even were lucky to see a little Tango dance show that evening as well.
I chose to go to Artango to celebrate my birthday. I picked this spot based off of the reviews and wow, was I disappointed. First of all, I didn't even get acknowledged for celebrating my birthday which was stated on our Open Table reservation, or offered to see the dessert menu at the end of the dinner. No recommendations for being a first-time customer, and overrall the service was beyond terrible. Our waitress didn't even ask us how our food was or anything... I can handle slow, which the service was extremely slow, but just poor service in general. The live music was great, which I am wondering if why this restaurant is rated so high. The food is just OKAY. There are way better Argentinian restaurants that are cheaper, and better quality. My steak was overdone and there was no flavor at all. I am extremely disappointed, and I don't think I will return.
Loved the food and with five people we tasted much. Empanadas wonderful but a bit small.
We had a great sea bass, 3 different steaks and great desserts (also on the petite but wonderful scale.
When filled conversations was almost impossible without yelling.
Wait staff needs to improve. One coffee never came with dessert and another request was "forgottten" packing my remaining fish.
I shared it was a birthday but no on the house dessert appeared.
In summation would go back, probably earlier and when quieter and repeat requests to the wait staff. Food was cooked perfect and great.
The food was excellent. The server was very helpful at making sure that the food was safe for a member of our party with food allergies. But the service was VERY slow. It took an hour before we put in our dinner order. It seemed that the servers all had too many tables. The music was good, but quite loud, making it difficult to hear one another.
We went for New Years Eve live music and food. Food was good, but not outstanding, likely due to big crowd for New Years but being they were doing a prix fix menu, they should have had it perfect. Also problems with timing on the food. Kind of felt we were being rushed the food to get us out for the next seating. Pleasant staff. Great wines and drinks at the bar. Overall would return, but with appropriate expectations.
