Generous welcome. We will be back.
Shrimp and grits and crispy brussels sprout dishes were outstanding. Vernon took great care of us, too. We would definitely return.
Great choice for Thanksgiving dinner. Want to try again for a date night.
This was a Thanksgiving buffet meal, so really it shouldn't compare to normal dining. We were disappointed in the buffet selection, but all else was ok.
Their attempt at a buffet Thanksgiving was a major fail. I wouldn’t have paid $25 per seat had I known . . . but $70?? Never again. I trusted them based on great brunch experiences - but Thanksgiving is NOT their forte. Flavorless sides. Cheese-less mac-cheese. Dry ham. The stuffing was the best thing I had that night: and it was mediocre.
The Thanksgiving buffet was pretty expensive, but nothing to write home about and the service was terrible. We were stuck in an auxiliary room off the side of the main restaurant that had water damage to the ceiling. Our water was not refilled at all, and we had to ask both to have the empty plates removed and for the check (which we waited on for 20 minutes).
We ate here for vacation while out of town for our Thanksgiving dinner together. We thought a buffet restaurant down town would be good for our teenagers and still the nicer atmosphere we are used to. It was $70 SEVENTY dollars EACH for this "thanksgiving" buffet which ran a close 2nd to elementary school food, especially the desserts. The meat was fine, comparable to Golden Corral (which we also like but, their buffet runs more like $22.50). I feel the price gauged for the holiday. There was barely a waiter or waitress around, you sit way too close to other people. I will never eat there again.
My family went for Thanksgiving. We liked the ambiance. The noise level was pretty low. The Tahnksgiving spread was good. Mac&cheese was pretty good. We would come back ig in DC again.
The food was so wonderful except the desert. You guys need to work harder to improve your desert!
Great meal during Thanksgiving. Good comfort food and very friendly staff.
Terrific service, food quite good but not blow you away amazing, a little pricey for what it was, kinda empty on a Sat night
Excellent wait staff, very accommodating. The shrimp and grits was very nice and vegie oriented
Excellent waiter. He was very attentive, but not over bearing.
I had a great meal here. I had the soup of the day, split pea soup with cream and bacon. It was very filling! The main dish was fish and it featured preserved lemon. I( thought that might be odd but it was great. The service was attentive and friendly. I would go back for sure. I came a bit early and the place was filling up and getting loud by the time I left around 7pm.
This was our first visit to Art and Soul. The food was great as we expected but the decor seemed tired and the noise level too high for comfortable conversation.
We really enjoyed ourselves at the bar, noshing on happy hour treats and drinking Lee's handcrafted cocktails. Would do it again!
Art and Soul offers Southern-influenced fare — including regional specialties rolled into the weekday happy hour and weekend brunch — from celebrity chef Art Smith.
The usual good experience. Attentive but not intrusive service. The smoked chicken salad was very good and the buttermilk dressing was perfect.
A little worn but very clean. Food was ok. Service was very good. Price was a bit high. Waitstaff was amazing and attentive. A good place to eat but not as amazing as some of the reviews. The locals seem to love the place so maybe it was a bad night for us.
Meals ordered were not warm. Steak over cooked, bass without flavor. Some of other sides and appetizers were not what expected. Best portion was actually desserts. Had high hopes when made reservation. We won't return.
We arrived for our reservation and were informed we had to sit at a high top in the bar area (they apparently had an event scheduled in the dining room that they had to begin preparing for). The entire time we were there, we felt like we were an inconvenience and an after thought. The food was okay, but we will never return due to how we felt while we were there.
Good spot for a work lunch. The food is great, quick service, and comfortable space.
Our waitress recommended the sea bass, my wife had this and was fairly pleased. I had the shrimp and grits, which was a disappointment. A not-very-generous portion of grits surrounded by spicy peppers and shrimp in a tomato sauce. The shrimp were not very interesting, fairly tasty but small without much texture.
We were looking forward to a nice lunch, especially when the concierge mentioned the chef used to be Oprah's former chef. I ordered the salmon burger and while it was tasty my appetite was ruined 1/2 way through when I discovered a big hair in it.
Disgusting. Not going back.
Good food, good beer and good service. A bit noisy for conversational get together.... but you won't annoy other diners if you get a little raucous yourselves! Much quieter after the post-work crew have gone home.
Our waitress was fantastic! She was very attentive and have great service.
My visit to Art and Soul was a celebration lunch for the completion of a business project. The food was delicious. The weather was perfect, so my party chose to sit in the outside patio space. The staff was friendly and accommodating. I will recommend this restaurant to family and friends.
A bit overpriced and underserved. Unfortunately or fortunately will not be going back. Too many options for them to have slow service , one waiter and no water refill. Definitely a dissatisfied customer.
Server served wring item, had asked for side salad instead of fries...got fries, when I mentioned, she brought out a plate of dry salad greens...nothing else on it! NOTHING!
Very enjoyable eating outside.
Great food. The restaurant inside looks great, but the air conditioning was so high we decided to eat out in the patio. The space is nice enough but it is right on a major road, so it's very much a city setting, so to speak. There's a room to the side of the main restaurant which I'm not sure what they use for, but when we were there it was used by the servers to come in and out, there were a bunch of chairs in no apparent order and it looked quite unsightly. Anyway the food and service were great, and the road was quiet enough that night so we had a lovely time
Good food. Small portions. Expensive. We may be back though. Very healthy.
Highly disappointed with the menu. I couldn't order the chicken and waffles. It appears they have a second menu but only for high top tables. Unfortunately, it was the menu shown online and we were not able to order from it.
My wife had their ribeye steak and it was not anywhere near worth the $43 we paid for it.
This restaurant was by far the low note of the weekend. I would not recommend this restaurant.
Great patio! My dog wants to go back since they have a pooch patio menu!!
We actually sought out Art & Soul not only because it looked like a beautiful outdoor patio which was dog friendly- including their doggy menu! (Five stars in my book!) but the comfort food for our late sunday brunch was exceptional! You might consider adding a bottomless mimosa on sundays, other than that- I will reccommend it to EVERYONE!
We were disappointed this time. Went for Sunday brunch, lemon pancakes had no lemon flavor (complained, to no avail), waiter dropped half our pricey appetizer on the outdoor seating floor, and never replaced it despite repeated requests. Latte was late in arriving; we were told it would be complimentary but was still charged to our bill. About half the party of seven's food was excellent, the rest was mediocre or poor. Biggest disappointment was failure of the waiter/staff to rectify complaints.
Nice place for a business lunch, or a quick bite to eat.
The menu is limited, but what is offered is great quality versions of familiar recipes. I loved the chicken and waffles for brunch. It's not too much food, it's well seasoned and the restaurant is centrally located.
We were there for my dog's birthday. The waitress was very nice and the food was awesome. They had this special menu called pooch patio menu for dogs which was a huge plus. The only downtime that night was the patio lights were all out and it was a little dark and lack of ambience at night.
They have a beautiful view from the patio with the Capitol down the street. But that's really the best it gets. Everything else is good; food, service, etc. but nothing was good enough to make me want to go back soon. I would be more inclined to return due to convenience. (Which considering the parking situation, it isn't very convenient).
We went with my dog and their doggy menu is cute! I appreciate that there are things fit for smaller dogs as well as larger.
It was great! The fried chicken sandwich had just the right amount of heat to it. I was afraid the habanero sauce would be overwhelming, but it was perfect!
