This restaurant is old and tired. The faux-leather chairs are peeling and the decor is dated. The menu has few choices and the food is grossly overpriced. While I was not staying in the hotel which houses this restaurant, I have stayed there before, so this was not my first meal at Art and Soul. Something has gone wrong and they have let things slide – a lot. I would say, on a singular positive note, the waitress was very helpful and the food was delivered in short order.
It was great! The staff was excellent and the food was delicious!
food was great however service was slow. the waiter seemed to forget about us several times.
We had Mountville different serves over our lunch. They brought me the wrong order, I ordered eggs Benedict and they brought me shrimp and grits. Then our check was incorrect.
Had a great meal once again! Salmon was excellent as was the mushroom soup. Great wine selection.
We were seated quickly. The staff was attentive but not obtrusive. Food was amazing. Its my second time there and I’d go again in a heartbeat. Highly recommend for friends and business meeting.
Good food and thanks for altering your menu to fit the needs of my godson, who is a strict vegetarian. The burgers are good as well (a friend ate that) and I loved the vegetable quiche. My only complaint -- the fries were seasoned well but cold!
For the price I was expecting the food to be better. Not as good as bistro bis around the corner.
Nothing to write home about. Average.
Service was very slow. Table next to us was seated 10 minutes after us, but receive their food 20 minutes before we did.
Nice inventive menu and always reliable. Prices reasonable.
Welcoming pleasant hostess.
I go annually and was very disappointed.
Outstanding. We decided on this location to celebrate our 7th wedding anniversary with another special couple in our lives. We all were comfortable and enjoyed ourselves. The brunch changed since we were there last but we were told things changed when the management changed. The menu changed but the taste and service maintained their high standard. For the first time in my life I tried the chicken and waffles. Wow. The waffles were fluffy and quiet tasty. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the service. This was our 3rd visit and it will remain in our rotation.
The food and service were extraordinary. Patricia, our waitress, made us feel like VIPs. This is a hidden gem in DC.
Good food and interesting menu. Can be a bit noisy.
Art and Soul is a great spot for various dinner occasions. Our waiter was attentive and gave us time to be with our friends. Food was interesting and delish. You should check it out.
A quiet pre Super Bowl brunch at my home away from home in DC. The Chicken and waffles was just what the doctor ordered on a rainy Sunday. Delicious! My guest thoroughly enjoyed the Corned Beef Hash Benedict. Flavors were amazing! The service was great. Adrian was our main server but the staff worked as a team to ensure our experience was delightful. Can't wait to get back for another visit!
Did not enjoy food from brunch menu... shrimp was not clean... quiche was more like a salad with a side of quiche
Our waiter got our food wrong twice.
Food was tasty, but some of the staff were not especially hospitable and the service was incredibly slow. We had to ask for place settings and not all the diners received the items they requested. And almost $5 for a cup of drip coffee that was never refilled?
Food and presentation of the food was really good. Very tasty. Interesting twist on citrus pound came and ginger sorbet. Pleasant surprise and absolutely delicious!
Three of us went to Arts & Soul for Sunday lunch. We all had different options of the Restaurant Week menu. The food was OK, deserts better than sour food. But service was bad. Inattentive, slow, distant. The place is well lighted for brunch/lunch, and the athmosphere really nice. I am giving the benefit of the doubt and will come back soon.
I highly recommend the Chicken & Waffles for Brunch! Very modern and elegant ambiance.
For restaurant week, the choices were not pleasing. I had to change my meal selection b/c the shrimp/grits were not good had no taste and the shrimp were infant sized shrimp. The menu needs to better.
Had a blast- loved the options for the week!
I went to this restaurant many years ago and it was beyond delicious. I guess I had high expectations because when I returned, the food was dramatically different. I wasn't a fan and probably won't return because of the food but hey, we all have different taste buds.
The atmosphere is absolutely beautiful , the food is amazing and the service is beyond attentive. Will be going back soon
Went to Art an Soul for lunch and I was pretty underwhelmed. The server was rushing us through the whole process and the food wasn't impressive. My French fries were wilted and over seasoned. My bun was drenched in butter. I was disappointed because I was looking forward to coming here.
Good food. Great service. Excellent handcrafted unique cocktails. Will definitely be going back.
Very good dinner, and surprisingly so since this is a restaurant in a hotel. Really nothing negative to say. Excellent fish and short ribs, very well prepared and presented.
Great for brunch.
Good food but a little pricey. Friendly service. Nice location near Capitol Hill.
We dined early so it was nice and quiet. Food was very disappointing for the price.
My husband and I visited the restaurant on Saturday, Jan 6. It was a super cold night, right after the snow in the DC region, so it was very quiet. We got a great parking spot as result. The ambiance was great. The restaurant is cozy. The food was good. I had the Shrimp and Grits. Although it was very good, I thought the shrimp would be bigger. They were very small. Kind of like the frozen kind you get from grocery store. The grits also very tasty but the ratio of grits to sauce was off. Too much sauce and not enough grits. Again, while I enjoyed the food, it would only be a one time visit for me. Our waitress, Kenya, was outstanding - full of personality but not phony and very attentive but not intrusive. My only complaint was the booming bass from the club in the hotel. We were seated along the "bean wall". Suggestion, if you go at 8:30 or later, sit closer to the front of the restaurant.
On a cold January day, this was a nice spot for a quiet business lunch. The food and service were great!
Delicious! We really enjoyed our meal. Nice that it wa quiet.
Food great. Nice options on the menu for salads, entrees, sandwiches. Hotel cool. Service fair at best.
I was seated immediately upon arrival.
The menu caters to everyone and the service was very prompt.
Service was very slow even though we arrived early for lunch and the restaurant was not busy. Burger was well done when I ordered medium well. The fries were saturated with terrible tasting spices. It is hard to ruin a burger and fries but the did it. One companion sent back the shrimp and grits because she said the dish just tasted like tabasco sauce. Food took forever to prepare and the server forgot to put in the order for our appetizer. Would not recommend. I used to enjoy this restaurant and the food, but not lately.
