Owner and managing partner, Monica Saxena, envisioned aRoqa to be a celebration of diversity and culture, merging Indian flavors with a global palate and cocktail culture. aRoqa’s menu unites diverse flavors inspired by its name: in India, a “roka” ceremony is where friends and family come together to enjoy the engagement of a couple and celebrate by sharing a meal.
At aRoqa, Chef Manni and head mixologist Prasad have created a unique marriage of cuisine and cocktails in a chic, sophisticated setting, to create an elevated experience, focusing on small plates with Indian flavors.
long gained basmati rice, fresh herbs and spices served with yogurt raita
Chicken Tikka Masala
tandoor oven cooked chicken in creamy, mildly spiced curry sauce
dum pukht lamb with fennel-ginger spices
Food was good but the dishes came out in rapid-fire succession in a span of about 20 minutes, so the meal felt very rushed!
Fabulous service, food was excellent. We celebrated a birthday and they went all out with a sparkler on our dessert. Highly recommend the cauliflower starter and the mushroom dish.
Decent food, but service was disorganized, inattentive, and lacked any prideful element. Had to practically beg for water, had to reorder wine several times because our server forgot each time, and generally uninspiring experience.
My wife and I really enjoyed our first experience at aRoqa. Loved the vibe and energy, felt very hip for Indian restaurant. Everything was clean and service was spot on. We tried multiple appetizers, main dishes and desserts. Everything was outstanding. I highly recommend giving aRoqa try.
The best Indian food in the city hands down
Loved it! Food was fresh and delicious! Ambiance was very chic and cute! server was very attentive. Would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for good Indian food!
Great as ever. Food great. Atmosphere great. We missed this place!
Great place, nice ambiance! Would recommend to anyone visiting
Everything about the place was really good. Highly recommended.
Super yummy food!
Innovative presentation , great food and cool atmosphere
What a wonderful experience! Food is delicious!! Staff very friendly!! Highly recommended!!
Ample of vegetarian choices and great service. We will go back!
Amazing food, great experience. Love the reengagement cocktail. Will be back again.
Unfortunately because the door was open for ventilation, the restaurant inside was uncomfortably cold. The food is tasty but very expensive for the portion size. The service was attentive.
Food was fantastic, efficient service and the drinks were very good
Great addition to Chelsea. The food is always good!
Nothing extraordinary about the food. Did not try drinks, there are better options available.
Best Indian cuisine in Chelsea
The Indian small plates were great. If I was to go back, I would skip the larger, traditional dishes like Tikka Masala and Vindaloo and, instead, share many small plates.
Try the Stuffed Naan!
We get indian food every week, and think this may be the best we’ve ever had. The service was great, and the food and drinks were amazing. Highly recommend!
Taste plates were good. Main course was not up to the mark. May be the drinks are good (but we did not try that)
One of the best places in Manhattan to enjoy succulent Indian appetizers with innovative cocktails and nice wines. Main courses seem to be enjoyable too but no appetizer is to be missed.
Given the fact that restaurants are trying to recover you would think that when customers come out to spend their money that the service would be better.
An amazing an interesting selection of food. The menu was fantastic. I loved this place. The servers were very helpful and friendly.
My only reservation is that the heating lamps did not work very well.
It wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t great. I’ve had better Indian food elsewhere. We spent $90 for 2 people without alcohol which seems quite steep for food that wasn’t overly flavorful. The restaurant was nicely decorated but with all the Covid restrictions and barriers the ambiance is lost a bit. Not the fault of the restaurant, but for a restaurant you go to for ambiance it’s a bit disappointing, especially when coupled with average food
Food was excellent. Definitely get the smoked eggplant! Cocktails were not so great, both drinks we ordered were really disappointing. Staff is taking covid seriously and we felt very safe dining inside here.
aRoqa is an excellent restaurant. The menu options are both unique and delicious, with both vegetarian and meat lover options.
Service was speedy, and the owner made herself apparent throughout the evening and was very knowledgeable.
Menu options are priced reasonably. at first we thought drinks were a little steep but after tasting what we ordered, we were content with quality for the price.
Atmosphere is hip and fun with great music.
Our only constructive thought, and we know it's COVID, is to consider extending the maximum 1hr 15min time constraint by 15 minutes? The night did feel rushed.
Thank you and we will likely return!
Overall this is really good Indian restaurant with great food and nice ambiance.
Food was good and tasty. But felt a like we were rushed to finish the food. I guess that what Valentine’s Day reservation would feel like at every restaurant in NYC.
My wife and I have very different background. She mostly grew up in India (Lucknow) and I mostly in US (multiple states). Her career couldn't be any different from me. But luckily when it comes to food we are almost like two peas in a pod. We both love cooking and especially Indian cooking. We have been to most all good Indian restaurants - Indian Accent, Tamarind and others etc. and we always go back to them either because we liked the fanciness of the presentation or the ambience or the service but no one particular reason. May be we are little smug in saying that. Coming to aRoqa , even though we loved almost everything about them presentation etc. if we need to pick one thing that make us come back to them it was the food. I don't know what was it, may be the authenticity we felt of the masala's, or just a great chef but it reminded us of back home. Don't get us wrong as presentation and other factors were on the top end as well. My wife, even before Monica (great host) came to speak with us, guessed that the food taste like Lucknow. And once Monica came we found out that she is from Lucknow. The goat keema and the same aroma that we have smelt before back home or the Chicken Biryani that taste just like you eating at home. Thank you Monica and aRoqa. We will be back again.
so yummy !!
Delicious, creative Indian cuisine in a great location with a wonderful set-up for outdoor dining. Excellent service, too. aRoqa rocks!
not worth it a bit ! The food is very mediocre
Very good lunch boxes at a good price point. Excellent service. I had the curry vegetable box.
Food was greaf
Rushed and chaotic
Our server, Lexi, was AMAZING. She was helpful and accommodating and did her best in a difficult situation. The food and drinks took forever to come out. Our server was the only one who tried to make a bad situation better. The manager or woman managing the front of the house looked lost and honestly seemed to be adding to the confusion and delays. Lastly, some of the food was so delicious but some of the dishes were subpar. For a high end restaurant the whole experience was lackluster. Again, thank you Lexi, you were great... Everything else could and should have been much better.
We had a delicious lunch. Their outdoor seating is generously spaced. The only down side was that the service was slow. Two meals arrived after two others finished.
Very good food. Looking forward to normal dining when COVID is over.
