Owner and managing partner, Monica Saxena, envisioned aRoqa to be a celebration of diversity and culture, merging Indian flavors with a global palate and cocktail culture. aRoqa’s menu unites diverse flavors inspired by its name: in India, a “roka” ceremony is where friends and family come together to enjoy the engagement of a couple and celebrate by sharing a meal.
At aRoqa, Chef Manni and head mixologist Prasad have created a unique marriage of cuisine and cocktails in a chic, sophisticated setting, to create an elevated experience, focusing on small plates with Indian flavors.

The food is excellent. Highlights for us were the small plate cauliflower dish and the chicken entrees. The chicken fritter small plate was a disappointment: dry and kind of tasteless. I would love to give a fully enthusiastic review to this restaurant, but the value is simply not very good. For example, while truly delicious, the $15 cauliflower dish consists of 4 small pieces of cauliflower, weirdly served in the bed of a toy truck, which seems to mostly be there to distract you from how little food is being served. I understand that restaurants have had a tough time during Covid, but I don’t mind paying a little more, but please serve me a reasonable amount for the money I’m spending.
Slow service solely due to seating placement. Seemed waitstaff forgot about our table because we were seated outside. Food was decent
Great food and service. Fun and interesting cocktails.
I was a bit surprised to have to fill out a lengthy COVID disclaimer form without any prior notification -at time of booking- of this fact and and of the content of this questionnaire, which reaches far beyond the current state and national guidelines.
The food and service were excellent.
The price felt high for the low amount of protein included per dish and the atmosphere was a bit loud, the lights bright, so less suited foe a romantic dinner than I had hoped...
Over hyped, over expensive, mediocre food. Too noisy.. cramped up. Dont go by the photos, its a very small place.
Food was so mediocre, pretty meh!
Not worth it
Great food. Friendly service. A good time was had by all.
The food was incredible and the staff was so nice! Great experience
The lamb chops were amazing.
Great place! Good food and atmosphere. Would highly recommend
Fantastic Indian food. Our shrimp dish and spinach dish was sublime! Also, great mocktails. Wonderful experience.
We were celebrating our return to NYC, spending over $300 on food and wine for the two of us. The maitre'd did warn us he table was booked again at 8:15. No one was waiting for the table at 8:15 but we were rudely ushered to the bar to finish our meal. No one arrived to take not only our table but none of the other tables which had been cleared, even by 9:30 when we finished our meal. Luckily, Max, the bar tender was friendly and took good care of us but what an unwelcoming and financially unwise policy to make staff shoo diners away during their dessert. LaRog has lost a pair of good customers. We, nor the lovely couple we were seated next to and engaged in conversation on the best places for Indian food in NYC, will not return.
Amazing food, vibe, and service! Can’t go wrong with whatever you order here, but their biryani, murgh chop, paneer tikka masala, and aloo gobi are outstanding! Add in some garlic naan and various raitas and you’ll have a meal that’s hard to forget.
Great restaurant with small plates and great drinks.
We requested without spiice. They served spicy dinner anyway. It was okay and too rush.
The food was delicious but tiny. Shared dishes are just good enough for 1 person.
Delicious food, great spicing. Friendly server. I recommend!
The staff was very kind and accommodating — it was my partners birthday and they helped us celebrate it amazingly. One of the starters we wanted was unavailable, so the server guided us to another delicious option. Everything we ate was very yummy, well prepared and well presented. Their outdoor seating is covered so even though there was a storm rumbling on the horizon, we were well protected and comfortable!
Delicious! Expensive, but that's New York prices for you. You pay $24 for 6 bites of Chicken Tikka Masala. Also, they rushed us out due to kitchen closing at 9pm, despite allowing seating until 9.
This place was an absolute gem! We absolutely loved the food, drinks and ambiance!
Excellent food. Not too pricey. Will definitely be back for more!
The food here is always good and served quickly. Not your typical Indian - a more unusual choice (more of a South Indian fusion?). Great small bites and the bar has plenty of good offerings of just about everything.
Amazing food, drinks, and service!! Definitely try the butter chicken Mac and cheese. You will not be disappointed!!
The food was superb -- from appetizers right through desserts. The seasoning was different than any other Indian restaurant I've been to in the U.S. Much closer to the depth and heights of cuisine in India.
The service was outstanding too.
The only drawbacks were 1) the limited number of fish, chicken and lamb options on the menu and 2) just how dark the entire atmosphere is (walls, tables, menus, etc.)
Overall, excellent Indian food and I'd go there again in a minute!
Light sort of new Indian
Excellent food and service. Well priced
Pretty mediocre food. many better indian places in town. surprised about the michelin guide "plate" mention considering how mediocre this place's food is.
Excellent Indian food with a decent wine list and good recommendations from the personable waiter.
Service was very attentive - our server was really nice and spent time talking to us. We only ordered appetizers, which I felt were quite good. The kurkuri bhel, habanero chicken tikka, and the paneer hari mirch kulcha were particularly delicious. The presentation was definitely out of the ordinary as far as Indian restaurants go, which I appreciated. Will definitely have to try the shared plates/“entrees” next time. Cocktails were very good and creative. Overall nice job. The only issues were value for the money and the lighting was a little too dark. I wish we could have had more than an hour and a half to dine, but I understand the need to turnover tables more quickly due to the hit the restaurant industry has taken, and I acknowledge that this is not unique to aRoqa.
The food here is incredible! The drinks were as creative as the food. The staff was friendly and helpful. Can't wait to return.
Awesome place great vibe!
Excellent food, drinks, presentation, ambience and service!
Were there for our anniversary dinner. Sumptuous food and nice ambience..I loved the perfect golden lights everywhere!
This was some seriously interesting Indian food, something quite out of the ordinary. The cuisine reflects a South Indian approach but not necessarily traditional food. Everything was delicious and there were some interesting twists. Definitely will be returning
Loved the butternut squash koftas. We are definitely coming back. However, we were really disappointed in the rasmalai, it tasted bland and almost stale. I do believe it was a one off mistake because the waitress handed over a complimentary pistachio dessert to us at the end, which was delicious.
The food was fantastic - super flavorful and good heat. Highly recommend this as a date spot!
Service was impeccable. Food unique and delicious. Everything is plated and presented beautifully.
Very tasty food
Food was good but the dishes came out in rapid-fire succession in a span of about 20 minutes, so the meal felt very rushed!
Fabulous service, food was excellent. We celebrated a birthday and they went all out with a sparkler on our dessert. Highly recommend the cauliflower starter and the mushroom dish.
Decent food, but service was disorganized, inattentive, and lacked any prideful element. Had to practically beg for water, had to reorder wine several times because our server forgot each time, and generally uninspiring experience.
