Service was quite slow, although it was busy as event on at the Arena. Maybe employ extra staff when events are staged? Some food we ordered was then no longer available. Also one starter wasn't ordered in the kitchen so our party of 6 had to wait for the 6th person to finish their starter.

Visited Arnold's on Friday 8th November prior to a theatre trip. Was very disappointed to find that it has changed from a proper restaurant to a basic fast food place. No table service for ordering. Order and pay at the bar only. Limited menu choices. The music was deafening which resulted in several drinking patrons shouting to each other and being quite rowdy. The music was turned down when we complained thankfully. Very disappointing, won't be returning and wouldn't recommend

Very poor indeed. There was a forty five minute wait on food as there was an event on at the First Direct Arena, which we were going to. I had to ask three times to be shown to our table as i had pre booked. I had to ask for our table to be cleared and to be wiped. There were no salads being served so we opted for the butterfly chicken and when the food did finally come it was pretty disappointing I have to say. Considering the pressure that the staff were under they were were very welcoming. Surely if Arnold’s know that there is event happening they should get more staff in to deal with the rush??

The worst dining experience of my life - a proper Fawlty Towers! Being near the Arena we booked a table at 6 to allow enough time for a meal before our concert. The place was full with a giant queue at the bar - only one person on duty. No-one to greet you - we found a table as someone was leaving and a waitress (one of just 2) asked if we had booked..... but didn’t ask our name or time booked so anyone could just answer ‘yes’! We weren’t told you have to order food and drink at the bar but eventually caught on and queued. 20 mins later we brought drinks back to the table and waited for our food - and waited - and waited! 40 minutes later still no food - so people were leaving without eating but the kitchen was still preparing their food so the hapless staff were asking ‘who ordered this’; people desperate to just eat said ‘me’ so all the orders were mixed up. We asked the poor barman (who was dispensing drinks, taking food orders - and also operating the pizza oven!) where our food was & he came back to tell us that the fish pie ordered was ‘still in the freezer downstairs’! But that there was a curry & some noodles he had available when people had walked out! So 2 of us ate that whilst the other 2 waited for the pizza. So we didn’t eat together and there was only time for 2 bites of pizza before dashing off for the concert. Soooo we were there just 5 minutes under 2 hours and got our not very good food 5 minutes before leaving. Really really appalling experience. The staff tried but there was no manager around, no system in place (or no training?) and the place was absolutely not prepared to offer what they did. We found out as we left that Arnold’s is partnof the Ibis - they should be ashamed.

Booked table 5.30 as going to an Andrea Bocelli concert at Arena. Shocked to see place full up and no reserved table for us. Everyone going to the concert we thought. Put on a tiny coffee table nr bar, not given a menu. Not told no waitress service so we had to QUEUE round the room to place food order. Queued over 30 mins then food did not appear..after further 30 mins we cancelled order (as did other equally dissatisfied people). Incredible this place is so ill-equipped to deal with its clients on a popular concert evening - they must surely KNOW they will be flooded with people staying there in order to see the concert but they were totally understaffed and unable to deal with the number of people. As stated our booking wasnt even made and at 5.30 the place was full. Pitiful. It ruined our and many others evenings. I would like to be informed by the management what steps if any they were putting in place to make sure they are adequately prepared for large demand of people - there were no excuses whatsoever. The place had no staff, and to have to queue up for food was unacceptable. The management should be taken to task over this disgraceful service. There was no excuse for it.

We were unable to dine at Arnolds despite booking a table at 17.30 several weeks earlier. We arrived on time only to find the restaurant packed with people queuing at the bar and standing around in the eating area. There were no tables reserved for booking and it was a complete free for all. I spoke to the waitress who appeared to be in charge pointing out we had a table booked and she promised to find us a table. We were given a table at 18.05 and told to rush over quickly before someone else jumped on it? I queued up at the bar to order food and drink which took a further 10 minutes and sat down to wait. No food had arrived by 07.10 and we were attending a concert which started at 20.00. I went to the bar cancelled our order and had the money repaid onto my card and we left. There were numerous other people doing the same thing and some very unhappy and frustrated people. It was clear though that this was not the fault of the waitress in charge but more a ridiculous resteraunt policy not to reserve booked tables. The waitress worked very hard to sort an absolute shambles maintaining her calm and smile throughout.

Arnold’s has changed focus from a la carte table service to burger order at bar. We booked after an earlier visit prior to the change. The staff were very welcoming and explained upfront about the changes. We stayed as we had an appointment to make and didn’t want to be wandering the streets looking for an alternative. Pleasant but not my idea of a meal out.

When we arrive we were told to ‘sit anywhere’ despite booking in advance. We were a table of 5, with no tables of that size available. There was person behind the bar and 1 waiting staff. Neither could cope with how busy it was. As we were queuing to place our order at the bar we overheard another table complain that they had been waiting 40 minutes for a burger, at a time when they were only the 2nd table seated. Now the room was full and with only 1 hour before our show at the arena we decided to get up and walk out.
