Arno Ristorante Ratings and Reviews

Let me begin by saying I have never written a negative review on any restaurant in the past. My expectations from a NYC restaurant are high but not unrealistic.
We had a reservation at 8:00 but our table was not ready. No big deal we will have a drink at the bar. The bartender was lovely.
Our table became available and the waiter brought our drinks from the bar to the table. Fine. So far so good.
We sat without a waiter for about 5 minutes. No big deal. After about 10 minutes they brought us a menu. Then approximately 10 more minutes I had to ask for a wine menu.
We sat there with no interaction for another 10 minutes and were quite fed up. We decided this was unacceptable for New York City and decided to leave. We got up and I went to the coat check to retrieve our coats ( the coat check lady was wonderful).
I went back to the bar where my wife was and asked to talk to the manager, Carlos. Carlos was anything but a manager. I could not believe how rude he was initially to my wife and then to me.
I am honestly very cordial and laid back. I would not leave a negative posting if it really doesn’t deserve it. Carlos could not have cared less that we were leaving. I told him the service was terrible and he told us that in 32 years he has never heard this in the past? Seriously? Never in 32 years. There was no attempt to placate us at all. He basically said “just leave”. We are not high maintenance at all but his attitude was disgraceful for a NYC restaurant. I sincerely hope this restaurant fails as I cannot imagine people will tolerate this horrible service for long.
Unfortunately we didn’t get to taste the food. The way this experience began we were not going to tolerate it. By contrast we had dinner at another restaurant last night but I will not mention it out of respect but you have many other choices in NYC than this place. I hope you choose a better restaurant for your dollars. I wasn’t going to spend mine here.
We were forgotten. Our server did not bring our drinks until after the food was brought out. The server also seemed to get into a verbal argument with the dessert cart server after we requested dessert and the guy did not come by. The food was slightly overpriced for what was presented.
Wow I saw the positive reviews so I went to Arno only to be really disappointed. First of all the menu at the restaurant is more expensive than what is shown on open table (e.g. the Swordfish was actually $5 more). When we placed our order the food was at the table in less than 4 minutes telling me it was pre-cooked and just heated-up. Besides that it just wasn't that good and there are way better restaurants at better prices than this place. Note the restaurant is also very loud and at the table next to us two women were telling multiple employees that the bartender should be fired because multiple times she failed to make their cocktails the way they liked them (If they ever make a Jersey Shore show for people in their 50's they would both get starring roles). I am dumbfounded people give it a high rating and although I try and give a place the benefit of the doubt, there are way better places to spend your time and money.
Boring menu. Felt very rushed and that they wanted us in and out. No ambience- very dated. Silver ware dropped on the table but menus took 10 minutes. All tables seated together and it was very loud. They could have moved us somewhere more quiet. Food was just ok. Nothing special. Too many other good restaurants to bother with this one.
It was not what we expected based on the ratings. We brought our six year old daughter and was automatically put in the bar (she was very well behaved). Our waiter apparently came off his shift as after our initial drinks and order no one came until the bill. We were not even offered dessert (for which they have a good looking tray). The food was good, but the service brought down the overall experience.
We wanted a last
Minute pre theatre Italian meal . Arno was available and geographically desirable. We each had a nice pasta entree and a glass of wine. Good but nothing special. Plastic menus. Cold bread. Not a lot of choices on the menu. My husband liked it more than I did. I think there are better choices
The food was out-of-this-world! Absolutely delicious. Husband had a veal florentine special and I had the rigatoni all'amattriciana. I definitely know what and where I will be eating the next time I am in NYC. The restaurant is a bit old fashioned and the waiters hover, but the food more than makes up for it. Go. Eat.
Hotel recommended, within walking distance; Cornelius was our waiter, very friendly and accommodating. I had seen risotto with shrimp on a menu earlier in the day and wanted that. However, I decided to add shrimp to the homemade pasta with mushrooms. Superb. Good dessert as well. We had walked many miles that day sight seeing and were happy to end the day at Arno's.
This restaurant is just very consistent with the quality of food and great service. That is why I keep going back. This time was no exception. Linguine and clam outstanding, fresh flavorful perfect seasoning. My business associate had a pounded veal cutlet parmesan which he said was great. Fresh fish salad if it is available is a must try.
This was our first visit and it was terrific!!! There six of us each having a different meal and all very delicious. I was ordering a wine that I am familiar with and the host recommended on for a slight up charge that he said we would like better and he was right, everyone loved it.
The dining room was very busy and loud. There were multiple servers who seemed to rotate and not much communication between them which made the service disjointed. When we were seated we were immediately asked if we wanted something to drink before we were even given a wine list. When taking orders the waiter did not mention specials until we asked him. Surprisingly for an Italian Restuarant there were no pasta options on the menu. The food itself was very good and did come out pretty quickly. Part of the service issues are due to the busyness of the Restuarant but when going out to a nice restaurant I expect better.
We were in the city for the day. We arrived for our 7p.m. reservation, was seated promptly, then forgotten. Several wait staff members walked by our table without even an acknowledgement. We had to ask for menus and when we finally got them it was several minutes before someone returned. We were never offered to place a drink order. Tables that arrived after us, received drinks, bread and apps before our order was even taken. The food arrived after a lengthy wait, it was delicious but at that point the service took away from the experience. We received our check and then the dessert cart came around.. The restaurant was relatively quiet and there seemed to be an abundance of staff, just possibly poorly managed. I am not one who usually writes reviews but felt compelled to do so, I would try the restaurant again because of the excellent taste of the food, hopeful for better service.
