Arno Ristorante Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I recently ate dinners at Arnos Restaurant last Saturday. We decided to splurge on a meal before attending the theater. We decided on Arnos due to the relative closeness to Times Square. It was less than a ten minute walk to the show.
We booked only a day before the show which usually is a problem. However, we got a perfect dinner slot of 6:00 pm. Upon arrival we were greeted at the door by the hostess who immediately took care of request to sit in the main seating area.
Our waiter was more than gracious in walking us through their large menu selection. The appitizers and food came out promptly ensuring us of making the theater on time.
The Italian food was excellent along with the entire ambiance of the venue. I would highly recommend Arnos for anyone looking for an upscale dinner experience near Times Square. The food and drinks are a little pricey but how many times do you get a night out in Manhattan.
Arnos is worth the money for pleasant evening of fine dining.
Party of twelve got ripped off by a creepy waiter and by extension the owner. He padded our bill. He brought vegetables "for the table" which no one ordered. At $13.00 per plate that was steep. Then he brought 6 snifters of sambuca. When I asked who ordered the sambuca the waiter said "I take care of you." Showed up as an $80.00 charge. We ordered coffee and dessert. Dessert came out. No coffee. Fifteen minutes after the dessert plates were cleared they brought out the coffee. $1200.00 for 12 people! This is not a hundred dollar a person restaurant. They're disorganized, dismissive, and dare I say criminal. It was our holiday dinner and we really didn't want a scene. Well I wanted to call the police but clearer heads prevailed. We are locals and I can't imagine what they do to tourists. Stay away. If you don't believe me and go please check every charge. They are slippery and creepy. Food wasn't bad. Although someone said the steak was like a salt lick.
While we were seated as soon as we arrived for our reservation by a pleasant hostess, the service turned for the worse after that. It took 12 minutes for our waiter to bring us a menu and another 5 minutes before we were asked for a drink. The food was very good, we both got different veal dishes which were excellent. We didn't get the waiters name, but he appeared to be bored and at times rude. Would go back for the food and ask for a different waiter.

Let me begin by saying I have never written a negative review on any restaurant in the past. My expectations from a NYC restaurant are high but not unrealistic.
We had a reservation at 8:00 but our table was not ready. No big deal we will have a drink at the bar. The bartender was lovely.
Our table became available and the waiter brought our drinks from the bar to the table. Fine. So far so good.
We sat without a waiter for about 5 minutes. No big deal. After about 10 minutes they brought us a menu. Then approximately 10 more minutes I had to ask for a wine menu.
We sat there with no interaction for another 10 minutes and were quite fed up. We decided this was unacceptable for New York City and decided to leave. We got up and I went to the coat check to retrieve our coats ( the coat check lady was wonderful).
I went back to the bar where my wife was and asked to talk to the manager, Carlos. Carlos was anything but a manager. I could not believe how rude he was initially to my wife and then to me.
I am honestly very cordial and laid back. I would not leave a negative posting if it really doesn’t deserve it. Carlos could not have cared less that we were leaving. I told him the service was terrible and he told us that in 32 years he has never heard this in the past? Seriously? Never in 32 years. There was no attempt to placate us at all. He basically said “just leave”. We are not high maintenance at all but his attitude was disgraceful for a NYC restaurant. I sincerely hope this restaurant fails as I cannot imagine people will tolerate this horrible service for long.
Unfortunately we didn’t get to taste the food. The way this experience began we were not going to tolerate it. By contrast we had dinner at another restaurant last night but I will not mention it out of respect but you have many other choices in NYC than this place. I hope you choose a better restaurant for your dollars. I wasn’t going to spend mine here.
We were forgotten. Our server did not bring our drinks until after the food was brought out. The server also seemed to get into a verbal argument with the dessert cart server after we requested dessert and the guy did not come by. The food was slightly overpriced for what was presented.
This place is awful. It’s a big scam for people who don’t know their way around the city. The service was awful. The food was sub par. Stay away from here. Don’t waste your time. You’re better off at an Olive Garden than this place.
Wow I saw the positive reviews so I went to Arno only to be really disappointed. First of all the menu at the restaurant is more expensive than what is shown on open table (e.g. the Swordfish was actually $5 more). When we placed our order the food was at the table in less than 4 minutes telling me it was pre-cooked and just heated-up. Besides that it just wasn't that good and there are way better restaurants at better prices than this place. Note the restaurant is also very loud and at the table next to us two women were telling multiple employees that the bartender should be fired because multiple times she failed to make their cocktails the way they liked them (If they ever make a Jersey Shore show for people in their 50's they would both get starring roles). I am dumbfounded people give it a high rating and although I try and give a place the benefit of the doubt, there are way better places to spend your time and money.
