I made reservations for 7:15 because it was my son’s 14th birthday I live in Lakewood California but I dine at the Anaheim location which (I love I give them five stars in hospitality)But today I had the worst experience ever at Morton’s in Woodland I dined at Woodland Hills because my son lives with father.. and I dined at Morton’s frequently I’m a laundry card member my son loves Morton’s they have everything he likes to eat from steak oysters and loaded baked potato that’s why I chose this location today... let me start from the appetizer I order 1 dozen oysters I got 1/2 took 30min for appetizer... I had to ask for my son birthday desert, picture they said camera was broke, but everyone els had pictures then he said 6 ppl in front to get pictures. Asked for my food to go and my sons ... the server decided to throw my asparagus and crab in the trash when I took one bite when I checked my food to separate into another bag.. I notice he said “oh it fell of the plate so I threw it away” I’m like ok but I only had one bite... ? He apologized... but the timing on everything took so long. Even to get my check, my son dessert, and chocolate cake.. the manager not once asked if everything was ok, asked tables around me beside me but did not ask if my sons dinner was ok, I didn’t complain because I didn’t wanna seem like I was trying to comp or get discount!! But my son birthday dinner was horrible. I couldn’t wait to get out of Morton’s in Woodland Hills!! I’ll never dine at this location again!! The only good thing that was great was the host great personality. The place was not even busy... NEVER AGAIN!
Went for a my husband's birthday...cocktails were not enjoyable (margarita and Moscow mule had poor flavor). Served my husband the wrong steak and then he waited for the correct one while everyone else ate around him. Steak was not taken off the bill. Server was friendly but forgot to bring requested items twice (a straw; extra wonton chips for an appetizer). We had to ask a bus boy for the straw and the wontons never came so we ate the ahi tuna tower with a fork. Will not return to this restaurant. Poor display for a fine dining experience, and especially for a birthday celebration.
The first round of drinks were prepared correctly. However, subsequent order for 1 drink was very poor.
Food: Brussel Sprouts were sour and hard. Crème Spinach was sour and the potatoes augratin were terrible. To put it mildly you get better vegetables at Applebee's or Marie Calendars.
The service was very slow!!! We waited for our cocktails for a long time due to not enough martini glasses!!! Very disappointing for a high end restaurant. Finally when our martinis came, it wasn’t even the right glasses & not cold!!! We spent $800 for 6 people & we’re very disappointed. Mastros & Ruth Chris are so much better!!!
It was our 52nd anniversary and we wanted go have a special meal to celebrate. The service was outstanding without being overbearing. We enjoyed the chopped salad we split and our dntrees were both delicious and beautifully presented. Our only negative comment would be the prices; a little excessive for frequent visits. We are retired and are not in a position to spend so much often. We will save Morton's for very special occasions.
We went for our sixth anniversary. The old fashioned was solid & our appetizers were good. I’d definitely recommend the Prosciutto wrapped Mozzarella to start and the onion soup. Cajun ribeye was filled with flavor and a small bite but not too spicy. The creamed corn is to die for. Amazing! Service was great and they even gave us a photo, custom menu with “Happy 6th Anniversary”, and a soufflé. Very good experience.
We had our date night here so we could use some birthday money. I ended up getting the halibut special. It was only ok; fish was a bit dry and I didn't care for the mushrooms that came with it. My boyfriend ordered the 12 oz filet. He said it was good and it was cooked the way he wanted it. Our server was generally attentive. It was somewhat quiet in the restaurant that night - guessing it was because of the holiday weekend.
We always go to Morten's for our anniversary and they always make us feel special. The food is par excellence. The wait staff is highly trained and they always give us our favorite booth. The only tiny disappointment is that they didn't take our anniversary photo this year. We will obviously go back.
Overall it was great! My husbands dirty pork chop was amazing. I asked for my steak medium and it was rare but good. The creamed spinach had a spice in it that reminded me of gingerbread so I didn't like it. But the expresso martini was really good! Overall I enjoyed most of the experience. Then the bill came.. we did DineLa so we got a good deal but there was surcharge on the bill. They charge an additional 3% saying it is due to increase in minimum wage to all guests. That was a bit of a surprise to see.
Positives...Staff was friendly and the food was good.
Areas for improvement...It took two requests to receive the three-course dining menu promoted in Morton's recent email.
The woman seated at the table next to us was obviously unaware of restaurant cell phone etiquette. Her ringer was loud and her iPhone flashed like a strobe light that was practically blinding me. We had to ask the hostess to intervene. The patron turned off the flashing light but continued accepting calls which greatly diminished my enjoyment of the evening.
One final note was that there was a small surprise surcharge on our bill stated as follows: "A 3% surcharge will be added to our guest checks to help cover increasing costs and in support of the recent increases to minimum wage and benefits for our dedicated team members." We dine out regularly and this was a first. It seemed odd that a surcharge was added without advance notice. Why wouldn't they simply increase their menu prices 3%?
Dinner for two with one glass of wine was $136. My husband would give the food five stars. I would give it four. I would give the dining experience maybe 2.5 stars. Not sure I need to return to Morton's.
So damn expensive. The 12oz Cajun Ribeye is exquisite and is not Spicy at all although it is of course salty. Very pricey though. So was my daughter's 6oz filet which is the most expensive 6oz filet in Los Angeles. But it is delicious. Everything else is ala carte and I do mean everything. Horseradish Mashed were Luke warm. The shrimp cocktail has 5 large shrimp and they were delicious. Great wine menu and there special Manahattan was terrific. Mousse to die for. Fantastic wait staff especially our young guy who was right on with his other recommendations. He's the young tall burly guy with a great personality and a real asset to this Mortons. He's a foodie too
Once again, I received notice from American Express for "Taste of L.A." and once again, my wife and I chose Morton's for our dinner. She has some food allergies and this restaurant is always accommodating to these special requests. Funny thing, I'm not too much of a steak eater anymore so I ordered the Honey Glazed Salmon from the special menu. I'm surprised that this piece of fish was so moist and tasty considering this is really a steakhouse. To anyone who reads this, please try the Lyonaisse potatos, they are very good as well. My wife had Chicken Christopher and she said it was terrific as well. We can hardly wait to go back. Thanks Morton's for another really great experience.
We had an extremely rude encounter with a female "manager" during our visit tonight. One of our steaks was over cooked and when we brought it to our servers attention she whisked it away to be corrected. Obviously the manager wasn't aware we were sitting next to the kitchen and could hear her rude comments about us to the cooks. Here's a thought...don't blame the cut of meat or the customers for a product that was clearly overcooked. Funny....they were able to cook it correctly the second time. We won't be returning to this location due to this experience. It's sad that a restaurant like this would even allow and/or tolerate this type of behavior.
My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary and Morton's was selected as we were also gifted $100 in cards by close family friends to put towards a special occasion (we don't eat out much as we both cook well) and we chose our anniversary to do this. It was a Sunday, quiet, we had the first reservation at 5pm and the place to ourselves for pretty much the first half hour. Blake, our hostess, made us feel immediately welcome and the wait service by Austin was outstanding. Friendly, prompt and efficient but never intrusive. The manager even came by a few times to check on us and that was appreciated. Our entrees were fantastic (12 oz filet, bacon wrapped scallops and House chopped salad). I personally was disappointed in the French Onion Soup and would probably not reorder that. That dish is hit or miss no matter where you eat. Morton's graciously gifted us with a framed photo of ourselves, imprinted Happy Anniversary menus and a lemon souffle which hit the spot. Truly a memorable experience all around.
We came to participate in the 2lb lobster special and we were very glad that we came. Our server was very nice and polite. We ended up splitting a salad and some brussel sprouts to go with our lobsters. It was a wonderful way to do a late anniversary celebration. We had a great date night and will definitely return in the future.
