It was an ok dinner, not a big deal for the price... It would be ok for a 1 time experience only.
I read some reviews before booking and remember one saying Arnauds is a tourist trap, and I would agree with that. I wouldn't say this is a terrible restaurant but it was more a victim of my expectations. I believed this to be a high end dining experience and I believe Arnauds wanted me to believe that, but it simply is not. I read that they prefer men wear a jacket yet I was surrounded by Jeans and tennis shoes. The dining room is nice but the flatware is run of the mill. Our servers were attentive but clumsy. We arrived a few minutes early for our reservation and were told to wait in the bar but just after we took a seat in the bar and before we ordered a drink we were told our table was ready, it was probably 3 minutes...
We sat and ordered drinks and the shrimp Arnaud. The two servers struggled to open the bottle of prosecco we ordered and had to take it back to the kitchen to get it opened.... we ordered soup and our entrees.
The appetizer was served, it was good, the shrimp bisque came out as we finished the last bites of the appetizer, the bisque was ok, the entrees hit the the table as we finished the soup, the crab cakes were average, the veal chop was slightly under cooked but was flavorful. All this happened in the span of 35 minutes.... we still had 3 quarters of the bottle of prosecco left....
We turned down dessert based on the lackluster experience to that point. The check hit the table with the words "no rush" within 2 minutes they were back to collect and were disappointed to see weren't ready yet. They were happy to recork our bottle so that we could take it with us, don't let the door hit you in the backside on the way out. Next!!
Went for jazz brunch. Very extensive 4 course meal at an affordable price.
While this is not the restaurants fault I have to say their dess code attire requirements need some work. My husband and I had breakfast and we were turned away because he did not have a collared shirt: however he was wearing a very nice and very expensive vneck type shirt which technically would not pass their dress code requirements. Ok, my fault for assuming he looked very nice and there would be no issues. We left and bought him a collared shirt and came back. Which in retrospect we should have gone somewhere else. While dining, I noticed all the men in the restaurant were wearing collared shirts but some still looked pretty sloppy and I saw many women wearing outfits not even fit for McDonalds. Ok so if you’re going to enforce a dress code perhaps it should apply to both men and women. I was appalled after seeing a girl come in in VERY short cut off denim shorts, a belly shirt and covered in tattoos and that was Ok? Wow. The food was decent but not enough for me to go back.
Our entrees, crabmeat Karen, was just ok. The temperature was warm, not hot. There was too much pastry to filling ratio. Everything else was excellent.
The food was certainly good, and the table-side Bananas Foster was an unforgettable experience, but the best part of Arnaud's was the world-class service. We interacted with about five staff members and all of them were top notch in customer care. Their recommendations and meal timing were impeccable, and they even went above and beyond to celebrate our special event, call us by name, and show us around the restaurant.
Just fabulous. Dahlia,Juan and Silvio, our wait staff team, we're superb. Food was even better which was hard to believe. One of the best meals we've ever had. Everyone was extremely pleased with every bite of food and all courses. Wonderful wines too. Don't forget to start with a French 75!
Recommended this restaurant when she heard we were traveling to New Orleans. This was a fabulous experience. The filet mignon with mushroom sauce and bernaise was the best ever! Peanut butter cheesecake amazing. And loved the museum upstairs.
It was a wonderful fine dining experience. My companion was visiting NOLA for the first time and I wanted her to experience a classic New Orleans restaurant. Service was impeccable, the food delicious and the atmosphere classic. We had a wonderful crab claw appetizer, Arnaud salads, redfish and a light strawberry dessert. Every item was perfectly prepared and presented. The potato soufflé is hard to describe, maybe light pillows of taste.
I was most impressed with an extensive, properly priced wine list. I am really disturbed by wine list prices that are totally out of line with the wine’s value, not the case at Arnaud’s. It was an extremely pleasant evening.
This restaurant convinced us that old legendary French Quarter restaurants are just resting on their laurels.
Service was very disappointing. Food sounds great on the menu page, but not so much in reality.
When I told the server that I am allergic to shellfish, even though she had just taken my order, she said she wished I had told her sooner, like it was my fault. And was rather huffy about it.
The smoked pompano appetizer was nothing special, and served with only four small toast points, which seemed really inadequate and frankly, quite dinky.
Boyfriend's filet was TINY. He ordered it medium, and it was rare as rare could be. The fried oysters also were TINY. My fish amandine was fine, though the sauce itself had an odd viscosity to it... as if it had been thickened with flour (why?)
The staff there is oblivious. When we were leaving, the maitre d was joking with other staff members and they were blocking the exit. Infuriating.
Boyfriend said he'd never paid $150 for such a dissatisfying meal before. And we won't be dining there again.
Awesome final night of a conference in town. Outstanding!
We can’t in at the last serving. Felt rushed and unattended to. Serves weren’t great with recommendations food was ok, not great.
Best food and atmosphere for a fine dining night out! Staff was very friendly and accommodating!
Great staff, Great food, Great service. I will definitely recommend this restaurant to others
Very busy noise level extremely high food is classic New Orleans and very good a must to go Dewey our server was exceptional
This is one of the tourists' trap place, that everyone wanted to visit just because...We went for Sunday jazz brunch, it was nice experience overall, but I do not think it's a must to visit place since there are many cheaper and good options available. I did not regret that we went once, but will not return.
Very poor value for money. We were there for Sunday brunch - the food lacks flavor and there seems to be more focus on tableside presentation, rather than ingredients and food preparation. While the staff were attentive, the food bordered on glorified cafetaria food. And the "jazz" was mediocre. This dining icon seems to be well past its prime.
We were in town for my wife’s birthday. We were going to Wicked but it was canceled due to terrible accident. With that said this ended up our big event of the night. The service and food were excellent. What I had issue with was knowing the dress code we sat next to a table with a man in a leather blazer with no shirt( code says collared shirt) and short leather shorts. The code is no shorts. Why have the code if it doesn’t mean anything. I could eaten at popeyes if i wanted to eat with mixed crowd. It’s not like it was a tshirt, but it was no shirt and shorts which is plainly stated.
Good but very noisy.
The staff performed a miracle and got our party of 6 in because we had made our reservation on the wrong night. We showed up and they moved mountains to accommodate us! So grateful!!
Fantastic dinner at a bourbon street classic
Great meal in a place with a lot of history.
Delicious! I really enjoyed the Arnaud Oyster appetizer and our fish entrees. The service was also excellent.
We had a delightful dinner at Arnaud's. The food was great and when we mentioned to the servers that we had a tour to get to, they did everything they could to hurry our dessert.
A terrific restaurant, with terrific service, and terrific food!!!
Wonderful dining experience
Good, but not what we remembered. Service was excellent. Attire requirements have really relaxed over time unfortunately
All great, except Pompano overcooked.
Just a great restaurant. Everything perfect from food to service to ambiance. Historical place and highly recommended.
Sunday brunch was a pleasure and our best experience in New Orleans. The music and atmosphere was lovely. A welcoming and processional staff!
GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE, EXCELLENT MEAL, PROMPT SERVICE AND FOOD PREPARED QUICKLY.
The jazz band, the atmosphere, the attention to detail and your specific needs/desires, all put this at the top of my list for branching in NOLA. Cheers to a week run, tight ship.
There new pre-game brunch was excellent.
This was our second time visiting Arnaud’s. We felt the service was lacking, response times were very slow, waitstaff was brusque and unfriendly. The redeeming quality was that the food was fantastic, as one would expect. We will try not to visit again on a weekend night, as it was much busier than the last time we were there on a weekday night, and we often felt forgotten in the sea of patrons.
Amazing experience enjoying the company of friends! We loved the bananas foster! It’s a must visit with your trip to NOLA!
Excellent dinner in the French quarter. If you are looking for a restaurant that provides great table service, excellent food and the warm bread that you wish you could eat more of this is the place. We all tried something different, the redfish, the chicken and the gumbo were are delicious. The braised shrimp with the eggplant relish was amazing. We ended the night with the blueberry torte. Just yum. Definitely a place that is casual and has all the flavors of New Orleans
My husband and I have eaten at Arnaud's for years and after moving away, really missed it. It was great to return with a good friend and enjoy it again!
Lovely as always
The food was amazing. The entire waitstaff was attentive and helpful. The strawberries desser were absolutely fantastic.
