They were a little slow getting a server to us. Once they did, he was very attentive and friendly. The portions are pretty good sized, so we didn't need an appetizer...but we did anyway. Everything was delicious. My wife ordered the Eggplant Lasagna. She said it was one of the best Italian dishes she's had. The restaurant was noisy, but not loud. We enjoyed our visit very much. Definitely worth the stop.
We are big fans of Armand’s. Never had a bad experience here. The staff are fabulous and the food is even better!
Cool yet kid friendly - awesome
Good food and service at a reasonable price in Chicago's South Loop
Family get together
Long wait for food courses on that Friday night. Waiter blamed large private function upstairs. No excuse. Restaurant should have planned extra staff for extra business.
First time here. Great place. Will definitely return on my next trip to Chicago.
Best kept secret in the city. Yubba dubba delicious!
Well-prepared food, friendly service at a reasonable price.
AmaIng food. Large portions. Only downfall is how loud it is
Armand’s always a great choice in South Loop. Our fav spot in South Loop. Great bar and dining. Servers great especially Bobby!
There was a mistake made on one of our orders. My husband’s meal came out wrong so the server took it back to make another. By the time it came back, I was finished and we had to leave because we had a child with us so we took his dinner to go. These things happen, we totally get it, but here are two problems with the situation:
1. We were the only table in the dining room so the manager should have stopped by and addressed the issue. He stopped to say hi but if he was “managing” his staff and the dining room, he would have been aware that the only table in the dining room had a problem, and said something more.
2. Nothing was adjusted on the bill at all. One guest at the table had to take his meal to go, so I expected some sort of gesture, even small.
On the way out, my husband pointed this out to the server in front of the manager, who turned away and pretended not to notice...again, completely empty dining room.
Such a simple gesture as an apology from the manager and a comped glass of wine or maybe dessert for our little son who sat patiently through this. Or even just an apology and thanks for coming in. Nothing was offered. If you want to be a neighborhood restaurant you need to treat your neighbors well. Pizza, salad, wine, over $90 spent...a waste.
The food was great, as always! Server was terrible!
Atmosphere was great, a little loud in dining area. Our bartender was really good and so was our waiter. We all had a great night!
I hate to say how great this place is.... I don't want the hood gem to get on a waitlist :)
Fantastic old school Italian, great service, wonderful dishes, chicken parm, linguine with clams, pizza, chicken Marsala. Not a bad item on the menu. Will come back next time in Chicago!
Always a great meal.
The staff is amazing, and the food is excellent. I've gone a handful of time and never had the same meal twice. Everything is fantastic!
Best Italian restaurant in the city. We have been here a number of times and it never disappoints. Joes’s Mama’s meatball is delicious! The brick chicken is truly one of the best I have every had! I also love the orecchiette rapini & sausage. So good and even better the next day. My husband loves the pappardelle bolognese. Truly you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu.
Chicken vesivio was tasteless, soup was cold and we didn’t even get the side dish of pasta that comes with the meal ,I was so disappointed I didn’t even realize it until I got home.
Our waiter was great at recommending and guiding us through the menu. His name was Victor I think! Would defintely go back. The way they serve you when your food comes out was conveniant since we had a small table with little space!
Great food and atmosphere!
We were sat nearly 30 minutes after our reservation. The restaurant took a number of large groups (8 or more people) which reduced the number of standard 4 tops available for general seating.
Birthday celebration. Food was good. I loved the classic 50-60 music and pictures all over the resturant.
Always good dining
Excellent! The best restaurant in the South Loop!
We walked in the restaurant and there was a terrible smell. They told us the sewer backed up and there was water behind the bar area. We were seated in the dining area. Our service was slow and then we began to smell even more of the sewer problem. When you are spending $24 for glass of wine, it would be nice to enjoy it and not smell sewer water. As we left, the entire front of the restaurant was flooded and they were still seating new guests and serving FOOD! Why did they not close the restaurant with such a health hazard? When you spend over $200 for dinner, you don't expect to have to walk thru 2 inches of water!
Overall, good food and busy. Service was spotty. I asked a non-server for a bread basket and was ignored. However, food was good. Would return and possibly sit at bar
Our service was fantastic! Marcus did way above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. The food was spectacular. Took some time to get our table, even with a reservation, but we had a delightful time.
Excellent food and service!
Our table was never offered bread, one of the entrees did get put in, and then we were never offered dessert. While the setting was lovely and the food was delicious, it seemed as though the restaurant was rushing us out and not very attentive to the table.
Neighborhood gem! Armand's is vibrant yet cozy. It's the perfect place for date night or a girls night out. The staff are very friendly, energetic and accommodating.
Hated sitting in the upstairs party room for New Year's Eve dinner. Atmosphere was not enjoyable. However I did have a last minute change to my reservation from 4 people to 6 and Dino was very personable and promised we would be accommodated. Food was not hot, and portions seemed a little smaller than usual. Little disappointed for our NYE dinner.
Overall, we had an excellent dining experience at Armand's. The only complaint we had was that the noise level was off the charts. The service, food and wine was spectacular. Our evening was marred however because it was so difficult to converse. I'm not sure if this can be remedied, but if it could, ours would have been a 5 star experience.
We went for NYE dinner. We really enjoyed the ambiance, and service was quite good. However, the food did not meet expectations. Appetizers were pretty good--we had the meatballs, eggplant, and brussels. However, many of the entrees were extremely bland tasting. The fettuccine alfredo in particular tasted just like watery pasta. There was no salt or pepper at all. Perhaps it was just an off-night given the craziness of NYE. We hope the food is better on a normal day as we really did enjoy the environment.
We went for an early dinner on New Years Eve. It's one of our favorite restaurants in the neighborhood. The burrata salad is wonderful, and the pizza is always a good choice. The spaghetti and meatballs are usually good, but seemed a little salty this time.
Friends celebrating the holidays.
I would have given 5 stars but it was extremely noisy and the restaurant was not that busy. We were seated in the corner near the kitchen and we were virtually yelling at each other to get over the din of music and others conversation. All that said, food and service were good and we would go back but never to that area of the restaurant.
Service can be inconsistent. Our service Peter was outstanding on this visit.
