The twice refried beans were magical. I don’t like refried beans normally and I couldn’t stop eating them.
We've been going to Armando's since it opened decades ago on Shepherd, and generally like it. But this particular visit, it was crazy busy - loud, and not easy to talk to our friends. At least we were in a booth, which helped. I suspect because of the crowd, the service wasn't very attentive.
The Queso Flameado, one of the old standbys, did not disappoint our friends, who had not been there before. I got the chicken enchiladas. They were OK, but nothing special (especially for the price). I should have gotten the spinach enchiladas, as my husband did. The spinach is freshly sautéed. The sauce on top is an unnatural green, but it plus the almonds sprinkled on make for a really good dish. The beans are probably made with lard, they're so good - but worth every bite!
Simply the best there is.
We had a lovely dinner with their special Valentine’s Day menu. Our waiter made our meal even more enjoyable.
Just mediocre. Worst margaritas we’ve had in Houston and we’ve lived here for 15 years. Had really high expectations and was really disappointed. The service was very attentive but good and drinks- terrible.
Excellent food and service on Valentines Day with friends.
The service was great!! The food was delicious as well! We look forward to returning!
We are regulars at Armando's. This time, the restaurant was filled with large tables of big groups
and was so loud. Two of us ordered fish tacos with red snapper and sauce on the side. The came with a lot of sauce on them, and the fish was fishy. Once we flagged down our waiter he quickly
replaced our fish tacos with something else and was very apologetic about the problem. Everyone else enjoyed their food- shrimp and beef fajitas and a chicken dish. We will go back because of location, and it can be a fun evening.
Food, service, and drinks were great as always.
Great atmosphere ... beautiful people... come to party
