We took a couple that had never been before, and had recently moved from Austin. We had a drink at the bar before going to the table- which is always fun. And then had a great dinner with spicy margaritas, queso flameado, and carnitas! It was all fabulous. But as always, the refried beans are always the BEST!!! This is a great place for dinner with friends. And its much nicer than your standard TexMex joints.
This place embodies “high-end Tex-mex”. My gf and I wanted a nice place to go to before we ended our TX vacation, and Armandos did not disappoint. The food, the ambiance, the service, the prices, the location. Everything was as good as expected and then some
Delicious food in a sophisticated setting with wonderful decor and service!
Amazing and beautiful place, my girlfriend and I came her for valentines days and we came back for a second time. Absolutely the best service and hospitality here,no down sides and I was filled with good food, staff is Extremely coordinated, and I will recommend coming here on a lovely dinner with a date with your significant other.
I met up with 10 friends for our 35th high school reunion at Armando’s. A blast from the past! Reservations were simple, there was no problem splitting the check for our large party and we were seated in the back room where it was quiet enough for all of us to visit without yelling. A wonderful experience!
A great tex mex restaurant, food was of a very high standard as was the service and ambiance.
Service and food were good. The waiter was attentive but not overly so. I was shocked that there were so many open tables throughout our dinner as I had a hard time getting a reservation and it was a Saturday night. I ended up picking a 6:30 time which was too early but the only time available. There were 3 open booths but the hostess told us they were all reserved and we could not sit there. Around 8:30, a couple came in and they requested a booth and were promptly seated. I questioned the hostess and she said the reservations for the booths were cancelled. We complained to our waiter who told us he would talk with the manager. The manager never came over to see us. We are not sure that we will be going back as there are too many restaurants in Houston with better overall service.
Armandos is the best! We love the food and the service is great!
Great neighborhood place with wonderful food and good people watching!
Treated my beau to Aramandos for his birthday and we both enjoyed the ambiance, customer service, and food. We sat in the bar area, which became a little noisy, but it is expected. The service was top-notch, I notified Armandos we were celebrating a birthday and my beau was presented with a lovely slice of tres laches cake with Happy Birthday written on the plate. The food was amazing, the taste and presentation were second to none. Great date nite place, I wholeheartedly recommend Armandos
Food quality excellent: best grilled salmon in wine sauce in Houston, fresh salad without chopped romaine filler, enchiladas that were light and not smothered in sauce. Service was friendly but a little abrupt; on the other hand, we were a difficult table. Highly recommended.
Had not been in awhile and returned for HRW menu. We were not disappointed. Armandos remains one of Houston's most beautiful restaurants. When you want upscale, unusual, and delicious Mexican food in a gorgeous setting, this is your place. Service is always top notch too. I always keep it as an option for visiting guests since it shows Houston at its best and authentic Mexican food. The margaritas are real margaritas. I tried the Smoke and Honey cocktail which was different and refreshing (better like mezcal...). We had the queso flameado which is a must at Armandos. Again, on the HRW menu, we opted for the Spinach Enchiladas which are heavy on the spinach, but delicious and perfectly seasoned and cooked. Very fresh. Tres Leches for dessert. Wonderful! And if you want more...the Birthcake Martini is kinda special too.
Great atmosphere, lots of energy, wonderful food, and to-die-for margaritas!
This is the best place to eat my family wants to go there at least once a week to eat and every birthday dinner.
High quality Tex mex food in a lovely setting
It was great!!
Worst tortillas ever!!!!
Acerage food, good service, nice ambiance
Always a treat to dine at Armandos. We had guests visiting from out of town and the evening was extra special. Great food, great service!
Ribeye was very under cooked, sent back and 2nd steak over cooked and tough. Entree was removed from bill, but 2 strikes. Dinner was on a Monday evening, so few diners. They sat us back in corner, service was slow and not very attentive, especially when considering the few number of tables being served.
Family event during restaurant week.
The best in Houston!
Daughter’s college graduation! Armandos was wonderful. Food was delicious and service was excellent.
As always, the food is great, attentive service and fun people watching!
My friend who paid the ill
They were great about letting us bringing in a cake for our son’s birthday. Food was delicious.
Armandos never, ever disappoints. We always bring our out-of-town friends here during their visits and everyone finds the food incredible, the service kind and attentive and the ambiance fun!
The best Tex Mex in Houston. A very consistent experience
Visiting from out of town. Armandos had been recommended by a friend so we went despite less than favorable reviews on Yelp. Reviews were right on the money. Very average food but greatly overpriced. Salsa was too running to keep on a chip. Guacamole dip was very bland with very minimal cilantro/ onion seasoning. Taco al Carbon was average but expensive, as was the Panchita. Margaritas are way over priced and mediocre.
On the positive side, service was good.
I've had much better quality texmex food back home in the midwest for half the price. Believe the vast majority of the reviews on Yelp. Safe your money and go elsewhere. I will next time I'm in town.
This is the first meal at Armandos that was not great - the Steak Enchiladas were marginal and not a good value at $28. Additionally, my wife had the Chicken Verde Enchiladas and they too were marginal.
We dine often at Armandos and always have a wonderful meal - just not this time.
I come often it was tooooo loud not the customer but the music. Food, drink, and service was great
I would recommend Armandos to friends, but would warn them that on a Saturday night, plan on not having a conversation with your table mates, and plan on several hours of dining. Pros: Food and margaritas were very good. The ribeye enchiladas was amazing! Cons: exceptionally loud. Service was not very timely (I understand b/c it's a Saturday night, but why seat us and have us ask for menus after sitting for over 20 minutes? Maybe to sell more Margaritas first lol). We just felt that it was odd we were not given menus up front, but it wasn't bad enough to be miserable. Overall, I'd return but on a more quiet night (if I want to have conversations with people).
The food and service were excellent, as always. I also enjoy the Sangria.
The place is simply great. Been going there for 12 years! Consistently great food, outstanding service, great atmosphere! One of our favorite everyday dining restaurants!
Fantastic as usual! Only thing missing is seeing Armando or Cinda their once in a while!
So sorry for our absence we have been very busy in Round Top with our new restaurants. Soon we will be back in town much more. So grateful that you miss us!!
Always a delightful experience
Absolutely the best restaurant in town to celebrate birthdays with family and friends
Horrible service. We were placed in the back private dining room for our 6 person group. The waiter rarely checked on us since the rest of his tables were in the main dining room. Food took forever to come out. A thirty person birthday party was seated in the rest of the room midway through our meal so then our waiter went completely missing. We flagged down a busboy to get our check. A manager finally came with one. No excuses from him. I have never had such poor service here. Not their normal. Disappointed but will return for a future visit.
