Our all time fav!
Armando's has become one of our "must visit" restaurants in Houston when we come in for the US Men's Clay Court Championship at River Oaks CC. The food is wonderful and so is the service. This visit Jorge convinced us to try the chocolate brownie and the churros for dessert. Out of this world!!
Food & Service was great! We all loved the Salsa- both red & green! The guacamole was as it should be, very fresh and pure not a lot of extras added.
It was our first time there and it was a friend's birthday. Our server got some drink orders wrong and when we ordered a large and small Queso Flameado for the table, they brought out only one order and when we asked the server where the other order was, he just said they are bring it now. The food ok, but very disappointing.
It was perfect!
I love Armando's. I liked seeing Mr Palacios there on Thursday. We had an early reservation, 6:30. My friends and I like to dine early, then go home. We are chronologically gifted ladies, friends for 30 years. Armando's is perfect for us. Dining early, the noise level is fine. I gave you category 'noise level' a non-perfect rating because by the time we were in our last 20 minutes, the noise level was very high. I think that is fine for the restaurant at that late hour.
We had a wonderful meal tonight, celebrating my Mom’s 94th birthday! Our waiter was so attentive and responsive. The food was great, and the drinks were wonderful. We all had a good time and will definitely go back.
My college roommate was in town for a meeting from New York. He was totally blown away by the food and the service. I knew that it was typical for this extraordinary restaurant. My little girl loved the refritos I brought home. Thanks for a wonderful evening.
Food was amazing, My wife is still raving about the Surf and Turf. Everything was wonderful.
Armandos has excellent service and exceptional Mexican dishes with a great variety to choose from. The decor and ambiance all add to a great night out! It is our family’s first choice for a delicious night out!!!
Best Mexican food in Houston. Hands down. Great ambiance if you are looking for an upscale Mexican vibe in River Oaks/ Upper Kirby area. Also, service is wonderful too.
Awesome! I had a great time!
Great food and service
This was my first time dining at Armandos. The food was outstanding and the margaritas were strong :-)
It was very loud and hard to visit with my mom but overall we really enjoyed our visit.
Our server, Nick, was GREAT, we had a great service, my food and beverages were perfect, and we had a great table. Loved the girls at the door too.
We were able to get an early reservation at the last minute and had a great time. The service is impeccable. The food is fantastic and a good value. The bar has a great selection of specialty drinks along with good old stand bys..
I’m hoping this was a bump in the road, because we have been to Armando’s dozens of times over the years, dating back to when he operated out of a little house on Shepherd. This time, I ordered Carne Guisada, a traditional Mexican stew, and well, he should just take this item off the menu. It is not good. My wife’s steak and crab cake combo was good (she liked her steak, and I had the crab cake, and it was pretty good). The rest of the meal was good enough. Service was good as always.
We dined early, at 5:00, so for about an hour we had the place to ourselves. We received amazing service, but we also recognized they were in set up mode for the larger expected crowd to come. I could not believe how much effort the staff put into the cleaning of chairs, polishing of tableware, folding of napkins, etc. it was so nice and rare to see such pride. This makes it a must return for me. Oh, and the food was delish, served hot and presented with a special touch.
Great service and as always, great food!!!
This evening was disappointing. We had friends in town and brought them to a favorite restaurant. It was so loud we couldn’t visit. Unlike other nights when the place is full it was just too crowded. Our waiter was rushed and not personable.
We love armondos
Great food, service & ambiance!! Pricey, but delicious.
It was delicious, amazing and PERFECT as always.
My husband and I generally eat here once a week. The food is consistently very good.
I could tell that this is a very popular place among the locals. The service was excellent. The house frozen was a generous size, strong and not overly sweet. I always judge a Mexican restaurant by the chips and salsa. The green sauce was delicious. I loved that the red sauce was served warm. It was good but needed salt and a bit more kick. I had Flaco’s. I loved the crispy taco. The little salsa that came with the dish was super hot! Loved that. My daughter inhaled her cheese enchiladas and my husband loved his carnitas tacos. We shared the brownie which was three large triangles with dice Ream and two sauces. If in this area again I would come back.
One of my favorite restaurants in Houston since 1979. In all of its incarnations. Love love love.
Love Armandos! Has been my favorite for over 30 years! Thank you for taking care of us! Excellent table, ambiance, service and always fun seeing Armando!
Had a wonderful time celebrating my son’s 18th birthday! The food was delicious and the service was excellent! Looking forward to going back!
Excellent dinner. Great service.
Food is delicious but I wish they would do something about the tables being so close to each other
Valentines Day was perfect at Armando’s. Elegant ambience, delicious food, exceptional service and fabulous margaritas!
We had a wonderful dining experience from start to finish. The service was truly outstanding. The food was excellent. Looking forward to going back
Excellent Chilean Seabass served on a bed of sautéed spinach with a pineapple salsa. My husband had the red snapper which he also enjoyed. The refried beans are the bomb but probably full of bacon grease. Chips and salsa are really good homemade chips I believe. Respectable strong margaritas which is my barometer for a Solid Mexican restaurant. It’s pricey for Mexican food, but you pay for the atmosphere. Service was very good the night we went which was a Sunday. We will definitely be back
Food and service is always amazing. We love Armomdo’s.
Thursday night disco dancing is a blast along with great food and drinks.
Always delicious! Thank you!
Very good food but service was lacking. Also we were sat in the "private room" area which is quieter but atmosphere not as good as main restaurant.
Armando's delivers reliable Tex-Mex with extra attentive and professional service. (Thanks, George) The atmosphere is like a neighborhood restaurant where many patrons know each other and the servers. Tables are packed in tight, lights are low-ish. Servers in all black, tables in white. Nice ambiance for a Tex-Mex restaurant. Margaritas are thankfully not too sweet. Skinny Margarita was delicious. Tortilla chips are homemade with fried corn tortillas - thick and hearty. Red salsa is served warm and has a roasty taste. Green sauce is DIVINE> could have eaten it with a spoon. Ingredients all high-quality. We requested custom guacamole and it came in a snap, prepared in an instant. My husband had Carne Guisada. It had a redder gravy that most others, reliant on lots of chile powder. Served with authentic homemade flour tortillas, nice rice and some of the best refried beans I've had in decades (clearly also house-made). I had the Snapper Veracruzano special. At $40, it's a lot to pay for Mexican food, but it was 10 X better than the snapper I had last weekend at Pappadeaux! The filet was beautifully presented with tail still on but not a single bone. Artfully arranged with steamed fresh spinach and grilled veggies that were beautiful and edible. The portion was huge - I took it home for a whole additional meal. We will be back soon to try the fajitas. I wish Armando's was open for lunch. Keep up the good work!
Amazing food. Volume loud....but had a great time.
