Been there twice and will definitely return. Enjoyed the music it was a great evening! Highly recommend it to friends
We all know that portion size is getting larger by the minute. This place has on their menu 2 size portions for you to choose from. And they already say that they're small portion in feed two people, and their large portion feeds 4.
We tried the veal marsala and the eggplant rollatini. We would have licked the plate if it was socially permissible. Thankfully, they give you garlic knots, so we use those instead.
They have a great selection of desserts and wines.
From the outside it doesn't look like much, but inside it gives you the feeling of being 4 forks restaurant.
It has cozy outdoor area, and live music on certain days of the week.
Overall, a good find in the middle of a residential area.
Decided to try this little spot for a rare dinner without kids, and last chance we would have to do it for a while (hubby off to training for several months.) Hoping for a romantic dinner close to home. Dinner started off promising, decent wine list, several beers on tap, calamari promised to be "spicy." Unfortunately our salads came out before the calamari, then a young man exited the kitchen with our dinner plates and was stopped by our waitress who told him we had not yet received our appetizer. Having waited tables in college I told my husband I hoped they would be re-making our dinners & not sitting them under a heat lamp...no such luck. Calamari finally came out and was very tasty, unfortunately followed immediately by lukewarm clams for my husband and room temperature veal marsala for me. I'm not sure if the sauce on the veal thickened under the heat lamp or not, but it was not as light as marsala sauce typically is. Additionally, our waitress wanted to regale us with all of the details of her other tables' requests as to why our drinks were not attended to timely, etc. I don't think we will be back.
Everytime we go we have a great time and a great meal! Once again thank you
Food was good, service was terrible. One person in our party got her salad immediately, others got served salads seconds before their entrees. Two entrees were delayed by 10 - 15 minutes after the rest of our party was served. Waiter explained that the entrees were inadvertently served to another table! No one from management came to apologize or offer a discount or free dessert or even a coffee! Also had to keep asking for water and refills on beverages. We will think twice about returning to this restaurant!
Went there Sunday for dinner and was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was ...Everything was absolutely delicious ..... authentic Italian food at its best...
The food was amazing! We loved the music but it was a bit loud for a small restaurant and our table was right in front of the performer and his speaker. We will absolutely be going back!
Service much very good and food was excellent. Penne a la Vodka was great as was the Lasagna. Huge portions that are great to take home. Will be back.
Always great food, great service from our great server (Ana), great value!
Food is tasty. We went on a Friday when John Lewis was performing. He is sensational. Our waitress mixed up a few things but nothing tragic. She was VERY pleasant and accommodating. I have been four or five time s and really wish they would expand the menu. That’s my only complaint. More chops, seafood and fish would be a lovely complement.
Great food at a reasonable price. I got grilled salmon, baked potato and steamed cauiflower. DH got pasta and we both really enjoyed our food. Good selection of wine. Live music that was entertaining but not so loud you had to yell to converse. Our first time there, but definitely won't be our last.
We had a great time celebrating a birthday at Basilico Italiano! It’s one of our favorite restaurants and we highly recommend!
My brother and sister-in-law were in town on a business trip and we wanted to find a place close enough to their hotel that they wouldn’t have to drive too far. The staff made us feel so welcome. They made us feel like family, introducing us to everyone and reminiscing about growing up in a Italian family. The mussels were fantastic, as was the bruschetta, but the entrees! I highly recommend the penne ala vodka and my husband said the veal parm was excellent. It will become a regular place for date night.
Awesome place. Can’t wait for next time!
Disappointing. We eat here very often. From cold meatball appetizer to questionable service to lower than normal quality food, this was our worst experience. Will definitely take it into account when making reservations next time.
Amazing food, authentic taste and flavors, and good wine selection. Second time back and consistent experience.
If you enjoy good Italian food in a friendly, warm atmosphere I would recommend Basilico. The menu is pretty broad from pizza and spaghetti to our favorite stacked eggplant appetizer and several delicious salads. The prices are very reasonable. I like that they have both individual and family size portions available. Last Wednesday we went with a group of 10 and enjoyed half price bottles of wine. We have also had the chance to enjoy some very good local musicians on the nights they offer music. The owners are often on the premises and making sure everyone is taken care of. They make you feel like family.
I have heard mixed reviews in the past about this restaurant. We decided to take a chance. Last night was the best time.
Went for my birthday had a blast. It was 13 of us and our waitress Julia did great. The garlic knots were the best I had since leaving NYC. The atmosphere was fun and lively thanks to the singer John Lewis. Singing all the standards and then invited me and friends up to dance. That started a party.
The food was good, service friendly. Then John ask if anyone sings. So my niece volunteered and put on a show singing "At Last" people thought she was lip syncing 😂 It was such a great time we will go back again. Basilico's was the best.
Excellent food, service and entertainment. Pizza fantastic. My wife loves the Lemmon chicken. Shrimp scampi is fantastic. I’ve lived in Charlotte for over 66 years, this is my all time favorite Italian restaurant
Terrific Service and Excellent Food!
The food is authentic and delicious!! Service to top notch!! The owner, Laurie is a peach! Our favorite neighborhood restaurant.
Great local spot near my neighborhood. I liked the food and the entertainment!
Love love love Basilico. Wonderful atmosphere, great food and fabulous service!
Food was good. Music ok, but not something I would usually listen to. Service was fair. I had ordered a drink which took 15 minutes as waitress forgot. I made reservations and was given small table near bar , kitchen. It was very cramped . Wine prices were very high .
The service was extremely slow we couldn't get something as simple as a beer in a timely fashion. We were extremely hungry waiting for the food to come out one it did finally come out it was good. The service could use some major improvement.
LOVE this place!! I have been there twice and they know me by name
Sat at the bar due to Vanentine’s Day crowding but we were treated just as well as the table guests - thank you!
great food great people , always attentive to their customers ..
Service was fine. The owner (I believe) was very friendly. Complimentary garlic knots were fine, but hard on the outside. Would have been very good had they been soft (we had 2 baskets, and both were the same). Stromboli was good, but the pasta dishes... terrible! None of the 3 dishes were al dente (an Italian restaurant that overcooks pasta???)? I had penne vodka. It looked and tasted like Ragu or Prego had been poured over the penne. Sorry, canned would have been just as good.
We had the meatballs, fried zucchini, eggplant parm and chicken parm. Everything was delicious and service was great. The garlic knots were yummy as well. Cheesecake was wonderful as well. No complaints!
Great family restaurant for comforting Italian food. The service was excellent and very attentive. Live music and a very family friendly atmosphere. We will be back.
Thank you, Adrienne! Looking forward to seeing you again!
Great food. Tables were a little crammed together and cheesecake was frozen when cutting into it. Will go back though as menu looks great
Overall, the meal started out great with the meatball appetizer and garlic knots. The marinara sauce is very good and tasted great for both starters. Unfortunately, after that, the food was poor. I got a wedge salad, which I had two bites and discarded. The blue cheese dressing was meh and worst part was the bacon bits from the jar. Expecting a little more quality on a wedge salad. My wife got the onion soup but tasted like a salt bomb. Onto dinner, where we ordered the chicken parm and Alfredo. Alfredo looked okay but the chicken had little to no flavor without the marinara and the noodles were mush from being over-cooked. The worst part had to be dessert, which is typically the favorite for us. We ordered chocolate cake and the cheesecake. Chocolate cake was very dry and didn't get eaten. Lastly, the cheesecake was good but we had to let it thaw as it was clearly frozen prior, which again...disappointing. We were hoping for a good Italian restaurant close by but this place missed the mark.
On a good note, there was an individual in there singing that was very good and we enjoyed that.
We were very impressed with everything and will definitely be back.
Thank you so much, Janet!! We appreciate it!!
My boyfriend and I went for the first time during Queen’s Feast. It was incredibly crowded when we got there, but the hostess assured us we would be seated next and she gave us each a complimentary glass of wine while we ate. Once we were seated, the waitress took our order and then we didn’t see her, or any food, for about 45 minutes. Their Queens Feast menu featured 4-courses, and when our waitress finally checked on our ticket, she brought the first 3-courses all out at the same time. I was unable to eat everything because I didn’t have the time between courses to enjoy each dish independently.
The food and service were excellent. We expected the minimal fare that is typically offered for Restaurant Week at other establishments. We were not expecting the four course full portion meal that we got. Everything was prepared just right and we were continually asked if everything was satisfactory. We'll definitely add this to our normal rotation.
Great place! Staff is friendly, food is great and having a guitarist singing familiar songs made this a wonderful way to take advantage of restaurant week and celebrate my wife’s birthday.
Would HIGHLY recommend!!
Thank you so much! We are so glad you enjoyed it!!
I would have given them a 5 star rating if the bartender didnt try to ignore me. Yes they were busy but they didnt even ask me if i needed anything, all you have to do is acknowledge the customer and you buy yourself 5 minutes. That happened right when i arrived, after that incident, i couldnt have been more impressed! Our waiter was amazing, even the bus boy was super nice! Thank you for everything! My wife and i really enjoyed our visit. Tell you bar staff to communicate not just side eye the customer when they are busy.
I would like to try again outside of restaurant week. I feel like they were overwhelmed and not prepared for the volume. The food was good and the server was great. We had a long wait for everything. The music was way too loud which would be my biggest complaint. I enjoy music but the place is too small for live music that loud. We couldn’t carry on a conversation. We actually left to go to another restaurant for drinks only so we could hang out and talk.
