Food is excellent as is expected from someone like Kristin Kish. Service was pretty good, we had some long gaps between food but nothing crazy. The restaurant is a little loud, but it used to be a TGIFridays so the acoustics aren’t quite set up for what it seems they are going for, but it wasn’t deafening. Overall excellent place to eat and have a good time. Will be back!
Amazing experience. Everything recommended to us was delicious. Get the crispy rice, trust me!
Definitely not a good experience from the beginning to the end.The hostess got very annoyed when we didn’t want to sit at a table where the sun was blinding us no matter the position of the chairs ( maybe the restaurant will consider some window shades in the future, considering that summers are long in TX). We got a different table eventually with the hostess constantly showing that she’s annoyed with us but given a specific time to leave, which actually it turned out to be not a problem because the quality of food made us hurry up and leave. Everything was extremely salty, especially the burrata ( and that’s a dish that should have a very gentle taste to the palate). Only 4 main dishes to chose from, a ridiculous pricey wagyu beef steak which I’m glad we didn’t ordered considering that a simple burger dish that we had was so tasteless, just a patty of very salty meat. We could’ve had a much tastier burger at P Terry’s or even Red Robin probably for half of the price. We had to constantly ask for water because of all that salt. We had one margarita made with the cheapest ingredients. We couldn’t even have more than one drink although maybe that was the point of all that salty food, to ask for more drinks…. The silverware was probably inherited from the previous TGI Friday’s restaurant that used to be there, cheap plastic handles. If you ask for such high prices for the very few dishes that cover the menu you should use at least appropriate plates and silverware. The lazy Susan is way too big for the table, people have to keep their plate right on the corner of the table in order to be able to eat. We like to go to good restaurants, try new places, we don’t have a problem to pay good money for a good meal and good experience but this place is a big NO for everything. Definitely not going back.
Absolutely the best culinary experience in Austin. We can't stop talking about how great the food, service and atmoshpere was. Cannot wait to return.
The food was very good but the restaurant had several pretentious policies like reserving seating for VIPs and automatically setting gratuity for small parties. Unfortunately, this created an atmosphere that was not typical in the Austin food scene and it detracted from the overall experience.
Awesome dinner - food was superb and service was impeccable
Great food, great ambiance
The front of the house doesn’t know what they are doing. The host was rude and the very first moments in the restaurant affected the entire evening. The small plates were incredible. However the bigger plates which we had to wait over an hour for were average and over priced. It just seems that the entire restaurant, menu included, was trying to be Silicon Valley / Hollywood trendy. However, they do not have the crew or the food to compare to the west coast.
This was my second time visiting Arlo Grey and it yet again exceeded expectations. The wait staff goes above and beyond to make your experience exceptional. The food speaks for itself with the badass Kristen Kish’s creativity. Will forever be a fan and hope to be back soon.
Yummy food, wonderful service and good wine list! It’s a little pricey, but worth it for a splurge! We were originally seated at a high top near the window - and the sun made that pretty uncomfortable for those facing west - but they were able to accommodate a move to a booth.
The food exceeded our expectations! We had the server's recommendations. Would come again!
One of these rare occasions where the meal, from appetizer to dessert was amazing. Charlie was passionate about his work and his knowledge and recommendations off the menu were spot on.
Loved the food and the service at Arlo Grey. We had the burrata, mafaldini, street corn and crispy rice. The mafaldini and street corn dishes were our favorites. The crispy rice was a bit of a miss for us, but overall we had a wonderful experience. The cocktails were great too!
Our server Bran was excellent! They made excellent suggestions and quickly provided us with anything we needed. The atmosphere was fun yet relaxing, and we never felt crowded. Food was wonderful. We had the burger and the pork chop entree, both great. The carrots and corn appetizer was exceptional but everything was good. The desserts were not quite up to the level of the other dishes.
Don’t miss the duck egg carbonara! Food was great so was the service. Know it’s “family style” but portions could have been a little bigger. Just two of us ordered 6 items with the portion size smaller than expected could have had 8. But we know that for next time!
The food was exquisite! Ambience fantastic. Beautiful decor, lovely music, knowledgeable staff. Bartenders were fantastic. Everything is expertly crafted and followed through to the finish. Would love to dine here again.
Kristen and her team have put together a gorgeous restaurant space, and the staff are all very friendly and helpful. We had the burrata appetizer, which was delicious, however we were lead astray by previous reviews and ordered the burger which turned out to be greasy and low on that signature flavor we were expecting.
That being said I would return for cocktails and appetizers any day!
Bran was a great server and we were tended to all night
Staff was friendly, but busy. Bartender was super friendly. Halibut was dry and “fishy” smelling, questionable freshness. Had to send the Halibut back. Very loud, but good atmosphere.
Great setting and views but the food was semi underwhelming. Some of the dishes were top notch but a majority of them were ok.
We have been wanting to try out this restaurant for some time due to being fans of TC. We were not disappointed. Food was wonderful, ambience vibrant, and the service we received was top notch. The restuarant was even celebrating their 3rd year anniversary with champagne for all. We will certainly be back!
As big fans of Kristin, we were disappointed by the meal. We were encouraged to order much more food than necessary and felt pressured to order even more. Fried dumplings were basically mozzarella sticks (balls) and lacked texture. For a high end restaurant, we were surprised to hear that they have a "silverware shortage" and also felt a bit rushed by closing time. I'd recommend others shy away or expect a very expensive meal and only order 1 item per section unless you're big eaters!
My halibut was incredibly dry. It was supposed to be poached and melt in your mouth but was dry and had no flavor. Very disappointed. They gave us a sauce for us to share but even with that still dry and tasteless. Courses were confusing.
Grain should accompany the protein instead we sat there for 5 minutes wondering where was the rest of the food.
Overpriced and not worth the money. I was expecting a beautiful fine dining experience it is not that. Really uninspiring. It was my birthday dinner and I wanted to treat my family but so incredibly disappointed.
The restaurant said it’s always book, but there were many empty tables. They have dumplings in the menu under protein and pasta, but I will recommend to be as an appetizer it was literally cheese fried balls. “The best plate in the house” is the ribeye but we prefer having stake at an stake house, so we went for what they recommended. Drinks were very accurate and fresh. If ever come back I will have the Texas Tomato Salad with a protein.
Great ambiance, food was delicious, and service excellent!
Whether you are staying in the hotel or just out for an evening in Austin highly recommend !
Thank you for your 5-star review, MaryE! We are happy to hear you enjoyed the food, service, and ambience during your time with us. We look forward to welcoming you back!
I had a very poor experience at Arlo Gray. We had a reservation for 9:30 and were on time and seated promptly. We ordered drinks and some appetizers and were pleased. Around 10pm the server comes over to say the kitchen was closing and we needed to place our order. Prior to this, there was no communication regarding the kitchen closing but we put in our order right away. About 5 minutes later the manager comes over to say the kitchen had actually closed and can’t make our order. We were shocked as we had only been there 30 minutes never once was that mentioned. The manager offered to buy us a round of drinks for the inconvenience but were we still shocked. I went to talk to the manager again to explain our frustration and she finally at this point says she’ll see if the kitchen can reopen for us. She comes back over to say they will but will need to restart all of their grills so food will “take a while.” At this point, we decided we would just cut our loses and move on. The whole experience was extremely disappointing. The manager did bring us dessert and take care of our bill which was appreciated but we left hungry and were unable to have a birthday dinner for our friend.
If you are going to advertise and take reservations for 9:30, it should be very clear the kitchen is going to close at 10 to avoid this situation in the future. Or perhaps not take reservations that close to closing.
Everything was amazing. The pork chop was excellent. You have to try the lime sorbet for dessert, make sure you save room
Was our first visit to Arlo Grey the food was very good. Appears they are understaffed based on the time to get a drink. The wine by the glass list could use some help. A bit noisy to try and have much of a conversation. We'll return.
The food as expected was phenomenal, most of the dishes exceeded our ridiculously high bar. Spencer our server did a great job of making timely recommendations and service was seamless and perfectly timed. The olives with the Grilled sourdough were a perfect balance of acid, mild heat and umami. The crispy rice was an almost religious experience. My wife and I had 8, plates combined and while this allowed us to put a pretty good dent in the menu, next time (and there will be a next time) we hope to finish the menu off. 100% recommend Arlo Grey!
Thank you for your review, JeffO! We are so happy to hear that you and your wife enjoyed your meal and service from Spencer. We hope to see you soon to "finish the menu off!"
It was good but not great. Overpriced for what it was.
Service was fantastic, food delicious.
Thank you for your 5-star review, Sarah! We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your time with us. We cannot wait to welcome you back soon.
I surprised my girlfriend, who is a big Kristen Kish and Top Chef fan, with a birthday dinner at Arlo Grey. We absolutely loved our time from the moment we entered the restaurant. The hosts greeted us by wishing my girlfriend a happy birthday and our server brought over prosecco. The server was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and made ordering a breeze; the pacing of the meal was perfect and never felt rushed. Our server, and others who stopped by with drinks or to drop off food were all so nice and easy to talk to. The food was equally as wonderful as the service. Our favorites included the AG Grilled Sourdough Bread, the Texas Tomato Salad, the Mafaldini and the Mesquite Grilled TX Wagyu Ribeye... which yes essentially means the whole meal was our favorite. This was our first time dining at Arlo Grey, and we both left telling each other we wanted it to become a regular spot!
Delicous & innovative dishes. Favorites were Duck egg pasta, fried rice, tomato salad & of course, cocktails!
Absolutely fabulous. Can’t wait to go back. We trusted our fantastic waiter and tried some things we didn’t know about and EVERYTHING was delicious!!
Kristen Kish is an amazing chef. The food was creative and delicious.
Fantastic food and experience
Very overpriced for very basic and cheap ingredients and small portions. Very limited menu, and the automatic gratuity for a table of two i find is rude. It’s a shame because the location is beautiful and so it the fitout. Had to pay $20 for parking, should have been free with validation.
The best food I have ever had! Highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys good food.
Thank you for your 5-star review, Sophie! We are thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your meal. We hope to have you back again soon!
I loved how the food is served in sharable sizes. My wife and I enjoyed trying all the many different dishes
There was nothing special about anything I ate for such a highly celebrated chef. I spent $100 and would have been happier eating tacos from a food truck.
