Ariccia Italian Trattoria & Bar Ratings and Reviews
It was a very nice dining experience. The staff was prevalent at all moments of the night and was not annoying about it; it was a nice blend of concern and help. The food sounds a lot more strange than it tastes, so do not fret when looking at the menu. It is a nice peaceful experience and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a date night or business meal venue.
We were visiting Auburn University and the restaurant was in our hotel. The Sunday supper menu is quite a treat - a lot of choices and large portions. Everything was good - the cauliflower was outstanding. The waiter was accomodating as we had so many leftovers!
I shared a porter house, which was cooked perfectly. The fingerling potatoes and mix of beans both were times perfectly. The spinach was a bit soggy. The butternut squash soup was good but a bit too much spice masked the taste of the main ingredient... maybe instead of Parmesan cheese a spoon of sour cream to soften.
What a disappointing night out with six business colleagues... from over salted salmonto slow poor service to melted gelato the evening was a flop. What was even less impressive was the bolognese sauce. For a highly rated Italian restaurant to serve bland tasting mushy pasta and a lackluster San Marzano sauce was truly a downer. Will not go back.
I never can understand simply bad restaurants. It's just as much work to prepare and serve bad food as it is to serve good food. Same with service. I returned a badly corked glass of wine... the bartender held it up to the light and said she didn't see any cork in the glass. Really? The food is not even in the same universe as "Italian" and this is in no way a "Trattoria". Mediocre is the best I can say.
New menu was excellent. Our server was super knowledgeable and gave great recommendations to enhance our enjoyment of the food - like adding a bit of spice to offset the lemon in my crab linguini. We've frequented the bar on our many stays at the hotel. This was our first time eating in the restaurant but we'll definitely do it again!
We had a late Friday evening meal (9:30pm) and had neatly the entire restaurant to ourselves! The hostess was very nice and warmly received us although we were more so casually dressed (suggested attire was smart casual). Our waiter, Matthew, was very kind and took care of us - never made us feel like we were keeping him from going home. The chef made us a great starter, the risotto dish is delicious, and we were delighted with our pizza! Finished with chai tea and vanilla gelato- superb! Great first visit from out of town, would recommend.
I made this reservation not knowing it was in the Hotel Auburn where I'd stayed previously. Despite being in a hotel, it was great service and food. The town was crowded after a Camp War Eagle weekend so we were happy for the respite and parking availability even though we weren't staying there. War Eagle!
Enjoyed Ariccia!! Was here for Camp War Eagle and my daughter & I dined here for dinner first night.
The pasta was wonderful and the wine excellent! Most enjoyable was our waiter. He was so warm & friendly. An Auburn student, he chatted with us for a brief moment about the wonderful life here at UA. My daughter is excited about attending school here this fall.
The hotel & restaurant is right across the street--and I would highly recommend it for anyone coming here in the future!
Our meals received mixed reviews. I had the shrimp scampi which was delicious. My husband had the mushroom ravioli which he didn't like - too many mushrooms! in the ravioli, all over the ravioli and not enough sauce. My son wanted the porkchops but they were out so he had the steak - he said it was OK (he had steak the night before which was outstanding.) Our daughter had polenta and was very happy. Our waiter was a little inexperienced - but we worked that out with the manager at the end (a billing issue). Overall we enjoyed it and would go back.
Had reservations for graduation celebration. Turned out to be a brunch on Sunday - open table doesn't tell you that when you book. It turned out to be very nice. Food was actually very good and there was a huge selection. Only complaint was the two young girls that worked at bar were short and basically acted like they didn't want to be bothered Otherwise good experience.
