Ariana Ratings and Reviews
This was our first visit and it was everything we hoped (and read about!). Lovely, cozy atmosphere-- amazing food and drinks (White Cosmo! Short ribs!! Ice cream/gelato trio!!!) and attentive service. It is not super quiet as it is a small space, but I enjoyed all the people around us also having a great time. Look forward to going back.
Overall the food was very good. Loved the calamari. Scallops were divine, though risotto served with them was way too salty for my taste. Also way too much salt in the otherwise delicious cauliflower bisque. Butterscotch pudding dessert was yummy though would have benefited from some textural variation/some crunch. Too noisy for conversation, unfortunately, which will affect our decision on whether to go back.
Family vacation in Bend and wanted to dine at Ariana as vacation destination for the family. Service was outstanding and the wine recommendations spot on. Food was really, really good with one minor exception. The cauliflower soup was too salty (easily could taste the excess salt beyond the the falvor jump that could be provided). Same for the braised rabbit--salty beyond what was necessary to enhance flavor without tasting the salt.
Shared this with our waiter with a request to note this to the chef. Never heard anything back from the kitchen, the waiter, or the manager.
Nevertheless, great evening of dining with a little let down from the hype and experience expected.
The food and ambiance at Ariana were both wonderful. My complaint, however, is around the service and demeanor of our waiter. Upon arriving, within a minute or so the waiter asked if we knew what we wanted to drink. We had literally just sat down and hadn’t even opened the menu. He came back to take our drink order and at that time asked if we were ready with our food order. Please note that only a few minutes had passed and again we had not even looked at the menu yet. We advised him we needed more time. He came back a few minutes later, we were ready with our appetizer order. He advised we needed to have our whole order ready (we did not know this). I expressed we were unaware and that we would just need a minute to complete our order. Instead of going away, he asked if he could ‘just help us decide’. I found it very odd and rude that he was being so pushy to get us to order when we barely had time to look over the menu. For such an ‘upscale’ place, I expected more class and politeness. He continued to be curt, unfriendly, and pushy throughout the whole dinner. We had ordered drinks, apppetizers, main courses, as well as dessert and after dinner drinks. Not even halfway through my after dinner drinks and dessert, I ask for some water and the waiter says he cannot get that for me and that we need to go. Did not even have time to finish drink.
We made a special trip from Portland to Bend to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary as well as my 50th. Birthday (we were there for our Anniversary three years prior and had been wanting to return as we used to live in Bend and were married there 17 years ago). We chose the Chef's Choice Meal with the wine pairing which was excellent. We felt as if the courses were a bit rushed and our plates were taken away a few times too soon when we were still working on our food and wine. On our prior visit, we were brought out a special dessert that said "Happy Anniversary" on the plate as well as candles, which was a very nice touch. This time, nothing (never any recognition even though I had included it when making the reservation). It's very rare that we get a night out (and why we were celebrating a "big" birthday and an anniversary in the same evening), so we were hoping for a relaxing, special, slow-paced evening together, but instead it felt like we had to keep pace with the waitstaff so they could turn the table.
We were there for both there on our birthdays which was mentioned when our server asked. The risotto was extremely watery versus thick and rich (served with scallops) The sole was simple fried and served with regular broccoli, nothing special. Our soup was actually wonderful. The table next to us was offered dessert complimentary for their anniversary. Nothing mentioned to us. Won't be back. Usually we give 3 tries before we give three strikes your out.
Excellent from start to finish. The waiter was amazing and knowledgeable and the food and presentation top notch. What a treat to have this kind of place (and chefs) in Bend.
It was our 14th anniversary so it was special. It was also literally freezing outside and snowing. We were close to the door and we did get cold every time it was opened. Maybe put a curtain by it??
We went to Ariana's for our anniversary. We were welcomed. The hostess helped us with our coats and seated us immediately. Our waitress was attentive and pleasant. My wife ordered to oyster appetizer which was lovely serves on a bed of stones. Some were raw and some lightly broiled - very tasty! I ordered the beet salad-red and gold beets perfectly done and the presentation was outstanding. I almost felt it was too pretty to eat-delicious. My wife ordered the sea scallops which were done perfectly and were served on a bed of dungeness crab risotto. I ordered the rabbit which was very tender and served with sun chokes and prunes with fresh parsley garnish. I would order this again. The wine selection was great. We shared the Italian Pudding for dessert -butterscotch with carmel and sea salt. Wow! It came on a plate with "Happy Anniversary" written in chocolate . Ariana's is our go to place for special occasions.
Perfect evening. I believe the best table in the joint (table 8). Exceptional greeting, ultra competent and friendly waitress: knowledgeable about wine. I followed her recommendation and did not regret it. She ups old without being obvious about it. Splendid cuisine, although I would personally be sparser with the salt on the marrow bones. Excellent desserts.
We ate at Ariana to celebrate a significant birthday while staying in Bend, Oregon. Arrived for our reservation about 15 minutes early and were seated immediately. Wine list was extensive, offering a wide variety suitable to any meal and taste. Menu was interesting and took awhile to consider. Our waiter was very helpful, including a suggestion to split a soup course, which turned out to be excellent. Our salads and entrees were very well prepared and nicely seasoned. Restaurant included a dessert us to share at no charge to recognize my wife's birthday. The dessert was excellent. Overall this was a lovely dining experience.
