Patroon was a delightful experience. The service was flawless!!
It was very expensive but a real treat.
Great place for lunch or a business lunch. Food is very good and always reliable. Service is outstanding.
I continue to return to Patroon. A consistent, winning place, in this writer's humble view. There are times at lunch when energy seems to overtake the brick-walled room, but this visit was very quiet, in a cool sexy way.
Cuisine has been thoroughly enjoyable, and I might even venture from fish to meats the next time round.
If you find yourself in the 40's mid or east, Patroon is steps from GCT. Highly recommended.
I have eaten here several times, and its great for business dinners as it isnt too loud. They honored my request for a round table, which I made at time of booking which I really appreciated. Food is always top notch. They have some nice private rooms too.
Excellent service with a sense of humor. Food was fantastic. Atmosphere excellent.
Great food - the short rib and the steak were very good. For a Friday night, the restaurant was very quiet. It would have been terrific if I was there with my wife, but with 4 men sitting at a table, it would have been a better experience if the restaurant was crowded. Overall, it was very good though.
As soon as you enter Patroon you feel like a special guest as the smiling host takes your name. I had made a special request for the Chef's table through OpenTable, which was honored to my delight. The service was perfect, getting us a cocktail quickly (and being on hand if we needed another) and then letting us relax and talk until much later when were picking up our menus to discuss dinner.
Food was excellent (I had the lamb chops) and memory of the night one of overall satisfaction.
We sent a very expensive steak back. Tough and tasteless. It was replaced by mediocre soft shell crabs. Greasy in too much butter. The desserts were tasy but that's about it. So many better options.
We had the most amazing time on Friday night. Our waiter Jim was delightful. THANK YOU ALL AT PATROONS!
Not my first time. Summer lunch is great because it is so much less frenetic lunchtime. Overall traditional tasteful, clean atmosphere, good lighting, discreet decor. Service is good, but a little hard to find waiter at critical moments.
My G&T was all tonic. When I sent it back after my date tasted and confirmed, it came back straight hooch. Maybe they should taste and gauge, before overreacting?
Starters: oysters and gazpacho. Both excellent.
Mains: Cod--excellent. Dover Sole Meuniere: Outstanding, however I should have asked the "MP": $59. Oofah. Dessert: Warm choco cake. Excellent.
Overall, highly recommended.
35% overpriced -- drinks, wines, food. With so many wonderful restaurants opening offering better value, no wonder Patroon was half empty on a week night.
We went as part of Restaurant Week so were on Prix Fixe menu. We did look at the regular menu & thought Patroon a very good spot for business lunch or for a quiet dinner. Unfortunately the roof was closed for a private party so we were unable to enjoy the outdoor atmosphere.
food was good but the time it took to get that food was ridiculous. I seriously could have made it myself faster
Great food and great service the terrace in the top of the building is a fun place to be in the summer
I had a very nice meal at Patroon. The food was excellent and service top of the range. I would definitely go back, especially for a work lunch. The a/c worked perhaps even a bit too well as I was slightly chilly sitting with short sleeves. At the same time, it was probably adjusted to the guys is suits, who were in the majority. Drinks were on the expensive side but it did not dampen my mood. The food and service were that good.
Pretty much a blah meal - not at all memorable.
Excellent food and service. Entire staff was friendly, helpful and attentive. Only quibble is the rather significant noise level.
Love the ambiance of Patroon's rooftop. Really no place like it in the area. Met a good fiend for lunch. We went on an "off" hour so wasn't too busy and we sat at the bar so service was good. However, drinks VERY expensice (I live in NY so the price of drinks do not surprise me at all but for 2 glasses of Prosecco could have gotten a decent bottle of something--anything!) Also, I ended up ordering a salad from the appetizers but did not realize it. So when my meal came I of ocurse commented on the size. The server immediately took it back saying she would get me the "entree' size and I was happy. Unbeknownst to me, she was told to charge me for TWO appetizers for what I then received as the "entree" portion. Not a nice way to do business.
Great find in our opinion. Amazing collection of photographs make this a different restaurant to eat in. Food was excellent, we both had the BarBQ Mahi Mahi and it was delicious. Staff attentive and friendly, happy to talk about the history of the restaurant. Excellent place just above Grand Central.
We went to enjoy the Restaurant Week menu. Unfortulately there were only two entrees to choose from. Two of us had the BBQ Mahi Mahi and it was delicious. The other choice was the skirt steak and it was disappointing. I got to taste it and it was not worth finishing. Other items we ordered which were not on the special menu were superior...hamburger and steak tartare. Clearly we missed more great entrees, but we were trying for a Restaurant Week experience.
been here many times, great food wonderful service
We went to celebrate our 35th anniversary with two of our children and a friend on a Monday night. The service was excellent. There could have been a bit more variety on the menu, but everyone enjoyed what they ate - Caesar salads (which were delicious - the dressing was perfect), chicken, seafood, and a mango/lobster salad as an entree. The portions were manageable and no one pushed away from the table feeling overstuffed. Beer and wine choice was quite good as well.
The restaurant is located conveniently close to Grand Central Station, a plus for commuters who want a delicious meal but not a late night ride home.
It didn't seem like this was a place where many young people preferred to dine.
I have been a frequent lunch diner for a few years. Good food and not too expensive. Also it is possible to carry on a conversation which is difficult in many restaurants. Their photography collection is very special and worth a visit just to see it.
Good mid-town eatery, decent food, quick service and a calm, almost club-like atmosphere.
business crowd for sure and an after work atmosphere but no excuse for rushed service. waiter was extremely impatient and didn't make any suggestions. didn't want to be accommodating and clearly wanted to get us in and out. when he came by our table to take our orders he didn't stay long and rushed off before we could ask questions.very disappointed in service but food made up for it...food was really excellent - fabulous octopus, oysters, profiteroles, good seafood dishesgreat patio upstairs that I will come back for...
I am never disappointed in patroon: food, service, ambiance--all impeccable. (the creative, beautifully prepared food is always a surprise to people who are expecting a run-of-the-mill steakhouse.) service is all one cd wish for. try the roof for a REAL NY experience....
Nice service and food.
The food was delicious, cooked perfectly as ordered. I ordered a glass of wine and a new bottle was corked in front of me for my single glass. Prices fine for the quality of the food. I will definitely go back again. Staff and Management were very professional and friendly (not snooty) and attentive but not overbearing.
The lunch itself was fine. But I was not happy with my experience with reservation agent who followed up on the reservation made through OpenTable.
This was a small gathering to celebrate my daughter's graduation. She picked the restaurant. I couldn't have been happier with her choice. The food was excellent. Service was discreet and professional. Staff were not constantly pestering, but were there when needed. The atmosphere was relaxed and the lobster was exquisite.
Excellent experience. I find the staff at Patroon totally professional; nice without being intrusive. Lovely food.
the food here just seems to get better and better, and there is nothing like being in a beautiful place in which one always feels more than welcome. (ken aretsky, the host, is responsible for the general gemutlichkeit, and manages his dining room(s) withthe smae care and attention he would pay were he hosting in his home.)
a busy, hi-powered lunch scene; much quieter at dinner...but the bar scene on the roof (in the warmer weather) cannot be beat for a great new york experience.
Excellent choice, special attention to detail - superb chef.
Very nice spot for lunch. Good lunch menu. Very good food and excellent service.
Wonderful atmosphere and wonderful food and service. The only points for improvement: serve hot coffee (coffee to our entire table was cold), don't rush patrons (even during power lunch time), the busboys are a bit too eager to clear your plate when you are not finished and when the others at your table are not finished. That's to be expected at the local diner...). Otherwise, a wonderful experience and delightful meal.
Professional service, good food, great atmosphere. Great for business lunch.
This is our favorite restaurant in NYC; food and service is superb!
I only get to New York a few times a year these days, but Patroon never fails in reminding me how enjoyable New York business lunches can be. Great service, awesome food and a relaxed-enough atmosphere that lets you take care of business without being rushed. Patroon is the gold-standard for a classic, New York business lunch.
The food was "good" ; really wanted to give a higher rating but all of our steaks (medwell to well vs medium requested)/rack of lamb (med-well vs rare requested) were overcooked. Shame on the chef(s). The kitchen did fix the lamb post haste and the service and ambiance made up for the gaffe. The wine we requested was out of stock but sommelier recommended a replacement and was quite right.
