Aretsky's Patroon Ratings and Reviews
Very good food & service. A NYC hotspot used as locale in many Stuart Woods novels. Noise level almost unbearable & place is usually packed, with many large tables of business groups, probably using expense accounts. But it is kind of fun & a definite NY experience. Not the place for a quiet, intimate dinner though. Some say it’s the successor to the legendary Elaine’s.
Another fabulous evening at Patroon. From the moment you walk through the door you feel at home. Gracious, charming people are at your beck and call. The room is charming and lined with Ken's collection of world class photographs. While the room is always busy you can still have a conversation. Evenings in particular are very special. And the food... beyond divine in a modern yet classic manner. Honestly, we feel this is one of the best places in Manhattan. Hence we consider Patroon our "favorite." ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND IT. Although... I sort of like having it be my secret hideaway. So please... this is just between us OK?!
What a great choice for this business dinner. Service is absolutely top-notch from the moment you walk in the door. The tables are a little tightly spaced but the speed and courtesy at which they replace the knife you knock on the floor is impressive. Tableside Caesar salad service was outstanding and produced one of the most incredible Caesar salads ever. The wild mushrooms (blue cheese grits) were wonderful. The crispy roast duck got high marks and the veal chop (special) was unbelievable. Very accomplished wine list and good selections across various price points and budgets.
i had been to Aretsky's before for drinks on their "rooftop" - which is so cute btw! i came back here recently for a lunch with my boss. the food was good and the noise level was perfect enough for us to discuss business without hearing other people's conversations. She hadn't been here before and had commented that she liked it . we were immediately greeted by our server and the maitre dee - then the best part was Mr. Aretsky came out to say hello! what an adorable man. it really says a lot about the place that he stills comes out to say hello to his customers. i will be back here over and over again - wonderful!
I took my husband to this restaurant to celebrate his 50th birthday. It was perfect. The food was delicious (we started with the grilled cheese small plate, crab cakes, and Bibb salad. I had the black cod for my entree and my husband had the roasted chicken). The service was impeccable. We ordered the gelato for dessert and they brought out a wonderful complimentary plate of small desserts to share and a glass of prosecco for each of us. A live bass and guitar played wonderful dinner music throughout the evening. Highly recommend. Wonderful dining experience.
This place treats everyone like a regular. We felt important and sincerely well attended and cared for even though they don't know us at all (we are here about once a year, either for our anniversary or my wife's birthday, so we're unknowns) - yet each time, we've had this experience, and always a nice table. The atmosphere is warm, stylish, old-school Manhattan and the food is first rate - gourmet yet accessible and unpretentious. We love it at any price and yet it's a very good value for its level.
From the moment you walk in to meet the hosts until the moment we walked out, service was impeccable -- the team there didn't miss a beat. It was a little dizzying just how good they were at meeting our needs without our needing to ask and being present at all of the right moments. The food was delicious and the photographs were a great compliment. Would definitely love to return.
I really liked Patroon. The ambiance is perfect. Warm colors, welcoming set up, enough distance between tables. It reminds me of what NYC was probably like back in the 40s. We were seated promptly and given our menus and told the specials in a timely manner. Our initial drink order was a little slow in being filled but the manager visited our table just to check on things and he took care of it for us. The food was delicious. I went out of my comfort zone and ordered the grilled pork chop and my friend went with the halibut . Both were superb. I highly recommend Patroon.
One of Manhattan's best restaurants, as simple as that. Excellent new American food in a sublime room with a brilliantly curated collection of photographs lining the walls.
Food, wine and service are all of the highest quality, without ever falling into the preciousness of 'haute' dining.
The roof garden is cool, nestled in a cityscape that has the feeling of a 21st century film set.
Food was delicious service great and although there was a band noice level was ok you could have a conversation. Drinks were creative and our waiter made all the correct wine recommendation. Would recommend for nearly any kind of celebration or just hanging out with friends.
Ken Aretsky has been managing restaurants for a long time with a lot of success. At Patroon he has perfectly merged outstanding food with impeccable service. It's rare to find a restaurant that keeps getting better year after year. You can't go wrong dining downstairs or on the rooftop.
We visited Aretsky's Patroon to celebrate my daughter's move to the city and to take advantage of Restaurant Week. What a cool, elegant place!
Our food was beautiful and very tasty, service was impeccable and we were never rushed, enjoying coffee for 15-20 minutes at the end of our meal!
Definitely highly recommend!
My husband and I had a lovely dinner at Aretsky's Patroon on July 28th.
It was NYC Restaurant Week Summer 2017.
Fixed 3-courses Dinner menue was $42 per person.
Beautiful service, gorgeous interior, and nice quiet atmosphere.
Grilled calamari appetizer and pan seared Sea Bass were fantastic! Plum sorbet and delicious Pana Cotta dessert with sour cherries were so good!! Really liked it!
We also went upstairs to have couple of drinks at their Rooftop Bar - great for summer time.
A very good place to eat. The atmosphere was great even though the place was relatively crowded. Service was excellent. I went during restaurant week and the menu items was from the regular menu not a special separate menu. The food was very good. Highly recommended
upon entering, we were greeted warmly and graciously by the hostesses. That welcome was continued in the bar and at our table. The service was attentive and outstanding, and Stephen was particularly entertaining. The food presentation was simply exquisite and the flavors were robust. We are from a top tourist destination where great restaurants reign, and this experience ranks as one of the best we've had in NYC. Will definitely return!
Food was good and overall atmosphere was nice, however, they have some very bad tables (one of which I was given) and would not move me to a better location even after several requests. This left me in an awkward position for an important business meeting (do I accept a bad table or leave the restaurant and try to find another place last minute?). I ended up staying (really had no choice), but will not go back there for that reason.
