Our waiter Jim was both attentive and friendly, always is!
And Stefan, how many more accolades can we pile on him?
I spent the dinner hour at Aretskys with friends. Its very cozy inside, and musicians played softly. Our meal was delicious and the waitstaff were attentive. We went for the special pricing during NYC Restaurant Week, however I will return again since it was a lovely meal at a very nice restaurant.
It was lovely
Really nice night, service was good , fell off a little as it was closer to 8. Food was great . Tables are a little tight so it is not for an intimate dinner. Overall , very good.
Great food. Wonderful for restaurant week with the wine pairing add on. Got very loud when it got busy but definitely a lot of people so made sense. Would be back but only for special occasion since it’s very expensive
I went there this week, and I thought they did NYC Restaurant Week, but they did not. I overpaid $32.00 for a very small salad with about 4 shrimp. Very, very, very overpriced. The waiter was very nice and gave me a few little marshmallow dessert of 1" and a 1" cream puff. I will not return since I think the place is way overrated.
What a great night, started off with fantastic cocktails in the bar and then into the dining room with live jazz. Our server who was funny friendly and lovely, then served us wonderful food with a stupendous wine pairing, what’s not too like! I can’t recommend the restaurant and staff highly enough and look forward to returning next time in NYC.
Very welcoming staff, even the owner himself came to greet us. Delicious food and very good service
Tried during Winter Restaurant Week 2019 and there was a nice selection of the 3 courses. Opted to try the table-side made caesar salad and it was the highlight of the meal. The filet entrees were ok but not what I would have expected from such a fine establishment. The creme brulee for dessert was soupy and not pleasant to look at at all. The tables are well spaced apart and seating is comfortable. A small bar with a few tables is located behind the dining area. The service was impeccable though and Mr. Aretsky even comes around to welcome diners and chat for a while. Friday night is jazz night and they have the same prix fixe menu as restaurant week.
A lovely evening with friends was made even more pleasant by the excellent service, the deliciously crafted items on the Restaurant Week that come with perfect wine pairings. The highlight was Mr. Aretsky stopping by his table to thank each of us for coming by. What a charming spot in Midtown!
It was good overall and food was pretty nice. I went to this place during restaurant weeks. I really liked Black Bass, but the dessert was too salty and too strong. So I barely had dessert.
We decided to try Aretsky's Patroon for Restaurant Week and were definitely not disappointed. There were 4 of us and everyone enjoyed their meals. The menu choices, service, ambiance were all excellent. We will definitely be back!
Incredible meal! One of my new favorites. Nothing more needs to be said. The bone marrow was one of the best I have had. The Oxtail Dumplings outstanding.
The restaurant had been highly recommended by a friend we trust and Restaurant Week seemed like a great opportunity to check it out for ourselves. We were greeted warmly by the owner as we settled in and the whole experience was marked by that same spirit of hospitality and generosity. The menu had a number of great-sounding choices that turned out to be as delicious as advertised. The service was attentive, and the “extras” — amuse bouche and an incredible pastry array (after amazing dessert!) — were a delightful surprise. We will definitely be back!
this was my second time there and I really enjoyed it. overall great experience. good buzz to the atmosphere but not too much noise. owner is charming gentleman who adds to the experience
Wonderful food and service! As a vegan, I still had Plenty of options. As about there unlisted Tofu Dish. . . It is phenomenal!
Went for restaurant week and really enjoyed the vibe and the food. Only downside was the desserts were not that great.
Dined here for restaurant week. Fabulous menu, amazing service, lovely relaxed atmosphere. Celebrated a birthday and it was perfect for that.
If you are in your 20s, do not go here. I wanted to love this place. My boyfriend and I are 26 and 25 respectively, and were easily 10-15 years younger than all the clientele. The staff immediately treated us differently, a lot less attentively than every table around us. We did the $42 Friday night prix fixe, maybe they decided that was enough reason to treat us poorly (which, if you’re going to treat customers poorly for picking it, why are you offering that menu at all?) here’s why it sucked:
Got the wine pairing, first pairing didn’t show up until we were almost done with our course... second pairing also came a solid 15/20min after food was put on the table. Food was lukewarm. French onion soup had literally collapsed before it was even brought to the table.
They absolutely look down on and do not take younger patrons seriously. Save your money and spend it at a beautiful Michelin Star spot that will treat you just as well as everyone else.
Another great Friday night at Aretsky's Patroon. Besides the food and the service, I also really like the 2 piece jazz combo that plays on Friday nights!
Always a first class experience. Great ambience, food and service.
Fantastic food service and ambiance. The owner/manager Ken Aretsky greeted guests at the table in a warm way to add icing to a superb evening. Massive upgrade in food service and welcome from my last visit several ears ago. Thoroughly recommended and I’ll be back more often!
Great bar, very knowledgeable bar staff. Very good wine list. Varied menu that is well executed.
First time there. Loved it! Met Jackie Mason and his wife who are regulars.
We were out for lunch with out of town friends and this was the perfect spot. The food is good, the place is vibrant but Suite at the same time and no one rushed us out. Added bonus— Mr Aretsky came over to say hello and we had a lovely conversation.
From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed and special. Our table was lovely and everyone who took care of us was professional, warm, and knowledgeable . We shared an appetizer and a salad to start. The kitchen took the extra time to plate each one individually for us, rather than giving us a communal plate. The bread was delightful. The wine suggestion was delicious. We had the veal chop and the sirloin for our mains. The sirloin won the day, although the veal chop was nice too. I haven't had this perfect a restaurant experience in ages. We will be back!!!!
Somelier was world class....but the rib eye was the best I have ever had. And I’ve had a lot......evening topped off my owner coming to say hello. My favorite traditional New York restaurant.
Love it food, service and great experience!
Mr. Aretsky came over to our table to introduce himself-nice touch! The table side freshly made Caesar salad, by Stefan, is also a nice touch. The Pomme Souffle is a must! The rooftop is probably a nice place to hang out when the weather is warmer.
A first class restaurant...From the moment you walk in until you leave.
One of the greatest things about NYC is that you will never find all the hidden gems. So glad I found this one. Aretsky’s is old school NY elegance akin to the Carlyle but in a more modern setting. Ken Aretsky even made an appearance stopping at every table to introduce himself. The staff is as pro as it gets. From hostess to maître d' to waitstaff we received outstanding service with attention to every detail AP’s world-class fare is expertly flavored and presented in their lovely dining room with side-room bar, a second level for private dining and a lively rooftop bar that is covered and heated brimming with after-work professionals and millennials. Albeit pricey for everyday dining, I can’t wait to visit again and again and again...
Always top notch food, service and ambiance!
Ken Aretsky always so gracious and welcoming. Stephan and Jody, can't beat that team!
Food wasnt good at all. Lamb wasnt cooked good and meat tasted like like an old frozen lamb meat.onion soup tasted more like a water. Also they served food after 50 min which is pretty long time to wait. But service was good, waiters are very attentive nice and polite.
But def not the place where i would like to go back
Truly exceptional meal. Ambiance is wonderful, live music on Friday and great pre fix meal. Quality of dishes exceptional, service was great and no corkage fee on Friday night.
This is a hidden gem in New York City.
This place never fails to please. Top notch food, well prepared and presented. Very professional staff. Minded not to write a review in case it gets too popular! 4th time here.
Excellent in every regard, in the style of the very best NYC steak and American fare restaurants.
We love Stephane! A NYC fixture!
Great food, nice place. A little loud and definitely caters to the midtown business crowd
Food prepared very well. Duck week done and tasty. Cod a little bland, halibut well done and tasty.
Appetizers, casino calamari truly wonderful, shrimp flavorful. Red wine wonderful.
Server very animated. Caesar salad very original fresh and table side creation wonderful
