Arepa sandwiches are sold in rural and urban environments alike. Twenty four hour restaurants, in cities like Caracas, make it the ‘queen dish’ on street food.
Arepa Café brought the corn meal sandwich to Urban Toronto – established since 2009 on Queen St. West. The experience has been one of honesty and integrity contributing to the Canadian market and becoming a Venezuelan restaurant selling arepas in DT Toronto.
Top notch service!!
Thanks to the whole team, for a great meal!
Service was good, servers were pleasant and quick, liked the ambiance, good location, restaurant was clean prices were reasonable. However, disappointingly both my husband and I found the food very bland. Ordered the vegetarian arepa with black beans, plantains and avocado and found the entire thing very bland. The plantains were not ripe or (sweet enough) hardly tasted them in the arepa. My husband ordered the Grilled Chicken arepa and also found it too lacked flavor. The only way to bring some flavor to our meals was to load it up with lots of the sauces on the side.
It was the perfect place to enjoy a wonderful visit with Venezuelan friends and introduce the food to a Jordanian friend. Everyone was delighted.
Nice staff but it was hard to get our order in as new patrons showed up.
This was my first visit to Arepa Cafe and my first time having an arepa. My mouth was watering from the moment I sat down. Every dish that passed by me was very fragrant. I ordered the sweet plantain and the cazon arepa. The plantain was perfect. The arepa was a little too salty for my liking, but I stilled enjoyed it. A really nice addition to the meal were the sauces provided on the side. The sweet green sauce went well with everything. I really liked my experience here and I plan on coming back to try other arepas.
Third time I’ve eaten here. Food is always tasty. And service is first rate and friendly.
Very tasty food. Only had a slight idea of what arepas were before coming here but the waitress was friendly and helpful in explaining the menu.
We were a large-ish group - 6 people - and I think we got the only big enough table in the place! Group included 3 vegetarians, and I think everyone was easily able to find something they enjoyed.
The server was friendly and helpful; there was an issue splitting the bill (an item ended up on the wrong receipt), but it was quickly and efficiently corrected. The server also made sure we knew gratuity was included, which is always appreciated.
Creative menu, timely service. Really enjoyed the carne macheda (sp) and the watermelon & tomato gazpacho.
It was great. I really enjoyed the food and atmosphere.
The areas (sandwiches) were fabulous. We went with all the suggestions made by our server Andreas. He clicked on very quickly with what dishes we might be interested in. Other diners seemed to enjoying many different cocktails made by the bartender Pedro.
Excellent service great staff! The food is delicious as real Venezuelan food! The best are the tequeños (cheese fingers), La catira arepa (chicken, cheese and tomato) with plantain or avocado is one of my favourite and Pabellón arepa with avocado! For the desserts Tres Leches and Alfajores!!! And please don’t forget try the cocktails
