We believe that it is important to know where our food comes from, to be comfortable knowing that we can trust what we cook, serve and eat. We also believe that our children should have the opportunity to enjoy these foods for generations to come while learning the importance of preserving local farms, ranches and fishing grounds.
Without the contributions of producers who are as passionate about what they do as we are about what we do, we would be a much inferior restaurant. In a show of support, appreciation and awe, we proudly present some of the farms, ranches, seafood purveyors and artisanal producers who everyday help make us a better restaurant group.
Always consistent. We like going there as a group.
Food was mediocre, went looking forward to the waffles that are listed on the website but was disappointed to find out that they are no longer served. Waiter was always distracted, had to prompt him for water, orders, cheques, etc.
Service was absolutely terrible. Had a party of 11 for my birthday, and I literally had to track someone down every time we needed something (to get menus, to order food, to order drinks multiple times, to get water, to ask for the food we ordered that we didn’t receive, to get our check, to pay our check), and then our order came out wrong. The waiter said he’d remove items from the bill, which he then didn’t do- multiple times. Worst service I’ve ever received.
Figured pizza would take awhile so ordered appetizers. The fried cheese came quickly. The garlic breadsticks took an hour. Pizza even longer.
They do a big takeout business and it looked like that took priority
Breadsticks and pizza were really good when they finally came -back to back- but it could have been that we were just starving at that point.
We made a reservation for 7:15pm but the hostess admitted that she messed up and gave our table away to someone else. We told her we would get a drink at the bar. After 30 minutes we checked in with her and she had forgotten about us. We were finally seated at 8:00pm and placed our food order immediately (starving at this point). - just 2 pizzas and a salad. The salad came out at 8:45 and just one pizza at 9:00pm. Our guest had eaten his entire pizza by the time the other one arrived. It was a challenge to get the bill to leave and we were grabbing ubers at 10:15pm. We didn't eat until 1hr 30min after our reservation time and we were leaving 3 hours after our reservation time.
Horrible experience, service was awful and slow and food orders were messed up. My husband and I were delivered our food and at the same time our food was delivered the manager came up to share to that other couple I was with that they didn't have ingredients for their omelette. I understand this happens but I do not get the timing or logic behind delivering half the parties food and then at the same time telling the other two people were dining with they don't have what is needed to make what was ordered. Will never go back.
Always consistent with their brunches. Would recommend to others.
Too noisy. They kept cranking the music, even though there were only a handful of tables full. I get wanting to have a fun vibe, but it was ridiculous. The waitstaff wanted to dance to Michael Jackson. I know: you're bored, it's boring when it's not busy, but still. I asked several times, and they did turn it down, but then they turned it back up again. On an early Saturday evening, try to be thoughtful to your patrons.
But the pizza is truly outstanding.
The food was delicious, the service was great, and the atmosphere was welcoming. We very much enjoyed our dinner here.
Fantastic pizza and service!
Wouldn't recommend them for brunch; lacks in comparison to their Cambridge location. The best part about it all was the cinnamon roll we had to start. The rest was very average, and not very well seasoned or flavorful. They don't even offer any espresso drinks (i.e. cappuccino, latte, etc) which is unfortunate.
Our waiter I believe David amazing! Food was great too.
This was our second time and this time was a lot different than our first. I rarely ever leave poor reviews, but this one has to be mentioned. We were a group of 6 and were seated without delay. The host said they didn’t have enough menus and they would try to get us more (never happened, we got up and got our own). We proceeded to wait at least 10 mins for anyone to come and take a drink order. We had to ask for a waiter to come and see us. We couldn’t have been placed any more front and center of the restaurant. A party of 10 showed up as well and had their drinks before we even got asked. (Different waiter).
We ordered drinks that took a very long time to show up as well and put in for 3 apps. All decent, but nothing earth shattering. They do have a good beer list and the other funny thing was the bottle of wine showed up, but we had to unscrew the cap and pour glasses. Not the end of the world, but worth noting.
We ordered 3 pizzas. 2 of them were very good. The 3rd was supposed to be a regular pizza with mushroom and olives. Came out as a white pizza (no sauce). So we unfortunately sent it back and made mention it needed to be red sauce and cheese along with toppings. Next pizza came back without cheese and included the toppings. We ate it anyway and didn’t mention it.
We didn’t see a waiter or anyone to check in on us for some time. We ordered another couple beers, but literally took forever for anyone to help us. In the end got the check and cashed out. Here’s the last piece. Check comes with 20% gratuity included! No mention anywhere of parties of 6 or more will have gratuity added. No mentions period.
So the pizzas are quite good. Crusts are nice, toppings are plentiful and good choices. The feed probably 1-1.5 people per pizza. This was easily the worst service I’ve ever experienced in Boston over the years. Perfect take out pizza, but won’t be going back.
Ambience: restaurant was cold, feels like a teen hangout. Workers were all on cell phones or chatting with each other - to be fair, not a busy night. Felt like everyone was in their teens, no adults in the room.
Service: waitress was good, food runners clueless. Main course came out before appetizers.
Food: nothing special. pizzas had 2 inches of puffy crust around the edges, really thin crust that wasn't crispy, but overall flavors were ok.
Wouldn't hurry back.
Fun night of apps and flat breads; fried cheddar, broccoli, chix Bao bun and Brussels sprout salad for starters; fontina and mushroom pizza and Hawaiian pizza for dinner. Didn't love The Hawaiian, but that is probably more me. Delicious cocktails. My son ordered one that was too spicy to really enjoy and he loves and tolerates very hot and spicy food. Lucked out with on street parking! Great prices and a great value!
Super friendly staff. Great food and great to play shuffle board.
Loved the great food, but the service was abysmal! It was like our waitress didn't have any idea of what was going on. We had to ask several times for menus, the check, and to have our check corrected.
The soprasetta pizza is pretty awesome. I would definitely go back.
My 2 children and I planned to have dinner at Area 4 Boston prior to attending The Lion King at the Opera House. Upon arriving, we were seated. I then went to the ladies’ room. I entered the stall to the far right, closed the door and turned the latch to the right to secure the door. When I went to open the stall door, I couldn’t because the knob/pin could not be fully retracted by turning the latch to the left, as one would expect it to.
No one else was in or entered the bathroom, and I did not have my phone w/ me to call my daughter to come open the door for me.
I was therefore forced to crawl under the door on my stomach, in a dress and heels, my belly and hands, and nearly my face on the bathroom floor, to clear the door and get out.
I immediately informed the hostess about what happened, and made it clear I was not pleased, especially given I was there to eat, then attend a show and had to crawl over the likely not sanitary public bathroom floor. In addition, her only response was, “Oh, that’s too bad. Sorry. We’ll put a sign on the door.” I assumed she then went to let the manager know what had happened, and was very disappointed that no manager ever came to the table to offer an apology and some form of standard customer service/compensation for the very unpleasant experience I’d told the hostess about. But by the time the waiter (who never asked if I, too, would like a drink (kids ordered while I was stuck in bathroom) returned to run my card to pay (too long), we were in a hurry to leave to get to the show in time via bus. I called the next day to speak to a manager, as I was increasingly upset about the lack of response. He apologized, telling me how it should have been dealt with, but did not independently offer a conciliatory concrete gesture to encourage our return in the future until I suggested it, but by then, because I had to suggest it, I was even more disappointed, and so declined.
I am disappointed to say I wasn’t able to actually have any type of experience at area four, when I arrived with my party to our reservation last night, to our dismay , we were told that the head chef had chosen to close the kitchen, an hour before they are supposed to. So sadly we had gone there for no reason and had to find a restaurant close by last minute.
We had pizza which was really good. The service was a bit slow considering the restaurant was almost empty.
There was one person waiting on the entire restaurant. That person dropped the f'bomb very comfortably while conversing with my guests. He then proceeded to make us wait to order and we had to ask for water from the loud and gruff bartender. It appeared that the manager was off for tbe night and the staff was too.
The ambiance of this restaurant is amazing! The food is mostly specialty fire grilled pizza which happened to be delicious! The price is very reasonable as well! I would highly recommend this place!
Food is solid, but the service is horrible. We used to come all the time and loved it, but recently the service has declined as it took forever to get our drinks/menus/bill despite there not being anyone else in the place.
It also got bizarre when we realized the music was exclusively DJ Khalid songs, which sort of clashes with the place's 70's record store vibe. It got weirder when we noticed the manager drinking directly from a carafe of what looked like red wine between his turns in shuffleboard.
If you're looking for solid pizza and to be uncomfortable, then this is your place.
Service needs some work. Explains why it was so dead on a Saturday brunch at 12:30
Fun atmosphere, but bartender entirely unfriendly. It wasn't that busy but she seemed bothered to engage.
We went for Saturday Brunch and my sense is that Saturday Brunch was not a big priority for the restaurant. The food was good and came quickly. The service was poor despite the fact that there were more staff in the restaurant than there were customers.
I would try it again but not for Saturday Brunch.
The pizza is FABULOUS and the staff was very accommodating. Loved it!
Amazing time . I couldn’t believe the menus are record albums .. so different and fun ! Food was absolutely delicious !! I had the gourmet pizza, and I wanted more!! The staff was attentive and super friendly! I told my waiter we were there celebrating a birthday and he brought over desert. Just made the night very special . We will definitely be going back . Enjoyed every moment.
A gem in the South End. Amazing pizza but pay attention to vegetable side dishes. Omg. Delish.
This is a medium-hip place aimed at millennials. Casual but a tiny bit edgy. Food is quite good (clam and bacon pizza is a fave) but the service is quite variable.
The pizza crust was soggy and did not hold. The cheese easily separated and the sauce wasn’t anything to write home about. We also ordered the green salad the dressing and almonds were good but none of the ingredients looked fresh (avocado was browning, leaves were wilted, and radishes lacked crunch). They have an extensive beer menu and cocktails on tap. Would come back to order drinks and appetizers.
Staff members who greeted us were great. Personal and professional.
We sat at the bar and staff was knowledgeable and attentive. Good food and a fun evening.
Usually have a great experience here. First time in for brunch. Server wasn't very helpful... She Made it seem like I couldn't get a scrambled egg even though omelette is on the menu so it's clear that the kitchen knows for to scramble eggs.
And she never came around to refill coffee.
We are frequent diners at Area Four, but our last visit was a big disappointment. The service, as always, was friendly and attentive, but the food fell below par. Our pizza, the Florentine, was a puddle of too much garlic béchamel and under cooked egg whites that were off putting. The pizza was so soggy and unappealing. Our salad was overdressed, and although the combination of peaches, cheese and greens sounded delicious, the peaches were not quite sweet and tender enough to off set the very salty cheese that topped the salad. Oh well, there is always an off night, but we will take a little break but definitely return.
Cheddar bites are addicting.
Shrimp bao bun was out of this world good! Rec a try for sure.
Butterscotch cookie with Vanilla ice cream - can't go wrong.
We love Area Four and try to go often. Great service, great salads, great pizza, great atmosphere and great drink options. That is our experience.
We had the best servers and a fantastic time! They comped us skillet cookies for the birthdays we were celebrating and they were DELICIOUS.
Yummy food! Great service!
