Ardent Craft Ales began as a co-op in a Richmond garage, a space where we sought to create innovative beers and introduce others to historic brewing methods and beer styles. Ardent staff were fantastic and so quick with all of our orders. My beer tasting flight was fantastic. They answered my questions well when I called ahead to ask if they allow dogs and brought a fresh water bowl to out table, as soon as they saw my friend and her puppy arrive!

Delicious food and drink, but small portion sizes. Nice clean dining area, classy industrial decorations. Prompt seating, prompt service. HOWEVER - instead of serving you at the table, they make you use this ridiculous app that we could barely figure out, and it refused our purchase several times before it let us buy something. Made what should have been a nice meal a super inconvenient and awkward time where everyone was staring at their phones trying to figure out how to order. I won't be going again unless I'm with entirely people under 35 who have the internet as a second language. It's just too complicated to teach grandma and grandpa how to use a QR code and make an account on an ordering app without accidentally transferring their life savings to a Nigerian prince, and there wasn't another option. Oh also there were only 2 vegetarian options. Basically I really wanted to like it but it ended up being way, way more trouble than it was worth. We got a drink apiece (eventually) and then left and went somewhere else.

It was disappointing that when we got there, they closed the kitchen, when part of plans was to also have a meal. Otherwise, the beer and staff were wonderful.
