AMAZING! BEST place for Portland Dining Month. EXCELLENT food. Friendly and caring staff. 5/5 STARS!
Wonderful restaurant, with fabulous service and food to die for.
The chef’s menu is fantastic. The wine list is thoughtfully curated and pairs well with menu items. Service was caring and attentive.
Good food but portion size for the entree was more suitable for an appetizer. Not at all filling. Otherwise a good experience.
This is our second time dining at Arden and enjoyed our dining experience.
I had a special dining month 3 course meal. The first course was fantastic. Wonderful flavors and textures that I would never have thought would compliment each other. The Entree was excessively spicy. It totally destroyed my ability to appreciate the wine I had with that course. The waiter offered me a small glass of another wine to help clear the my flavors before the dessert course.
Amazing meal for Portland dining month! Will definitely be back!
Great meal and service! You can’t go wrong with any of the options on the menu.
We enjoyed all the options on the price fix menu, and look forward to returning to sample the regular menu. The service was very good.
Great food, even better service! Excellent wine list at appropriate price point.
We scraped our plates. That is the simplest way of saying how much we loved Arden, which we enjoyed for Portland Dining Month. I can't recall the names of all the dishes but we started with with Med Beets topped with crunchy ducca and on a bed of lebneh. The extraordinary spaghetti entre was loaded with pockets of flavor surprises from the sausage and shrimp - and the spice level pushed my limits in a good way without throwing me into the wrong orbit. Another pasta dish was essentially heavenly pillows of warm ricotta. There was a luscious olive oil orange cake for dessert. Just go there, enjoy the quiet, prompt service and garden feeling.
The best meal I’ve had in years. My wife and I eat out all over the country and this was by far one of the best tasting meals, with perfect portion sizes and knowledgeable staff. We’ll go back ASAP...probably next weekend :-)
prix fixe was great!!!
Delicious food and very accommodating for vegetarians
Perfectly prepared with amazing sauces and composition. We could not have been happier!
Wonderful and knowledgeable staff. We will be back!
On the evening that we dined - it turned out they had a fixed price menu, which wasn't announced as the only option for dining on their website. The menu did not have a vegetarian main option, and they didn't adequately accommodate an alternative for my wife. The server and the communication from the chef - made us feel "put upon" for a modification request - we were told that it was a set menu, and there's only a certain amount of ingredients in the kitchen. It was a $75 per person meal and the vegetarian alternative for one of the courses was iceberg lettuce with dressing and peanuts. Her main course was buttered noodles. I feel they should have been more accommodating or had this menu on their website so I could have made a request in advance.
I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Oh, and I've discovered that they've also over charged my card as well.
Our first visit to Arden was for Valentine's Day dinner. They served a Prix Fixe 4 course menu, and you could choose between 2 items for each course. We ordered one of each menu item, and added a foie gras appetizer as well. They brought each dish separately with 2 plates so we could share each dish, so our meal was more like 9 courses!
The Pros: Every dish was absolutely fantastic! We had difficulty deciding which dishes were our favorites, but the highlights included a Hamachi crudo, the Citrus Salad, Miso cured cod, and an Olive Oil cake with preserved lemons.
The service was very attentive and our waiter was very friendly. We didn't have any cocktails, but enjoyed a lovely bottle of wine from their thoughtfully curated wine list.
We left very full, looking forward to a return visit in the future.
The "Chef's Counter" is not really in front of the cooking area. We are foodies, and will always choose the option to sit at a chef's counter to observe their techniques, and interact with the chefs, if possible. We were seated about as far away from the chefs as we could get, but even the seats closest to the chefs weren't in a position for interaction. The seats at the counter were somewhat uncomfortable, as well.
It was very noisy, and it was difficult to hear the service staff. We were also right next to the front door, which made things even noisier, (not to mention, chilly) If it had not been such a busy night for the restaurant, we would have asked to be moved to a table in a quieter area.
The pacing of the courses was a little uneven. One course was served before we finish the previous one, and there were long waits between other courses. A very minor issue, especially on such a busy night. And of course, we had our lovely wine to occupy us!
We dined at Arden Valentines day, with amazing food, impeccable service and authentic ambiance. This evening we choose one of everything offered on the prefix menu and thoroughly enjoyed each course. Well balanced portions, bright, vibrant flavors, and consistently high quality across the ingredients. Beyond the food, the staff was top notch, host, bartenders, kitchen, expediters and wait staff reflect a high attention to detail, with every aspect of the meal executed perfectly, with warmth and welcome. One of the best overall meals we've had in Portland over the last decade. Well done and thank you!
Portland foodie destination, fantastic.
Lovely experience on all levels. The Chef is former long time sous from Le Pidgen. Cuisine was nuanced and showed a deft, tasteful and restrained hand. Seriously good food. Reasonably priced. Small eclectic menu. Can't wait to go back again.
Wonderful experience, delicious food, great place to be in friendship, sharing food.
Playful, creative flavor profiles from chef with personalized appetizer, entree and dessert topped with perfection. We celebrated our wedding anniversary with prompt seating, attentive waiter, meal placement, drinks and a surprise desert bite. We requested light small plates, intimate seating, along with a dietary restriction and all needs were met. Left with a feeling of well-fed weightlessness not overly heavy. The citrus salad was my favorite. Thank you for helping us celebrate!
Great, creative food! This a place that will become a new destination for us.
Our favorite restaurant in the neighborhood
Very tasty and delicious! Great service and wine selections.
First time there. Had Prix Fixe meal and it was so good and more than we could eat. We will definitely be back.
Really pleased to see Chef Erik Van Kley has landed at Arden. I’ll definitely be coming back next time I’m in Portland.
The food, wine and service were excellent. We ordered the Mary's chicken for two and it was cooked perfectly, the dish was creative and was very enjoyable. The selection of wine by the glass included wines at various price point including some more expensive but excellent selections.
Birthday dinner with my husband was amazing!
IT WAS A FIRST VISIT FOR DIANA & NEIL AND WE LOVED THE FOOD AND THE SERVVICE. LOOK FORWARD TO OUR NEXT VISIT. THAANKS. NEIL G.
Great! Service was outstanding, food was fresh, creative and delicious. Cocktails were good too!
Loved the steak tartar in lime leaf —it was amazing!! Only wish they offered more dishes without garlic. I can hardly choose anything. That which I can eat is lovely.
Creative Northwest cuisine, fresh ingredients, good wine list and excellent service ,
Too bad Michelin Star does not come to PDX, otherwise Arden should be up for a star
Wonderful meal for my birthday. My fave was the crab fried rice with house made spam! Outstanding! Sounds a bit odd, but wow was it good.
The rest of the table thought the best was the lamb, also absolutely amazing. Love this little place.
The food and drinks at Arden are outstanding. The combinations of ingredients with their flavors
and textures, delicious. We particularly enjoyed the black cod and the wagyu tartare.
Wonderful experience. We just celebrated our 10 year anniversary here. The prix fixe menu was wonderful and we loved talking the soux chef. Great atmosphere and relaxed setting.
Arden went above and beyond to create an amazing New Years experience! From the service, cocktails, and the food they really outdid themselves! Cheers!
New Years Eve dinner...
Fabulous!! If there was a 6 rating I’d give it!
