Archetype Ratings and Reviews
Servers seemed to really not know what they were doing. Was disappointed to have more of a brunch menu in the middle of the week. No options for shared apps aside from French fries and oysters. Something like deviled eggs would have been welcome. This was a business lunch. I️ rarely comment but when the service was this inadequate and the menu that hard to piece together for a lunch experience, I’ll be going elsewhere nextime
Our waitress appeared to be a little annoyed when we could not decide which wine to order. The lady who bus our table did not seem to be very friendly. Overall, I was not very impressed with the level of service. I mean there is nothing really wrong, but not a pleasant experience either.
I booked this restaurant based on TripAdvisor reviews. The restaurant is beautiful. The food was good and well presented, but not as great I had hoped based on reviews. I would probably give this restaurant another try, but there are so many other great restaurants in the area.
The food and atmosphere was wonderful. They need t work on their service. If you are going to charge the prices you do, I do not want to have to keep flagging down my server for more water or another drink. They also took fifteen minutes to come back to ask us for about dessert after the meal.
Love the atmosphere. Used to go to it every week. Seems they have had a change in management not as friendly as last manager. They need to do a better lunch menu! To limited don'5 need breakfast at noon.. only option to fill me was a hamburger that I had the day before for Linda somewhere else! Give better options for lunch!
You should think about spacing people out when seated and the opportunity exist. There is no need to immediately seat people right next to each other as you di with us. Allow the number of people to dictate when you fill in the spots. I'm talking about the two people tables just inside the door and you sat three different couples right on top of each for no reason.
Great find in St. Helena! The food is fantastic, creative, and well-presented. Now they just need to get control of their fly problem as well as better train their wait/bussing staff, and I can give them a full 5-star rating. At these prices I do not expect to 1) fight off flies to enjoy my meal or 2) be interrupted by a bus-boy as he reaches across my space to clear my neighbor's used dishes. This is but one example of the poor service you may have read about. Come on Archetype, let's get those flies dealt with and that wait staff better trained.
My brunch here was phenomenal. All of the food was fresh and delicious, and the portions of coffee were generous. I ordered the lemon ricotta pancakes with fresh berries and my partner got the corned beef short rib hash with poached eggs. 10/10 would go again!!
The food was mediocre. Had an heirloom tomato salad and it lacked flavor. The fried chicken and waffles were excellent. Good flavor and crunch texture. The charcuterie cheese dessert plate sucked! The cheeses were bland.
The service was okay. No one stopped by to tell us what cheeses they were serving.
The cocktails were delicious.
One woman was extremely rude to other customers by literally yelling in conversation and disrupting other costumers.
The restaurant staff did nothing. Some even laughed as if her behavior was appropriate.
I won't be recommending or going back.
Bright and airy, this beautifully designed restaurant offers a contemporary approach to classic dishes.
I'd highly recommend at least splitting the Half Stack Lemon ricotta Pancakes - they were to die for! Just melt in your mouth yum. Being from the South, I’m always a sucker for biscuits and gravy and their Cheddar Biscuits with sausage gravy did not disappoint. Those two together was the perfect combo of salty and sweet.
Breakfast tacos were bland. Price was expensive for as little as was on the Taco. Just plain eggs and some sauce for $8.50 each (entree was $17) not impressed at all. Service was slow, even though it wasn't busy. Took 30 minutes for drinks to be brought. Made reservation for a birthday and no acknowledgement was made..disappointed overall.
We have eaten here manay times, but must admmit we were surprised at the $25/bottle corkage fee. We live in St. Helena and have not experienced this charge anywhere else in town. It was a disappointment.
Our food was excellent but the service was slow even though the restaurant was not too busy.
We will be trying it again tomorrow for brunch and will see if we have the same impression after that.
We were very disappointed. The service was very poor. It took us forever to be served our cocktails/wine. We ordered sole and they deboned it at the table but left us to serve the fish to ourselves!!!!
My wife ordered a vodka tonic in a tall glass with two limes and they brought her a short glass with no limes!!
A lot of small miscues added up to a bad dinning experience!!!
We were staying at Meadowood and elected to eat at your restaurant expecting a wonderful dining experience!!!
While the food was good, the portions were the skimpiest I've ever seen! A bowl of soup was $13 and consisted of a huge bowl with literally 5 tablespoons of soup. The Halibut entree, while grilled perfectly, was honestly one-inch thick, one-inch wide, and just under four-inches long. Dinner for two was just under $200, and we left hungry. The service was marginal at best - we felt rushed and mostly neglected.
