ARC Restaurant - ARC The Hotel
We just went in for apps and drinks. Food was good but a little greasy and not that served warm, not hot. Ambiance was nice and service was fast and friendly. Nice fireplace that you could sit by.
Was great for a quiet buisness lunch.
Very nice food - I've had a number of dishes from here, with the elk ribs being a particular highlight. I'm fairly regular here, and will continue returning!
ARC The Hotel is a great place to stay in downtown Ottawa. Great rooms and service. Rates are reasonable. Food in the lounge is very good as is the service. We stay here whenever we visit Ottawa.
The Arc consistently serves excellent food, paired with excellent service.
This hotel resto is not much patronized but should be. Fine soups, good lunch mains, not overpriced. And you can talk without shouting!
Amazing cuisine up until dessert. Creative, tasty, fresh ! A real find !
A bit disappointed by the desserts : very heavy and funny tasting crème brûlée (daring lemon and almond) with mega hard crust of sugar. An ok chômeur pouding.
Espresso: not my kind.
Have to say, the food and ambiance were absolutely divine. While service was a little rushed, overall it was an excellent dining experience.
Chef Jason Duffy and his team are consistently creative - Ottawa is lucky to have such a talented chef. Our server on this night was very good but, being a regular customer, I wish that (former??) Arc Lounge server/bartender Amy, who was attentive but made customers feel relaxed, would return so the great food could be matched with great service.
The evening was top notch. I started with octopus in a BBQ sauce, couscous and pickled hot peppers. It was a good sized starter and the presentation was very well done. Both my wife and I had the Elk Ribs and found them delicious with just the right amount of wild game flavour. The waitress was able to suggest an Argentinian Malbec that suited the main course well. We finished with a cheese plate that had a nice variety of different flavours. Service was attentive without being overbearing. We will definitely be back.
Food was nicely presented, but catch of the day turned out to be essentially raw tuna, which I ate, but did not enjoy very much. There is too much emphasis on exotic cuisine rather than dressing up some of the basics. For comparison, the Grill 45 at the Lord Elgin Hotel has a much more appealing menu.
ARC-The Hotel a wonderful find
Wonderful food, excellent knowledgeable service.
The wine list ran around $65 per bottle. We found one for $35 that lacked body. My friend ordered tuna appetizer followed by duck. The tuna was fried and tasted like KFC. The duck was bland, which is hard for duck to achieve. It was served with peas that had been frozen. I had soup and it was excellent but the elk ribs were over-cooked and served with an ordinary BBQ sauce.
We were very disappointed because we were trying to have a special evening.
This was my sixth time at this restaurant, which I use primarily for its convenient location. The lunch crowds are bigger than dinner crowds. Lunch is not bad but expensive. Dinner is expensive and usually inadequate. My first clue should have been that few of the hotel guests eat dinner there.
The service is consistently barely adequate, incomplete, inattentive (missing plates, having to ask about specials, missed opportunities to provide advice on meals and the menu, confused staff, indifferent staff) and it is not unusual to get meals mixed up.
Trendy ambience...delicious food...Upscale and chic! You want to impress a lunch date? Go to The Arc Lounge!
Great friendly service, upbeat atmosphere. Felt like we were in New York!
The restaurant has a slightly funky modern feel to it without being over the top. Service is quietly efficient and polite and the vibe is relaxed and calm. The food was great. Presentation impressive and the flavours sounded unusual on the menu but worked incredibly well, I have to admit. Enjoyed a great meal there with friends and would recommend but it's not cheap!
Had the duck confit...best I ever had! Looking forward to my next visit!
menu too limited and too narrow for general appeal.
This was my tenth lunch at this restaurant, the staff were unattentive, all three meals were wrong, a quiet table (special request) was not povided and the food wasn't up to its usual standard.
The hotel and restaurant has a very contemporary design feel with warm woods and clean lines. This feel is carried over with its wine and food selections. The meal was excellant and the service exemplary. Not knowing what to expect we thoroughly enjoyed our entire stay.
Great place for business...food and service is fantastic
The entire meal was wonderful from start to finish. Our server was great. I highly recommend Arc Lounge.
Everything was absolutely wonderful....I shall return over and over again!!!!
Excellent food, excellent service
not much choices on menu had 1 waiter serving all tables including mixing drinks at the bar
waited too long for his attention even though he was professional but he had too much to do
the place looks great but thats all I can say lots of potential for younger crowd in late 20's and early 30's to lounge enjoy good music if there was any
Unequivocally the worst experience I've EVER had. The host said I didn't have a reservation, with a lot of attitude, then seated us reluctantly when I showed my OT confirmation on my phone (surprising since there was only one table in the entire restaurant that had people sitting at it). We waited 15 mins before the server came to our table then was huffy and rude; he bumped into our table with his behind fairly forcefully almost spilling my martini (I caught it), he didn't even turn around to say sorry until he saw me staring at him across the room and then mouthed 'sorry' from across the room. Our meals came out late, cold and bland. I will never go back here, which is a shame because we were guests at the Arc Hotel which is lovely.
Nice enough place. Food was alright, but definitely not nearly good enough for their prices. Our server was mediocre at best. Would not eat there again - there's other, better choices for the money.
I chose this restaurant to celebrate my husband's birthday, mainly due to their use of local producers. Overall, the food was good to very good; certainly the quality of the ingredients was top notch. My starter (greens with cider vinaigrette and haloumi) was well done - great balance of sweet, salty, tart. My husband was a little disappointed with his lobster bisque - not as flavourful as it could have been. For his main, he had the Steak Frites - the steak was tender but again unfortunately the flavour seemed a little lacking. My bouillabaisse, the Catch of the Day special, was hearty and tasty, great on a chilly day.
Decor was tasteful and comfortable. Service was attentive but seemed in a hurry. A bit overpriced in my opinion.
Service from waiter was far below expectations. Will not be bringing clients here again.
A friend and I dined for lunch at Arc Lounge early last week. The lobster bisque was outstanding, creamy with large pieces of delicate meat. For the main, the beef burger was superb, prime O'Brien beef, onions, mushrooms and a surprise cream cheese filling. A brilliant experience left us smiling on a Monday afternoon.
Although the food and service were outstanding, I find it a bit pricy for lunch. $100. for two - a glass of wine each, soup, special of the day, and coffee.
This restaurant is NOT for diners trying to eat gluten free. There is little on the menu for a Celiac sufferer.
Sharp, modern looking dining room with attentive service. A hidden gem that is one of Ottawa's best hotel restaurants.
Having recently had the pleasure of dining at Arc Lounge, my colleagues and I are eager to return. It is the perfect spot for a business luncheon: the venue is attractive, the service is excellent, and the menu is superb. The duck confit, catch of the day and daily soup were fantastic. Arc Lounge is a must try.
After two wonderful dining experiences at Arc Lounge, my regular lunch date, and myself, absolutely refuse to entertain the notion of meeting at another venue. The food is creative, and perfectly executed. The service is impeccable. The wine list is outstanding. We look forward to seeing Chef Duffy at the next Golden Plates; I find it surprising that he hasn't been extended an invitation to this event as of yet, given the high caliber of the product he, and his team, deliver.
It was a quiet night for the restaurant and we weren't able to accurately rate the noise level.
My girlfriend and I had a fabulous dinner at the ARC Lounge. The food was unbelievably good, and the service was some of the most courteous and outstanding in the city. The ambiance was quiet and romantic, and the decor of the ARC Lounge was modern, elegant and breathtaking - perfect for a designer couple like ourselves. Having dined in most of the higher-end restaurants in the city and abroad, ARC Lounge was definitely an excellent experience to be repeated again in the future. Thank you for an excellent meal and evening.
Only one person serving and doing the bar on a Saturday night. Clearly not enought personal.
This is Ottawa's best kept secret. Reasonable prices, good quality, great decor.
If marketed better could easily be a hot spot in Ottawa.
