This was my fifth dining experience at AR Cucina and I knew the food was very good there, unfortunately we were disappointed with the service and indirectly with the food.
I took a date there for dinner. We had a nice small square table for two outside on the patio,
We ordered two appetizers and two pasta as well as a bottle of Red wine and a bottle of sparkling water.
The busboy brought the two appetizers and we started to eat. We were in no rush, it was a Sunday night and the dining room was half empty. About 3-4 ' into our appetizers, the busboy brought the two pasta. First there was just no room on that small table to place them as we were still eating the first course, second: it would have been nice that the waiter pay attention to us before putting the order for the pasta in. The busboy took them back to the kitchen and brought them again about 10-12' later, of course they were not as hot and as tasty as they should have been. I served ourselves the wine and the water, neither a busboy or our waiter catered to our table. It was definitely not a great dining experience and I am sure the pastas would have been great eating them right after they were cooked.
We had a great experience at AR Cucina. The service was excellent, the staff very personable and friendly! The food was very tasty and cooked to perfection. We had the trout and the Ahi Tuna pasta and would recommend both dishes. The pace of the service was perfect as we very much like to take our time eating and have a relaxing meal. Since our overall experience was so positive, I would highly recommend this restaurant. I know we will return!
The food was very good - lots of good details in the preparation. It was thanksgiving so the kitchen was very busy - service was a little bumpy: servers didn't bring all the plates at once, got the dessert order wrong (server failed to confirm the difference between ice cream and vegan coconut option). Otherwise, it was fine. People were friendly. This is a good place for very casual dining. Not fancy.
Friends recommended this restaurant which was close to the theater which were going to that evening. Very pleasant surprise. Not only was it convenient for the theater both the food and service were first rate . We will plan on eating there in the future even if we are not going to the theater.
I've been here three times now and the food is quite good, especially the pastas. I had the Fettuccine on my most recent visit and was very impressed. I was a bit disappointed with the Mista salad - the balsamic dressing was not very flavorful. They have a nice wine list and an extensive menu with lots to pick from.
Had a lovely evening at AR Cucina where the food was good and the waitstaff friendly and helpful. I had the tricolore salad which was crisp and delicious and the cacio e pepe pasta which was delicious. People in my party had sorbetti, ice cream, soft serve and enjoyed their desserts.
We went here for the amatriciana pasta. The taste was good but the portion was so tiny I laughed. We have just returned from Italy where we ate this pasta all over Rome and elsewhere because we love it. I wanted to tell the owner that if she served pasta like that to an Italian there would be disbelief and outrage
The service was so pathetic that I cannot recommend this restaurant even though the food was good. The restaurant was 1/2 empty and still the waiter and bus boys were not at all attentive. I had to get up and get my own plate at one point , got knives from the table next to me etc. This lousy service was frustrating and disappointing. We shall not return. I expected better!
Must say that our service was quite spotty. One of these would have been minor; the grouping was problematic. My friend's eggs arrived over hard, not over easy, as she had ordered. She had to ask a few times for salt and pepper (the salt came but not the pepper). I had to ask a couple of times for mustard; the first time a server-helper told me he wasn't sure the restaurant had any mustard. Are you training a new crew? Must say that I was disappointed after having had high expectations based on many visits to Akasha and to the late, lamented Indian eatery.
Enjoyed a great meal in the heart of downtown Culver City. As a couple, we opted to dine family style and found the portions, from the salad to dessert, ample and delicious. The service was spot on—attentive, yet patient enough to allow us to decide while diligently cycling thru the multiple courses. Definitely looking forward to exploring many more items on the menu in the future, including the drinks. Take a date, relax and enjoy!!
We loved our food. Great chopped salad and eggplant pizza. Everything was very tasty. Nice signature cocktails. Service was very polite. Decor was very simple and modern. Very lively place. Maybe we would have liked sitting on the front patio better for a little quieter experience.
My traditional Italian mother is still raving about the unconventional lasagna. It is nice to find an Italian restaurant where the entrees are not all about cheap filler ingredients (bland noodles and cheese). Surprised by how memorable everyone's meal was.
Wonderful menu...full choices of great options. Very creative cuisine, and excellent execution. I had a salad with anchovies that were more fresh than processed (YUM!). Trout was simple & flavorful (cooked perfectly). Apple tart-type dessert with flaky crust was fresh-tasting and not too sweet. It all was a joy!
The service was great, the food was good. My bucatini all'Americana pasta was tasty but nothing special. It was actually a bit disappointing because there was so little of the house cured guanciale in it that it probably shouldn't be listed as an ingredient. My friend loved her Mista salad with the add in of Sicilian tuna. Her salad was quite large, my pasta was smaller. The space itself is light and airy but obnoxiously loud. At lunch, there was our party of two, a table of four, and a table of six seated inside. It was so loud that I literally had to shout in order to converse with my friend. To top it off, when the staff would clean/set a table, they didn't bother to pick-up the chairs to move them, they just pushed them across the concrete floor adding to the unpleasant din of the place. If I were to go here again, I would ask for a patio table. Even with buses going by it has to be quieter than the inside dining room. The service was really very good and our waiter was attentive and pleasant. Kudos to him.
We were excited to try this new Culver City eatery, but it was disappointing. Some of the food was great, but my chicken was so over-salted it seemed like maybe a mistake was made. Restaurant was quite noisy, but a pleasant ambience in general. Not particularly beautiful or interesting. Some of our friends loved the food, but most thought it was ok.
An amazing experience. The best pasta I have had in a long time. I had the green lasagna (lasagna verde) and my friend the tagliatelle ai funghi.
If u are anywhere near Culver City don't miss this restaurant.
The appetizers are also excellent. The wine options by the glass are splendid and all at a great price.
I will be in LA in three weeks. I am stopping by again!
Had a lovely dinner there. I was impressed they offered a gluten free pasta as well as gluten free bread, both were delicious. I dined with my friend who does not have an adverse effect to wheat and she seemed to really enjoy her pasta dish as well, which is hand made in house. The cocktails were superb as well as the service. The espresso gelato pie for dessert was also very tasty if you enjoy coffee flavored desserts. ( this also happened to be gluten free as the crust is chocolate.)
This is a great place to go before the performance at the Kirk Douglas Theater. Owned by the same people who operate Akasha. There are always interesting items on the menu. There were 3 of us -- so we ordered several dishes to share. This time we tried a squash dish with polenta that we all agreed was the best of our choices -- also had the soup, a salad, and a pasta dish. The food is always excellent.

I ordered the NY Strip steak medium rare but came out well down. Staff apologized and grilled up a new one that was cooked perfectly. The heirloom salad was incredible and I usually hate tomatoes...
Tiramisu is a must.

I hope new trend in restauratnts will be less noise. Sitting outside, you are right on the sidewalk. Akasha Richmond and her chef have developed a really good idea. Staff is very accomodating and the food that was delivered to our table was very good/excellent. Recommend the octopus and the heirloom tomatos are perfect. Please ask for a bit of bread with these items, it really improves the taste. We think the trout was good and the eggplant parmigana was good, but each was served nearly cold and when sent back to the kitchen, the second trip out, the items were even colder. In our case, probably a disconnect between kitchen and serving staff. The squash casserole item we had was off the charts. And the shrimp scampi and pizzas at the adjoining table looked terrific as well. Our server was terrific, even putting up with a grumpy old man like me. What I really don't understand, is why a manager will offer a free desert when the meal served was not up to par? A free desert just doesn't overcome what is wrong. I think a heartfelt "I'm sorry" would be more appropriate. And, yes we will go back.
