Great ambiance, great food, great drinks, great service. Husband and I were looking for a new spot to love and we found it.
Really enjoyed a delightful variety of dishes with my friend. We couldn't decide on just 1 or 2 dishes to satisfy our cravings, so we decided to share a chopped salad, pizza (that was really terrific) eggplant parmigiana & last, but not least, Nonna's ravioli. To say that we were "stuffed" and more than satisfied would be a very minimizing description of how we felt afterwards. We will definitely go back again very soon.
The food is delicious and tastes very authentic. I’m European and have been to Italy a lot, and I am in no way an expert at all, but I think it holds is own. The restaurant is stylish and comfortable and has a great buzz. Our waiter was very nice. However, more people need to be employed - the service is very friendly, but it’s not good. We ordered our first drink and it came 25 minutes later. Our starters came quite quickly and we really enjoyed them. But when the main courses came my order was wrong and I don’t eat what came, so had to wait for the right food to turn up after my husband had his correct order arrive. The first drinks came 25 minutes after ordering and we asked for water while waiting for them, it wasn’t offered. When we wanted another drink we could not get the waiters attention at all because he was rushing about so much even though he walked by our table quite a few times, but I’m not going to shout in a restaurant, and he was clearly working really hard. When we eventually did, they took 25 minutes or so to come again! Last time we came we were sat at the bar and the drinks still took forever, to the point of disbelief. We do love the food, and the drinks are great and the place has a great atmosphere, but it needs way more waiters and bar staff. Please!
If you come for happy hour, be warned, portions are TINY. The charcuterie plate was a disappointment because it was full priced and came with all of 9 tiny pieces of meat. The chicken meatballs were half portion (two meatballs). The burrata crostinis were little bite sized pieces. The only thing we really enjoyed all night was the pizza on the regular dinner menu.
Happy hour drinks were quite watered down as well.
Awful service. Just awful. We had to physically go find our waiter TWICE. Our desert was delivered to the wrong table. The music was completely wrong for the space. The staff was in disarray (not rude, just confused and overwhelmed). If you're going to run a restaurant STAFF IT PROPERLY.
This was our 5th or 6th visit, and every time we go hoping it will be better than the last time. Silly us.
the mushroom lasagna in the specials, was amazing. Wish the piece was bigger
Amazing food. I’d say the pasta is pretty on par with pasta I’ve had in italy. Very pleasant surprise. Highly recommend.
This restaurant has good Italian food. We had a delicious Caesar salad with gnocchi, cacio e pepe pasta, and apple crostata for dessert. Our waiter was friendly and efficient. It’s a cozy and comfortable space.
Everything we had was delicious. We sat on the patio on an early rainy Friday evening before going to the theater and it was perfect. Cocktails, wine, shared the caesar salad (fried gnocci as croutons is GENIUS and so delicious and the only way I want to eat caesar salad from now on). Pasta and trout were lovely. Will definitely go back!
Our meal was satisfactory, but nothing special and the portion sizes were quite small. Service was not particularly attentive or proactive and we needed to request water and other needs. The dessert we ordered was supposed to be hot, but was served cold and sent back. Though we were eventually given a new order, it would have been nice to have it comped due to the inconvenience. We sat in the front patio which may be fine some nights, but we happened to be surrounded by a number of loud tables which made conversation difficult. No plans to return.
My group of six really enjoyed their food, from the famous chicken to the pizza. I felt it was n’ t worth the $297.00 check without tip!I felt the tiny $15.00 cocktails, charges for bread, seltzer water, etc.- was excessive. The entrees don’t come with any sides, so add $7-8.00 for each adds up quickly here.
The busboys were great at clearing away dirty dishes and pouring water refills, but our sweet waitress was difficult to find. We ordered drinks and appetizers, which came in about 10mins, not bad, but it then took another 15+ mins for her to return after we had finished our appetizers to then take our dinner orders.
It was Friday night, so the place was hopping, very, very noisy, but I guess that’s any popular place these days in LA.
The food was excellent. Portions were small for the price. There is no free bread and to me, that is a serious deficiency in an Italian restaurant. The bread portions (extra charge) were small as were all portions. However, the tastes were quite good.
Great neighborhood find. Addictive food and drinks. Good happy hour, as well.
Love this place and frequent often. Food and drinks are delish and service perfect. It’s one of my go tos in Culver City.
The center of Culver City is always bustling with new restaurants. The location next to Tender Greens on Culver has been Ford Filling Station to now AR Cucina. I made my Open Table reservation at a standard table and was seated on the patio with a space heater when the WHOLE restaurant was WIDE open. When I inquired, the server said those were for reservations. I guess OT didn't rate.
The Brussel sprouts were great but garlicky. The chicken meatballs with bread were delicious. The cacio e pepe was fair. Best in town is Pecorino in Brentwood. All in all the food was good and the service was very attentive. I would go back...with a jacket in case of patio seating.
Excellent food but pretty loud
Meal was very tasty, as always, but the presentation is always a crap shoot here. My sloppily made raviolis looked like they were thrown together and dumped on our plates. The bread basket is not included in the meal. Who ever heard of a nice Italian place, not including bread with your meal?
They don't validate parking. Holiday decorations were still hanging, and it's February.
Food was very good, but someone is missing the details...
This place is so great. I can't believe we didn't know about it -- the food is fabulous, so authentic. Best pesto I have ever had! We had a delicious steak that fed 3 people. The waitress was great, the place was super casual, and the food was excellent. We will definitely be back.
Great as always. Our waitress, Sarah is a charming.
Great place to go before or after seeing a performance at Kirk Douglas Theater.
AR Cucina is a wonderful restaurant and I have frequented many times.
I believe the only comment I have is that maybe brunch is not ready yet, but will be soon.!
Every bite was perfect. Great food. Exactly what I was hoping for.
Fantastic food and service with great ambiance. We felt lucky to get in on Valentine's Day.
Absolutely wonderful! Was there with a party of 10. We sat down quickly and the food was delicious. Each and every one of us enjoyed our drinks and dinner! Great find in Culver City!!
The food was amazing. Service was good. We will definitely be back.
Greatly enjoyed the gnocchi polenta with lamb sausage ragu. Also the pork chops were extremely flavorful, loved the chopped salad, it had a wonderful flavor. The wait staff was very friendly and nice. It was our anniversary and we enjoyed it immensely!
I have been to AR Cucina before so it was a perfect choice to meet my friend. Tuesdays is 1/2 price on bottles of wine, so we shared a bottle of Prosecco. Then we shared the tricolore salad. I had the pasta with pesto sauce and my friend had the lemon pasta with shrimp. We shared tiramisu for dessert. The service was great, although our server never told us her name.
I will definitely go back again.
Very friendly and helpful serving staff. The cacio e Pepe was very good as was the lasagna and special salad. I had the gelato for dessert which was rich and creamy. A good time was had by all guests.
The food was delicious and the waitress helpful with wine pairings for our different courses.
the homemade pasta and the house Italian wines were excellent
seriously good food in a very casual atmosphere.
best burata around and great gluten free bread for those of us who like that sort of thing..
It really isn’t Italian. The pasta was over cooked and the flavor profile was more American than Italian.
The food is awesome. Akasha is one of the few name chefs in L.A. that can actually back up the name with solid cooking and her staff does a great job at replicating her work. Service is where the place fails though-----waitress was a bit too casual and came back several times indicating our wine choice was not available. Perhaps the manager could start the night by checking stock and indicating that to the staff BEFOREHAND to avoid confusion. After that, the waitress pretty much avoided us for the rest of the night. Was hoping for more from a place that charges fine dining prices but doesn't back it up with the service.
There was little about this meal that seemed worthwhile or refined, other than perhaps the bread served at the outset. The caccio e pepe was gloppy, the pork chop was on the tough and under-flavored side; the tiramisu was tasteless.
And then there was the television over the bar, which, when the football concluded was replaced by some sort of bloody surgical procedure. Not pleasant or conducive to dining.
Food was good but seated late with a reservation.
Great restaurant...love the food and service is amazing! But, the hostess needs an attitude change! And cocktails are just fair.
We needed to meet old friends who were in town for one night. I wanted to try something new and AR Cucina has been on my list for a while. It turned out to be the perfect spot - nice ambiance, great food, drinks, wine and not too pricey. We all shared several appetizers, pizza, a few pastas, lasagna and dessert and everyone loved it all!
Consistently delicious! We have been coming here since it opened and are always happy.
i am a long term client of Akasha and this was my first time at AR cucina. I was quite disappoinrted. I had a great initial impression of Akasha but felt over the years it deteriorated quite a lot. I had hoped AR may represent a newly invigorated version of the older, slightly tired akasha but i am afraid i felt it didnt live up to my expectation. service was poor, food wasnt great and im not in a hurry to gop back!
Nice tira misu though!!
It was over 15 minutes from the time we were seated until we were acknowledged by the wait staff. However, this was soon remedied by a complimentary round of cocktails which were expertly made and delicious. The food was very good and quick to arrive. A rocky beginning but the staff made amends and the chopped salad excellent.
