it was a quiet time which I enjoy vs noise. Food was very good and our waiter was great. I sure miss your first lovely outdoor patio you had in past years. I like eating outside in the good weather so seek outdoor places much of the time. Yesterday was too hot to be outside.

The ambiance was lovely but the food was very disappointing. The French onion soup was served incredibly hot and once cool enough to taste had no flavor. The risotto was very good but the huge chunks of chicken made it seem like it was a place for leftover chicken.

Could tell that the salad/lettuce was several days old- brown and wilted. Still edible, but obvious that the dregs of their fridge cleaned out for the Fourth of July holiday weekend.

Such a shame that a nice location and a charming restaurant is being let down by poor operations and service. During my several years of experience dining across the US and abroad, I don’t remember when was the last time I rated a place 1 star. Aquitaine-Chestnut Hill perhaps deserves less than 1. After being seated, none of the waiters came over to keep water or ask for drinks. It was a slow day for them with perhaps 2 tables occupied at that point in time so it was not that they were busy but it did feel like we were being ignored. We were wondering if it was our skin color or just that they don’t want to do their work? Usually I don’t bring the race angle but I saw them waiters greeting and placing water promptly to another group who came later. Waited for 15 mins and called waiter myself and he got us bottle of water. Again he wouldn’t ask us about food or tell us anything about their brunch menu. Waited for another 15 mins and I had to get up and go find the manager. She was sitting at the bar working on her phone and was also looking over a child. She asked “didn’t they come and say hi to you?” :) She got our order and then went inside to inform the kitchen. We got a French onion soup which was very ordinary with too much of soaked bread and overflowing cheese. We also got sirloin steak that was asked to be cooked medium but came out medium rare. Eggs were a far cry from restaurant standard, they were plain and simple scrambled eggs, I make better at home. No one came back to ask how the food was or if we need anything else. We called for check and to my surprise, there was a 3% kitchen appreciation charge included already and am like for what?! But at that point in time we just wanted to pay and leave that place. I left $0 tip and wrote a note on the bill explaining why and hoping the owner or general manager would somehow get to see it.
