Aquarium Restaurant - Downtown Denver Ratings and Reviews
It was great after we got seated. I had a 4:15 reservation walked up at 4 to check in and the lady snapped about coming back at 4:15. Then they seated us 5 minutes later. But other then that the food and the waitress were great! Good view of the aquarium from our seat, even though we sat near the entrance of the restaurant.
We took part in the Restaurant Week menu offering. The staff was good, however, the service was very slow both in the bar and at the table. It took over 10 minutes at the bar to get one drink and 30 minutes to get an appetizer to us. Our server at the table was good, attentive but not overbearing. Our kids loved the aquarium and we were thankful for the distraction it provided as it took nearly 40 minutes for the food to arrive. The food was a disappointment. The shrimp embrochette was over cooked and lacked flavor. We were expecting much more from a Landry's affiliated restaurant. The aquarium experience was fun but the food was some of the worst we've had. The six adults in our party agreed that none of us will return to this restaurant.
We went during restaurant week and was surprised to see so many young children running around the restaurant. Our reservation was for 7:30 pm on a Friday night. We could see the fish tank, but our view was constantly obstructed by servers and other patrons in the high traffic area. The calamari was tasteless and the fish greasy. Our server kept forgetting our requests for water. I like the aquarium but not the restaurant.
Everything was fantastic including our waiter, who was very patient with 4 toddlers. However, the timing of everything was SLOW. And 2 of 7 orders were completely wrong so we did not all eat together. They really needed to staff up for 5280 and clearly did not.
Went for 5280 week on a Friday night. Very busy evening. The staff did their utmost to keep up and were polite, profesional, and enthusiastic. We went with another couple who had a 2-year old who was thrilled and excited. The food was pretty good, however as someone who lived by the ocean I have had much much better. In short, if you have kids and want a decent seafood meal this could be a good place for you.
The atmosphere is why you go to the aquarium restaurant...the food is good but way overpriced for the quality and quantity. It was a fun place to experience eating next to the fish tanks...but I don't think we'll be going back anytime soon. I think we could get more, better Seafood at Red Lobster, Pappadeaux, or even Joe's Crab Shack for similar to less money. Also, it was my wife's birthday. The hostess as well as our waiter were aware and they did nothing extra (which good restaurants usually do...whether fancy or not).
The fish tank was pretty but they were also cleaning it while we were there so it took away from the atmosphere. The other decor was somewhat cheesy. Great place to bring kids, lots of room for them to run around. We went for 5280, but would not want to go there on any other occasion. I think the food was overpriced for the quality.
We had been there before. It was a cold, snowy windy night, and there were maybe 7 other tables of customers. The aquarium itself was empty. We said we would like to see the aquarium, and they said it would be 13.99 per person, after we had spent over $150.00 on the so-so dinner. We won't be returning. By the way, the waitress was great.
Meh Food was about as expected app was okay sandwiches had soggy bread on the bottom. Certainly more desirable for the atmosphere than the food. Service was adequate the server was friendly and knew how to handle a table with small children. He did take a "smoke break" during our meal and I could smell it on him when he returned with our food eww. But he was very attentive without being obnoxious.
This restaurant is always fun to take the kids or out of town guests. The floor to ceiling aquarium is nice to look at while you eat. The staff is helpful, but tend to be a bit canned in their aquarium schtick. The food is ok, certainly not upscale. We had requested a table alongside the glass wall when making our reservation 24 hrs before, but were told upon arrival that those tables were taken. This was disappointing.
We were not impressed what so ever. The dining portion was fairly empty and yet we couldn't sit next to the fish tank - even thought multiple parties came in after us and asked to sit next to the tank and they were able to. The food is extremely pricey for the quality. We got the Caesar salads to start which was okay (a little too much dressing) but the portion size was large. I got the eggplant paramasean which had absolutely no egg plant - it said lightly crusted but it was pretty much all bread. I don't mean to be harsh but even with the $52.80 we spent $100 (we got 4 drinks) and I would rather have eaten at Olive Garden. The highlight of the meal was the Creme Brûlée. We will not be eating here again.
this was our first visit to this restaurant and frankly, we were disappointed. the menu did not seem to match the atmosphere. it seems more like they should be serving burgers and fish and chip baskets rather than trying to be a fine dining establishment. this restaurant is confused. while kid-friendly, they either need to focus on being family oriented (mermaids and such) or focus on the food and atmosphere as being something finer than what it is currently. it was decent, but had it not been for the restaurant week menu and pricing, it would have been over priced.
My husband had the Macadamia crusted Mahi Mahi, the portion size was quite small although the fish was very good. I had the Bacon wrapped grilled Shrimp, the portion size was good but the shrimp was tough and over cooked. The service was terrible. We sat at the table for a long period of time before being acknowledged by the waitstaff. At one point I gave up on the waiter and ask another person for some help and she said she would get the waiter ( I was asking for a box to go). We waited 10 minutes for him to pick up the check. Originally, I wanted a 6 pm table time and there was none available. My reservation was at 4:30. There were several empty tables at 6. The restaraunt was clean and it had a nice atmospher
We could not have picked a better anniversary spot. The aquarium itself was spectacular, and since it was a weeknight the crowds were not terrible. We were not able to see the mermaid show because it was President's Day - this was a disappointment, but it made sense and the rest of the experience easily made up for it. We finished our tour of the aquarium a bit earlier than we expected, and they had no problem moving up our reservation. As many others have said, be sure to ask to sit in the Water Room if you are on a date - it is much quieter and more romantic than the main restaurant, and you have an excellent and private view of the tank. Food was amazing (glad they had options besides seafood!) and the service was friendly. We recommend!
Food was very good. Very kid friendly which is obviously important after a long day traveling through the Aquarium. Nice that they have the entertainment (the mermaids and the fish tanks). The noise level was also good. It was great to have the reservations and not have to wait in line as they were telling others the wait time was up to 45 minutes!
The place is incredible. The food is excelent! but the service specially can do some training how to be more friendly and show the costumer it will be a wonderful evening. it was a surprise birthday gift for my husband and when we got there to check in the front desk lady is a snob and with attitude like why we are there..They should hire someone willing to put a happy friendly face whatever their issueis. for like us that is first time customer, our first impression is poor. Yes i will recommend the place maybe for food but if their customer service is like that , prolly not. people go there to have fun, enjoy a meal after a long day of adventure ,. so snobby and attitude towards customer is not acceptable.
I am a member of your Select Club and purchased Valentines Day dinner package for my two nephews with their wife and fiance. ($240+) They enjoyed dinner and were seated next to aquarium. Part of the package purchased was to include a photo; however, they were not given opportunity to take their photos. They were disappointed; and it would have made a nice memory. They did enjoy their seating, however, and the overall experience was nice.
I loved the ambience of the place, but the service was extremely slow. we got sat at 12 and didn't leave until 2, with 3 children it made it hard. Drinks and food took a lifetime to arrive. The food was mediocre at best, but the aquarium views and catching up with old friends made it worth it, but the service was terrible. Our server was training so one would think that the service would be spot on, so not the case. We asked for our check. After about 8 minutes our server finally came back with our souvenir glasses, but NO check. I had texted my husband saying we were getting our check and going into the aquarium. It was 45 minutes later that we finally got our checks and paid. I would give it another try and hope for faster service.
I did see a couple get turned away. It was 3:00 on Valentine's Day. I realize it is a busy night but the restaurant was very quiet the entire hour and a half we were there. However, the manager said they would not seat them without a reservation. They could have eaten and been out before the crowd came. When we were there, maybe 5 tables were filled. I felt bad for them. You might have lost potential future customers.
