We went for my 25th birthday -- had a blast! We asked in our reservation that they seat us next to the tank so that our daughter could watch the mermaid show. When we got there super early, I thought the restaurant would just sit us wherever they could since it was so busy. Instead, they were able to still sit us by the tank (I didn't even ask or remind them we wanted to sit there) and my daughter LOVED the show!! And the food of course lol My husband and I both had marg's and they were just as yummy as the food we got. I had the crab cake and he had the fried platter. For dessert, we had the lava cake which was AMAZING!! and so worth the wait (they say it takes about 20 min but I swear it was out faster than that). While they didn't sing or anything like that for my bday, it was an unforgettable night and seeing my daughter so happy (and her tummy full by the end) was the best!! Also-- had we not had a reservation we probably wouldn't have been able to get a spot. With it being St. Patty's Day (we forgot that it was that day) there were A TON of people there!! So it all worked out super well.
It was a bit pricy and the food was horrible! The private mermaid show was nice.
Had very good service in the restaurant. Made the visit special. Awesome waitress was very knowledgeable about Aquarium.
The staff were so welcoming, friendly, and professional. Great crew!
All the food is great except the child’s chicken tenders that tasted awful. Unfortunately our son didn’t say anything but that he wasn’t hungry. We got back to our hotel and tried them later (took them to go after he didn’t eat), and they literally had no flavor. Waitress was great, and it was quiet and not super busy. Overall, a pretty good experience.
The food and service was great. If you are there during the mermaid swim, and happen to be seated by the aquarium, a bunch of people will literally surround your table. That part was pretty annoying. A bunch of stranger leaning over you as you try to eat and enjoy your surroundings. Other than that, it was a really great experience. Like I said, the food and service was top notch!
Too many dishes had jalapeno's and we had a hard time finding anything to eat. Large quantity of food. Great decor. Mermaid show was fun. That and meeting a friend close for her to get to, and we hadn't been to the aquarium since it was Ocean Journey. If we visit again we will go through the aquarium, and eat somewhere else. Good for one experience, but don't need to go again to the restaurant.
LOVED this restaurant! The food was delicious and the service was amazing! My only complaint would be that I made reservations for my Little's birthday ahead of time, so that we could be seated by the glass to see the mermaids. I made the reservation about 30 minutes ahead of the show so there would be plenty of time to order and get food and really enjoy the show. When the mermaids started their show, both I and my kiddo got basically shoved out of the way by a bunch of other kids, who's parents had been sat further back, due to not making reservations. These kids shoved their way in and stood directly in front of us so we couldn't see. I know this sort of falls on these kids parents, but the restaurant could crowd control a little better. These kids have plenty of opportunity to see the mermaids at the regular show. They definitely crowded the whole table. I reserved the table early to have a clear view and really enjoy the mermaids. These kids walked up and down the entire length of the windows following the mermaids, so they also stood in front of others. It sort of ruined that part of the experience for myself and my kiddo. If I had known that would happen, we would have just watched the regular mermaid show and had a cheaper meal somewhere else.
Our reservation was for 7:00pm and we wait for about 45 minutes, in other hand our Waitress did an exceptional job
We had reservations and we had to wait over 45 minutes past our time to get a seat.
Once we got seated it was good,
We had reservations for 5:30, checked in at around 5:15 they were not ready which was ok, we were early but then we had to check on our seating status at 5:50(20 mins after our scheduled reservation and that is when they sat us... it appeared that they forgot about us... not sure how much longer would have had to wait if I had not asked for an update. We have young kids and did the reservations because they so not have the attention span to wait long. Reservations were still better then the walk in wait time (2 hours...WOW)
Food was ok, but not worth the price. Ordered a Kids Meal- pizza and non of my kids would eat it, said it tasted weird. Husband tried it and said it just had no flavor. I would go back for the Ambiance but not the food.
our waiter was good, I think his name was George!
Food was good, took our waitress about ten minutes to greet us! We made a reservation about 3 weeks prior and requested to sit by the aquarium but did not happen! There were plenty of tables by the aquarium but they wanted to sit us at a booth! It was a good experience, will go back again!
McKenzie at the restaurant check in is very sweet a helpful! Got our table quickly with a great view! Thanks!
The hype is NOT worth the price. My family and I did not even eat a 1/4 of our meals. The food was just awful. Everything was over priced. I’ve had better fish and chips at Long John Silvers. The only appealing thing was the aquarium being part of the restaurant. Do not waste your time.
Service was amazing! They held our table for us when we were late because of Denver traffic. Our only issue was the food. It wasn’t very good. Atmosphere was fun though!
Our server was incredible and the food was so much better than we thought it would be. Went for Denver restaurant week
Ordered a bottle of rose, it was warm. Offered to chill it, still came out warm. Said they would give us a new bottle, server came back out with same bottle they put in the freezer for 10 min, still warm!! Have a bottle of Chardonnay, in place of the rose. Told us desert would be comped, charged us for dessert anyways.... management was not helpful at all!
Great experience with my two little ones. We will be back.
Kids had a blast. Parents too!
The service was extremely slow. Our server was not attentive. Did not make a note of how my mother wanted her burger. Rolled her eyes when we asked her to fix it. Ended up cancelling her burger because of how long it was taking. Donuts for grandkids never came so we cancelled it too. We will never come back there.
Nice restaurant and decor. Obviously it is a place where people bring their kids so that was a little annoying because kids are loud but other than that it was really nice.
Was somewhat disappointed in the food. Not as good as I thought it would be, but still good. Enjoyed the tour thru the Aquarium
Friendly and efficient service, big portion of food, very layback atmosphere.
We went on the Denver Restaurant Week, it is a great value for the price we paid for.
Always a great time. You don't come here for outstanding unique food or even amazing service though both are certainly more than passable. You come here for the giant ceiling-to-floor fish tanks and, probably, a visit to the Aquarium. On that end, this is a must-go. Portions are generous and it's a fair, family-friendly price-point.
Seated on time at a round booth - great for a date. Our server was always attentive throughout the whole meal. We took our time had appetizers, dinner and a shared dessert and never felt rushed. The large aquarium was right in front of us and was fun to watch. We had the coconut shrimp and calamari appetizers, the salmon Oscar and the steak and fried shrimp entrees which came well generous sides and shared a huge key lime pie. Everything was delicious and well prepared. I’d recommend the Aquarium Restaurant for dates or any special dinner out.
Our first time doing restaurant week and this was our choice. We had such a great time. Thank you!
Our service was poor and we waited for our food for 45 mins. The music was extremely loud. I was very disappointed and won’t be returning. For the price, I expected better service.
We all had a great time. Enjoyed the food and our waitress was great!
We were seated on time, our server (Rose) was very friendly and attentive. The food arrived in a reasonable amount of time, the aquarium view was a great way to pass the time while waiting on the food. Rose gave us a quick orientation of the inhabitants of the aquarium delivered with the right mix of facts, humor, sarcasm, and seriousness.
The food was tasty and hot from the kitchen. Would recommend as a great place to eat and pass the time.
My ratings are a little skewed by the specific situation I experienced. I don't like kids near me or my table when I'm dining out and that is exactly what happened. The mermaids came out and it was like child (and adult) groupies swarmed our table to get closer to the glass to watch. If you like kids, then this will be fine for you but I wasn't a fan of it. The ambiance is soothing without the mermaid performance.
The place is a tad pricey... $10 for a Caesar salad (not including chicken), my plate originally (not the restaurant week deal) would have been $26 for red tail fish, some rice, and veggies. The food is good, so dont let my penny pintching scare you away. Just try it if you're debating.
It was a busy night and we were notified that there might be a delay, in fact, there wasnt a delay and we were seated at our reserved time. Service was slow initially but picked right up and was excellent. Food was delicious. The ambiance was a delight. It is definately worth checking into.
Had the most amazing experience at the Downtown Aquarium for Restaurant Week. The food was delicious and way above what we were expecting. The dining area was such a delight and it was so fun watching the fish swim by as we enjoyed our meal. Also getting to walk through the aquarium after was a plus.
Children's meals need an upgrade on appearance and taste.
Regular menu items are great and desserts area amazing!
Ambiance is fun with the underground, aquatic theme!
We had a great time! It was an enjoyable experience for the entire family.
Was told 1:30 at the hostess stand. Used Open Table and waited :05. Saved the rest of our plans for the day!
We met for a special birthday and the Denver Aquarium was most amazing!
We booked a table for 6 for a birthday party for our son. We requested a table by the mermaid show and the kids loved being close up and personal with the mermaids. The food was excellent as was our waitress. We learned a bit about the tank and fish we were seeing through our waitress. They made the day special by adding a candle for our son to blow out for his birthday!
Our food was very good. Our waitress was OK for the most part but we learn more from listening to waiter at the table next to ours. He explained things about the Aquarium and also told them about the specials. We got none of that. Also heard from that waiter that if you wanted the molten cake desert you have to give them a 20 minute head start. We ordered it when our meal can and it worked out fine. I was disappointed that the cake was lacking the molten chocolate. Our waitress brought the bill but never followed up on if everything was ok. Main courses were all very good but service was so, so.
It wasn’t close to what we were expecting. Food could be a lot better for the price.
Normally I’m not super picky about service but it was terrible. First time I’ve been out for a nice meal since having my kids. Our waitress acted very put out anytime we asked for anything(like a box) or when she asked my husband if he’d like some more coffee and he replied yes she rolled her eyes. Food was ok but not $26 a plate good. Pretty disappointed.
