Tremendous meal this evening at AQUAGRILL. This is a restaurant that never disappoints. Some of the best seafood in nyc and an incredible oyster selection. Will be returning often
Fun spot where oysters and booze are front and center. I went to lunch there got the cod cake sandwich. I prefer my food minimally spiced to let the main ingredient shine through but this sandwich was dominated by the pepper relish, etc.
Large annoying table of drunk “bros” ruined the ambience
Service overall is excellent. Our waitress was awful. Got many things wrong and worse yet, didn't seem to care
We Had Dinner with 9 friends; food was good, service was normal.
But for some reason (I can't figure out yet); the meal , Saki, and and desert was not very satisfying. Perhaps, I will give Aquagrill a second try.
We always visit Aquagrill when we go to NYC (which is about once a year). It never disappoints. The seafood is consistently fresh and well prepared. I had the bouillabaisse (again!) because it is so amazing. My husband had the mushroom truffled cod which he too said was superb. As an appetizer we always have oysters which are among the freshest around. In addition, we absolutely love the "little extras", like the assorted homemade breads they bring to you at the start of the meal (including a stick of cornbread!), the little amuse bouche between courses, and the gorgeous tiny homemade cookies at the end. Their wait staff is very professional and courteous without being pretentious. Desserts are also delicious. We particularly love the Coconut Panna Cotta.
We only have 2 small negatives. 1. Timing seemed a bit rushed on this visit. We would have liked a bit more time between the oysters and the mains. This is a higher end restaurant. No one likes to be rushed when eating a nice meal. 2. The lighting (and perhaps the seat arrangement) in the back part of the restaurant has always bothered me a bit. When we have been seated at the front, everything seems a bit more intimate. For some reason, when we have been seated closer to the back (as was the case this time), the lighting doesn't seem as intimate and I also feel "removed" from the whole vibe of the place. We now have eaten in both parts and definitely prefer the front end of the restaurant.
Great experience, but we were sitting in the back and it was way too hot. We were all sweating! Nevertheless , I would highly recommend and we will be back for sure.
I had a fantastic brunch. The service was on point, and the food was delicious. My guest and I ordered the lobster rolls.
Everything we ordered was delicious. I can't say enough good things about our experience - from check-in, to the wine, to the delicious warm bread, the freshness of the oyster choices, the crab claws - everything was PERFECT! We were celebrating my son's 32nd birthday and it was a nice touch to receive a candle on his dessert! So glad we had this experience. We will definitely be back. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
The best fish you could ask for cooked and served to perfection! From the raw clam to the desserts, a truly delicious meal.
Delicious appetizer of tuna tartare, main course of scallops with crabmeat risotto and branzino
The best chilean seabass anywhere!
At over $300 for three people (without any desserts or bottle of wine and only two drinks) way overpriced for small portions and not exceptional food.
Excellent service, food was amazing, highly, highly recommended for an excellent dinning experience.
The food is always delicious. The service was impeccable. This is always a happy place.
Terrific all around. I started with the very good clam chowder, then had the falafel-encrusted salmon which had a marvelous sauce of tomatoes and cucumbers. My husband and the mussels soup (which I had a single spoonful of - yummy!--then enjoyed the divers scallops with a risotto.
Our server was very energetic and efficient.
The room itself was very attractive with unusual wall hangings.
While the meal was a little on the pricey side, we would definitely plan on a return trip.
The food was exceptional. The service was outstanding and extremely attentive and helpful when selecting from the long list of Oysters (my server was spot on with regard to what we were looking for). Wine selection great!!! Definitely worth the experience if you love seafood.
Really good, excellent food
Amazing oysters and seafood. Fish dishes are just the best! Great sized portions and very delicious! Needs a good sprucing up and some paint. Is it part of the ambiance or just neglect? Not fine dining.
We could not have been more delighted with our first experience dining at Aquagrill! Ambience, the warm welcome on arrival, comprehensive and creative menu offering and fresh pristine product along with top-notch food quality and presentation combined to result in a most memorable evening! Jerry, our server was excellent as were the bar and front staff.
Food is excellent. Good service. Expensive but worth it
We’ve been to Aquagrill many, many times (one of our favorites) but never for New Year’s Eve! What a wonderful, fun, delightful experience it was! The price fixe menu was sumptuous and the service was top notch. Fabulous evening all around and we never for one second felt rushed. Really felt like one big happy family!
Lovely space, good service but food was uneven. Oysters, soup and dessert were excellent but the sea urchin and octopus were both slightly fishy, indicating they were not at their peak. Disappointing.
We have had dinner here dozens of times and it is always excellent. We typically have a dozen oysters for the two of us and we each have an entree. We will keep coming back. We often eat around 6 pm as it is quieter.
It was a very nice restaurant with friendly service and good food.
Visited the restaurant for Stone Crab. Sat down at 6:45pm and they were out!!! The salmon was heavy with sauce and hummus, the salmon skin app was not good, the menu was a bit limited and the tables were super tight. The waitstaff was really nice as was the management and other than the food and the costly dinner it was a nice experience.
Excellent fish as always. Somewhat loud.
Aquagrill was (for us) a New Find in Soho. The atmosphere is that of a local place, very packed with folks and very energetic. What sets it apart for us is the quality level of the food, and the excellent service by the staff, who were perfectly attentive without hovering. Do not expect any servers to tell you 'it's my first day' here. Highly satisfying. We'll be back.
We dined at Aquagrill on 12/28. Our server Dionna was fabulous as well as Iffty the GM. Food was outstanding but Martini pricing was shocking. Also could not order a bottle of Cabernet for under $125. They need some moderately priced wines. We will go back
ALways a favorite. The Miso glazed chilean sea bass is divine!
Sometimes the oldies are just the best. My husband and i have been going to this restaurant since it opened in 1996 and it is just as good now as it was then. The waiters are wonderful and set the mood, especially Pepe. Some of the seafood dishes have taken on an Asian essence which is wonderful. They even give you old school cookies with your check. Hospitality never grows old so neither will Aquagrill let’s hope!
Not a seafood lover but my wife loves its so i gave it ago . Tbf the food was very nice along with everything this else . If this is your taste id definitely recommend you try it .
food is outstanding. Recommend to order a bottle of wine.
This is one of my favorite restaurants. The food, service and staff are exquisite. Romaine is wonderful, efficient, knowledgeable, and caring. I love everything I've eaten there. Will be back soon.
This place has a great reputation for a reason. Service was excellent even on a busy holiday evening. The oysters were fresh and flavorful; our entrees were terrific. We will definitely return.
music far too loud, preventing conversation
The noise level from the music was intolerable. The restaurant was small, understandably, but it went beyond that to downright cramped and tables jammed together.
Too much sauce. The crab claws were ok. The shells need to be crushed better considering how little space there is. The crab meat was not as sweet as it has been elsewhere.
The waiters kept kicking and bumping my wife's chair.
Children have no place here!
Bartender was fun, waiter was attentive and personable and the oysters were great.
Doesn't get better than that.
