Such a treat! Beautiful Victorian house, wonderful food and great service. The homemade pasta and sausage was fantastic.
Everything was amazing!! The lobster gnocchi is the only way to eat lobster in our opinion. Our server, Joseph, was knowledgeable, helpful, and extremely charming with our two children. Aposto is a wonderful place for excellent food and service!
Fantastic! Great for a nice quiet date. Service is attentive, but not overdone. Food is great. Desert was off the hook!
Waiter was able to provide good input. Food was excellent.
The ambience and food was top-notch. The service was fine--however I felt a bit rushed. The server cleared plates on the table when one of the two diners was still eating. In addition, the main course came before we had finished our small plate starters. It seems this type of establishment lends itself to a more leisurely and relaxed type of evening. It would be lovely if the staff could lean towards that as well. We will be back as it was overall a lovely experience.
Amazing food and service. Our waiter Joseph was great!
Always one of the best dining experiences in Des Moines. Ate on the porch, lovely evening and wonderful service. Good wine and drink selections and pasta cooked to perfection.
Love this place! Great for a date night or special dinner with family and friends. The food is incredible. The pop up brunches are also awesome!
We love Aposto! Everything is always perfect.
Excellent ambiance and wonderful food. Truly a unique dining experience. Went for Restaurant Week 2019 and had the chance to try tasty, fresh, handmade food. Cannot wait to return.
Went to Aposto during restaurant week. Service was unbelievably slow. Waitress was nice but she was unable to speed up the kitchen. Food was good but we had to wait way too long for it. Also it’s an Italian place and did not serve any kind of bread with the pasta—inconceivable! Had the cavatelli. The homemade pasta was delicious. The atmosphere was loud with a large table of inebriated people nearby. I would like to try it again but I will not wait that long again.
Joe, our waiter is exceptional and knows how to accommodate every diner. Food was fantastic. I would suggest that large parties be seated privately as the rooms in this cool old house loses its appeal when the room is overtaken by a boisterous table. Ask fo an intimate space or room if so desires to hear your dining companions.
Service was outstanding, food excellent, and overall experience once again delightful!
Diner out with friends. Great meet-up place and outdoor porch. Try the Perfect Manhattan!
We've never had a meal here that was not over the top in being perfectly prepared and plated. Excellent wine and service.
We had an excellent meal and service during DSM Restaurant week. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a high quality meal with unique ingredients at a moderate to higher end price point. Definitely worth the money you will spend for your meal!
We went for restaurant week, and I knew from the first bite of my salad that this was going to be a fantastic meal, and I was not disappointed. They knocked it out of the park with every course, and Aposto is now our favorite restaurant in Des Moines! I can't wait to try their full menu and their brunch. Until then, I'll be dreaming of cavatelli and panna cotta...
Restaurant week menu was amazing..
The food was good but nothing special, I could have prepared it better at home.
The setting and waitress were wonderful, but the lady greeting us welcomed us by telling we had only one hour before other guests needed our table (for which we had reservations). Afterwards she called to say so lost the signed receipt and wouldn't miss out on the tip. It was awful and spoiled our night. We expected a romantic night out, but it was pretty expensive for not special and unfriendly experience.
Aposto has been our favorite go to Italian restaurant since it first opened. I saw the menu for restaurant week on line and we had to go. It was wonderful. My husband had soup, pasta and I had salad and pork. Both were excellent. We each shared the panne Cotten and the chocolate tort. Our waiter suggested the wine for the evening and his suggestion was perfect.
As always, Aposto did not disappoint. The food was amazing (polenta to die for). The service was impeccable, not overly attentive but not scarce. Great way to spend a birthday!
Aposto always delivers a great experience. Took the family to celebrate three birthdays and it was terrific in all aspects as usual.
Always awesome, love this place.
We made our reservation a month in advance and learned the morning of that it was no-corkage fee Thursdays! But honestly, I would go any day of the week to this charming spot. Our group of 4 really enjoyed the white wine mussels and pizza as starters. The lobster gnocchi and steak were also incredible. We lucked out with a beautiful evening on the wrap-around porch patio, but the interior was beautiful as well. I will be back — hopefully many more times!
First time for me here - and it was excellent! I’d definitely go back again!
Food was terrific. As was the service
Aposto was wonderful, as usual. Nice wine selection and great mixed drinks (old fashions) we had lobster gnocchi and salmon. both were very good. service was very good and a good noise level for me with hearing aids.
Best restaurant in the metro, hands down
Great spot for a date night or GNO. The food & service are excellent.
We have eaten at Aposto twice. Both times we have been seated in the bar. It would be nice to be seated in the dining area. I will try to remember to request the dining room or the porch next visit. The food is delicious and the service is good.
My daughters brought me to Aposto for a Father's Day gift and I knew I had to return and take my wife, so we came for our anniversary. I believe that you cannot make a bad choice on any part of the menu. The wait staff is friendly and encouraging, service was exceptional. Go, you won't be dissapointed.
We had our anniversary dinner at Aposto and it was fantastic! Will definitely be back!
Celebrating a birthday and were very pleased with the food, service and ambience. This was our first visit and we will be back! The 3 course menu for $30 was excellent and very reasonably priced. We had the pork belly ratatouille special and the cavatelli. Both desserts we tried were wonderful - chocolate torte and panna cotta. Our server was terrific and very helpful. Just sorry we hadn’t tried Aposto sooner!
Southern Italy Pop up dinner with great friends.. Adam was serving and he drank all the wine . Lol he was fabulous and the wine recommendations also.
Chef Shaun the food was fantastic 😃
NYC pricing in Des Moines? Wow! Thankfully, the food lived up to the price. Service was slow, but the late summer evening breeze kept us happily lingering. Truly enjoyed the gnocchi with lobster. Most memorable was the saffron and apricot ice cream. Noisy inside, so the terrace is the way to go, weather permitting.
Everything was wonderful. I went to work this morning and shared the fact we need to have our next corporate meal here. It was fantastic.
First time here and it was a delightful evening. Our server was friendly and attentive plus offered comments on the menu. I highly recommend the mussels small plate and gnocchi main course. For dessert, the ice cream special was saffron apricot which was a cool, refreshing sweet ending on a hot day. We would have sat outside on the porch if it hadn't been so steamy outside, but hope to do so the next time we're back.
Innovative, amazing Italian menu. Best polenta and gnocchi I’ve ever tasted. I compare every Italian meal to my Italian grandmother’s cooking, and this one stood up to her cooking, and then some!
We had a wonderful anniversary dinner on a Saturday night. Reservations are recommended. The menu is limited, but it all looked good. One special was being offered. Service was friendly and attentive. I inquired about one of the red wines, and our server asked if I wanted to try it first, which I did. We weren't wild about it so that taste helped us pick a different bottle we liked better.
We tried the pizza fritta to share for an appetizer. It's a small pizza that was really good. Excellent crust, topped with pesto, mozzarella and prosciutto. I love salad, but in looking at the table next to us eating their salads, I was glad we'd gone for the pizza fritta, because it was really yummy.
Since we were celebrating, we had a chocolate torte and the carrot cake. The cake was perhaps not the best I've ever had but it was passable.
Overall, a pleasant and delicious dining experience.
Aposto is everything I look for in a restaurant! The food is always cooked to perfection. The atmosphere is like no other you’ll find in Des Moines. I love how cozy it feels and it’s not noisy. It’s our favorite place to go to dinner!
Some of the best service and food I’ve ever had!! I have already recommended Aposto to a number of friends!
