Yummy meal - friendly and cozy. Great place to take friends and easy parking!
Aperto and its sister-restaurant Bellanico are perennial favorites; we love the food, service and the care that's taken in choosing wine pairings. Thanks again...we'll be back!
A wonderful little neighborhood restaurant with a very friendly and efficient staff. Four people tried three different entrees and we were all very pleased with what we ordered!
This was our third visit and will definitely not be our last!
I had a dinner with family - tapas style. We loved every single menu item! Great place!!
cauliflower fritters were good but had a little too much mashed potato; everything was excellent: Arancini, tomato basil soup, tagliatelle pepata, butter beans/rapini/cippolini, hearts of romaine (Caesar salad)
Always enjoy this underrated gem! Wonderful food and a friendly staff.
What a wonderful dinner! Carlos and the rest of the staff truly know how to make you feel welcomed. We ordered all of our items family style and what a great idea it was. The short ribs are on pint and hands down it may be one of the best short ribs I have ever tried. We can't wait to visit again
My husband and I love each visit we make here. Each dish is unique, flavorful, but still 'takes' on dishes we like. I love all the extra touches given to each dish to make it different enough that we never feel we can easily stay home and have the same food.
On this visit, we loved the stuffed clams in a fantastic broth.
Also the burrata cheese with beets to pile on delicious bread.
We both ordered and enjoyed one of the daily pasta specials.
Wonderful meal with very inventive dishes, and great service. The ambiance is warm, casual and convivial.
Had a great experience here when we met friends for dinner. We benefited from the restaurant being less than 50% full on a Wednesday night. Our server, Anton, was very attentive and kept our Prosecco flutes charged throughout the meal. The butternut squash ravioli, clams spaghetti and the spaghettini special were all excellent as were the olive oil/almond cake and amaretto creme brûlée special. Will definitely return.
This is a neighborhood staple, but it still delivers -- especially like it for lunch, when sun fills the room. Servers are always sweet and helpful and, now that they've included their brunch options on weekdays, there are almost too many options. Only not "exciting" if you don't value consistency, quality, and commitment to community.
I went for Sunday brunch. The coffee was mediocre, but the table wobbled so much I was clutching my coffee cup the whole time there. Apparently all of the tables wobble a lot - the folks who sat down next to us ordered juice, and their table wobbled so much that the juice almost overturned onto our table.
I ordered the short rib hash. The short rib was not fork tender, as it should have been, and my poached eggs on top (not a special order, but what was on the menu) were tiny, maybe twice the size of a quail egg. And one of the poached eggs had only half of its yolk - it had broken while being poached, and half the yolk drained out while the other half was completely cooked.
The cornbread muffins that came gratis was also just ordinary. The staff had to be chased down to get refills on coffee, and the coffee accoutrements were cleared from our table while we were still drinking the coffee, so we had to chase down staff again for stirring spoons and Splenda.
I would only recommend this place if you want a quick bite in the neighborhood - the food did come out quite fast. I found nothing special - kind of disappointing considering how long the place has been open.
Recommended by a local for good food. Given I am from out of town, I gave it a go. Food was just ok.Flavors were lacking. Cauliflower fritters were too mushy and would have been better with some texture left to them. Their dipping sauce was lacking some flavor. Salad was overly mayonnaise like and again lacked flavor. We also had the pasta dish the waiter said they are most known for and for me, it was just ok. I personally wouldn't go back.
Most was good; the red wine risotto needs to be reworked. Like dropped. Glw
Always excellent - a SAN FRANCISCO gem! We've been going to Aperto for more than 15 years and it never disappoints. Delicious pastas, roasted meats and veggies. Flavors are clean and fresh. Love this place.
Always authentic delicious Italian cuisine at Aperto. Unfortunately was cold and breezy at our table as windows needed to be open for ventilation.
Great neighborhood spot with excellent food. Very accommodating staff
Delightful as always. Excellent food. So agreeable to splitting dishes to make a many course delicious meal.
First time here! We will come back. Great Food, great service
Wonderful eatery, laid-back vibe, terrific food -- the Pepati and the Burrata are favorites -- and it's just a pleasure to eat here.
Great place, good food and reasonable size portions. Kid friendly (but go on the early side).
The new menu is excellent. It keeps the traditional Aperto dishes, but adds splendid new ones.
I've been coming to Aperto since the 1980s. I LOVE this restaurant. Thanks for keeping Pepati Tagliolini on the menu. The French Toast is the best I've ever had.
There was a large table that delayed our kitchen service. Wait service good otherwise. Best puttanesca I've ever had! Soup was a bit watery and would have benefited from adding cream or butter. Salad was delicious and beautiful presentation. Warm Chocolate cake was "ok", not notable. Great value. Excellent homemade pasta. Great neighborhood unpretentious restaurant. Nod kids there this evening which was great! (I like kids just don't like ill behaved ones which are more cases than not). Would return. However at about 9:30pm a wait turned empty chairs in top of tables and dimmed lights while people were dining. When called out, they stopped. Time to go home????
Just a great Potrero Hill neighborhood restaurant!
The waiter, Anton (I believe) thought we were dining and dashing after already having had our card scanned and signed, leaving a very generous tip, and very loudly and emotionally made that known. It was very embarrassing. He was very lacking as a waiter throughout the night. My signed receipt was found by their register. I made reservations, and when we got there, the only options they gave us were squished in between one packed, loud table and a table with kids in the corner between them on the same bench; by the restroom, by the door, or by the kitchen. The door kept getting stuck open, and let cold air and rain in on a stormy night. There were plenty of open tables mind you. They then gave the table we wanted to a group of three men who came in after us with no reservation. The pasta tasted like a one-pot dish. Extremely poor service. No ambiance.
I always look forward to spending New Year's Eve at Aperto. It was wonderful again this year. Nice special options as well as having the regular menu available. I've been a regular forever. And, hope to continue.
We were cold the entire meal. I think this is winter in SF though(we sat by the door)...but most patrons left their jackets and coats on. Food was good. Enjoyed the arancini.
Excellent quality food, ample portions and great service and choices and cozy corner cafe amongst neighborhood homes in SF.
My friends and I have been coming to Aperto for years. It's consistently excellent - the food is wonderful, the service is attentive without being overbearing, and between the daily specials and the seasonal menu updates, I can always choose whether to try something new or find an old favorite. I can't count the number of times I've been here or dishes I've tried, and I've never had anything I hadn't thoroughly enjoyed.
I've recommended Aperto to anyone who even mentioned that they'd be in San Francisco around dinnertime. That's how much I like this place If you're looking, try them out. I think you'll be pleased with what you find.
