We went on a Friday night. Our server was super nice. We ordered the Brussel sprouts and hamachi appetizers to start. We got the Brussel sprouts in fairly good time from what I remember. However, the hamachi appetizer did not come out shortly after. After more waiting, my husbands tonkatsu dinner arrived. I ordered a roll and we both order nigiri sushi as well. My husband had finished his entire dinner and my food still did not arrive. A few min later our hamachi appetizer arrived. I was telling the server to just cancel our nigiri order and asked where my rolls were. He said the sushi chefs were behind this evening and they were actually coming up shortly. It would have been nice to have ate my rolls at the same time as my husband was eating his dinner. I almost feel like they shouldn’t allow so many people to sit and dine if they can’t handle the rush. The wait was extremely long. I’ve never had to wait this long for my sushi. The Brussel sprouts were overly seasoned with I think tonkatsu sauce? I think if they had put just a little it would have been great. Overall, probably would not come back here.
Black Cod Entree and Green Matcha cake dessert was exquisite. Service was excellent. Can’t wait to go back.
Arthur the bartender is a mixology genius! Dude makes a delicious Paper Plane. Rowa our waitress was very professional and knowledgeable. Overall a great experience last night.
Excellent and very yummy!! That night it was very quiet!
The food & specialty cocktails were delicious once they were finally served. It took almost an hour to receive sushi our order. Take out next time!
Great fish. Somewhat slow but it’s the coming out of the pandemic. Great location. Large parking lot. We will return often.
The restaurant is located a bit away from downtown, which is a plus for me, with ample parking space and very pleasant, tree lined, relaxing area. I'm glad this location has been revived with several dining options.
The sushi options are numerous, which could be a bit tedious to go through. We ended up asking our server some recommendation which she gracefully obliged. What we ordered
tasted very goo, and the sashimi were fresh .
Wait staff is very courteous and accommodating.
Value-wise, it's a bit pricier compared to similar places in the adjacent cities.
The location though is nice and quiet, off the oft-times busy downtown restaurant strip.
Staff did not seem friendly nor helpful. Overall experience was drawn out and painful.
Love the food and service. We ordered salmon sashimi, Aozora roll and crunchy tuna roll. Had sake samplers. Likes the matcha cake. All excellent! (Did not like scallop roll recommended by the waiter).
But don’t go there on hot evenings. Their high ceilings result in inefficient air conditioning. The diners next to us left because it was so hot inside.
Food was fantastic as always, but on this occasion we ordered a second round of sushi 35mins later we hadn’t been offered a second drink and the food never came. We eventually cancelled the order and got the check. Loved the food, but the service left a lot to be desired this time which unfortunately tainted the whole visit. Food not arriving is one thing, but not even being asked if we’d like a second drink while we wait is getting basics wrong..
Great service and awesome food.
Quality of fish was not the level you would expect for the price they’re charging. Sushi rolls were nicely done and good to look at. Expected better quality tastes.
Pretty good, but not a special experience at all
a bright new sushi option in contra costa county, extra time and dollars were spent on the decor and the service was tremendous as well!
Very good sushi and sashimi. Nice vibe outdoors.
Best sushi in Danville!
Food quality is excellent and they have a good menu. They were busier then they were prepared for and our sushi took a LONG time to come out (we waited 45-50 min from ordering). Server was very nice but a bit slow due to amount of people.
Service was great - the food was over priced and mediocre at best. The chicken Teriyaki was dry and the sushi roll I chose was tasteless. The best thing we ate was the vegetable tempura.
Food was very good. Still eating in a parking lot. Vegas priced sushi.
Can’t see returning.
Terrible service. Avocado in sushi was hard and bitter not ripe. Food took over an hour!
I’ve had cravings for sushi and don’t know the area. Found this spot and found the reviews favorable. We arrived at about 6:30 and were promptly seated. We chose to sit outside because the reviews indicated the inside was loud. With music playing and a full house on Friday night, I don’t think a normal conversation would be possible.
The food was fresh and flavorful. We opted for some sushi rolls and were not disappointed. The drinks from the cocktail menu are unique and offer fun choices while there is a full bar for other options. The service was a little slow. I am not bothered by this as I know many places are running short handed with lots of guests wanting to eat out. Overall, this is a spot we will visit again.
The kitchen was off the mark. We had reservations were sat immediately (our choice) inside or out. We chose outside because inside was very loud.
We ordered within 10 mins of sitting. 1 of the 2 appetizers arrived 25 mins later. We had to call our waiter over to see what was going on with the other appetizer and the root beer ordered still hadn’t arrived. He said the kitchen was backed up so 3 of us ordered another beer.
Meanwhile we continued to wait we saw a waitress on the side patio taking care of each of her tables, apologizing comping appetizers, edamame and crab cakes and more, 2-3 per table.
Another 20 mins we waved down a different server and asked if our beers were coming.
Our server came by and asked if what we needed. He explained the sushi was backed up and I let him know we still hadn’t received our other appetizer. He said he’d go stand by the counter and wait for our food. Our food finally came 1:05 mins after we ordered along with the other appetizer.
We realized we were still hungry and put 1 more roll in for order….long story short 45 mins later we got that roll.
The over booked the place of the sushi chefs cannot keep up. Our server brought edamame with our check and said it was an apology from the kitchen.
It’s unfortunate, because we dine at sushi at least 1x per week and after all the rave reviews we really wanted to like this place.
Extremely disappointed and we won’t be returning. I’m still embarrassed that we suggested this place to our friends and our friends night out turned into a complete disaster.
Save your money for a restaurant and server that respects your time and go to Bamboo Sushi in San Ramon…amazing food and service.
Two of us went for dinner on a Tuesday night. The place was busy and got busier as the night went on.
We arrived at 6:30 and it took awhile for the waiter to come over. Once he did we received our drinks and edamame quickly. Then we had to wait 1 1/2 hours (no exaggeration) for our two rolls to show up. The waiter never checked on us, another party of 6 who arrived after us got their food before we did. This was unacceptable for TWO rolls.
Good thing I was with a friend I had not seen during Covid so we were able to catch up. There are too many good sushi restaurants in the area to deal with this type of service. The food was good, but by the time it arrived I didn’t care.
The food was mediocre. We usually go to Taru but they were closed that day. We didn’t order the tempura but saw it as it was being brought to another table. We plan to go back for that dish. My drink was very good.
Been here twice and the food was legit both times. Really good quality sushi and really all the dishes are good. Service can show some improvement though. Like you should clear the table before you serve the dessert amongst other things. But over all I really like this place. Will be back.
We have been here a number of times and it's great. The quality is really good and the food is always consistent. We love it there.
I’m not normally in Danville but I was at the park with friends and we came here for lunch. The food was amazing, fresh an delicious. I would drive back out to Danville just to eat here again. I highly recommend this restaurant.
I've eaten here twice now and the service and food are always top notch. We were seated right away and even though we had a corner table outside away from everyone, we were always checked on. The food was delicious and served quickly. I would dine here again and definitely recommend it.
Good sushi and drinks. Took awhile to get food. Service was nice.
Great food, drinks, and ambiance. Service was a bit slow and food came out inconsistently but other than that it was great!
Lovely night on a busy Tuesday evening. Our drinks were wonderful and the food lovely (to look at and enjoy)! Wonderful setting amidst the redwoods in a very quiet spot outdoors...especially with the nice cooling breezes.
The food was excellent. Service was good, but a bit mixed up. The brussels sprouts were delicious. The fish was super fresh. We are absolutely going to go back.
Big city level food and drink in the suburbs! Very friendly but very unsophisticated staff…need to up the service standards to match the food, but will definitely be back again and again.
Birthday dinner for 12 and service and food were great.
Another fabulous dinner! Incredible Brussels sprouts, Lion King roll, double Hamachi roll and Toro Toro roll. We will definitely be back! PS. Great Long Island Ice Teas too!
Went here for the 1st time and only spent 35 minutes having dinner. The staff was completely absent minded and didn't pass by our table to remove trash or ask us if we wanted any more food or drinks. The food was fantastic but the service was dismal. No way would I drive back to Danville for this restaurant considering it has such high ratings. This was a special occasion for us that really bombed
Amazing ambience, food came out quickly and was so delicious.
Fish was fresh. Saki by the glass a bit limited. Some of the fish appeared farm reared. A decent sushi place for the suburbs.
Attentive service, drinks were very small and pricey, food quality good.
Excellent graduation luncheon! Thank you!!
