Experience wasn’t good, and I will not go back. Every time I go something goes wrong with the service or the food. This time, we sit down and one of the bread plates was super dirty-no one noticed and no one came to change it. They brought milk for the coffee that had bread crumbs it.
We ordered 2 sandwiches and a burger (veeery easy order !) and they managed to bring us the wrong sandwiches, change them, brought one of them again wrong, change again, in the meantime they also brought us a wrong burger, changed it, the second one was also wrong, took the plate away to go investigate what Table does that burger belong to, them came back to us with the same wrong burger saying “er...was a kitchen mistake, you know, there are so many burgers laying around...there will be no charge for the caramelized onions” ( What if I DON’T WANT CARAMELIZED ONIONS ON MY BURGER?) - which is not an acceptable excuse in a hot spot location such as this anyways, by now the cheese on our food was not warm and melted but a cold brick, and the fries .. well..cold fries. Yum!
The busboy tried to take my plate away while I was obviously still eating, and the general communication between waiters and busboys was very poor. The food is not of good quality and it’s WAY OVERPRICED for what it is. Cute place but cmon, New York ( and the village!) has so so so much more to offer. I know mistakes happen in the kitchen/with the staff but if the food is not so good and also expensive, well then we got a problem ;)
Oh also, the place was not busy.
This place has a nice outdoor patio which is great for dining but the food is terrible so I can't go back to eat there unfortunately.
Cheeseburger and black linguine were barely edible. Waiter was beyond rude. We asked for butter for the bread (that we also had to ask for) and he questioned us that it was at the bottom of the basket (it wasn’t). He came back later and said that they were out of butter. That was very had to believe. Skip this spot and wait the 30 min for Buvette down the block.
After several excellent dinners, went for Sunday brunch. A little less special, perhaps, but still of very good quality. A few service glitches did not interfere with a good time.
Simple and tasty french food. Can get loud during brunch.
Love their food and the Groupon Deal was the best!
Good pre-theatre option for the West Village with attentive service, good hearty food, and relaxed ambiance. Will certainly return.
Interesting but typical French menu. Good for my adventurous son who enjoyed muscles for the first time, and for my conservative daughter who stuck with the baked chicken and fries. I went with the EXTREMELY RICH seafood risotto. Good cheese selection, and standard French Onion soup. It was a friendly environment and nice larger space behind the seemingly small restaurant front. However, we didn't realize until we left that there was great live music (2 men and guitars) in the front room that we couldn't hear from the back. Be sure to ask about live music when you arrive so you can chose to sit near it if you like.
Really great staff, the food was great, very intimate vibe. Great for all occasions, will definitely return!
I arrived way before my guest and was welcomed. Yes, she was fashionably late but loved our meal, the atmosphere, music and crowd.
Cozy French bistro. Mussels & frites, of course, but also some lovely subtle chicken prep, and other stuff we haven't tried. We'd go back.
Great dish with shrimp, scallops, mussels, spinach and mushrooms but next time I’d ask for it without the croustillant shell that tasted like it had turned
Always authentic food with great flavor. Go and enjoy.
Great spot. Visited for drinks and snacks and Sunday brunch.
Overall, a very pleasant French spot in the Village, fairly reasonably priced. Our appetizers were both good, but we were both disappointed in the duck confit was frankly tougher than it should have been. Also, there was a big time gap between appetizer and entree. Service was otherwise good and attentive.
Have eaten in the rest fir years. Food and service is skeet’s good. Love the garden in nice weather. A reliable neighborhood place.
Very nice meal, great service and value. We’ll be back.
Fun time and great deal at happy hour with $5 French wines/beers and $1 oysters , $4-$5 appetizers. Fish entree with huge side of mixed veggies was fabulous. I even got to practice my French. Looking forward to going back soon.
Service could have been better and live music much too loud for that small room and too close to diners. Otherwise, meal was very good.
Loved it !!! Been here for get togethers and birthdays.
Love this neighborhood Rest the food is always good. The people who work there are friendly. Can’t wait for the warm weather to eat in the garden,
Food here was great, but it was really crowded, and the tables are REALLY close together, so we felt a little claustrophobic. It was loud. And so dark you could barely read the menu. Despite the fact that the food was very good, we probably won't go again.
Service was a little relaxed but a decent meal at a decent price. Cocktail menu needs an update, and the menus look dog eared.
Always a nice place for a decent french meal. Nice staff. Happy Hour is good value as well.
Bad experience.
Could use better bread (was definitely frozen) otherwise good. Very romantic!
20 anniversary
Everything was fantastic. The food was a triumph! Every bite was perfect. The service was fabulous. I love this place.
Wonderful food and wine. The service was excellent and we all enjoyed the meal. We went to AOC for a birthday dinner and couldn't be happier with the experience. The background music was at a reasonable level and we were able to enjoy our conversation. The banquet seating was comfortable for all 5 of us.
Reasonably authentic French preparations with Francophone staff, though they were sometimes a bit inattentive. Foie gras starter excellent, but avoid the tarte tatin, soggy and with... raspberries? Mon dieu!
Fabulous, down to earth, solid french bistro food. Wide assortment on the menu and something for everyone. Staff is helpful with good service and a nice selection of wines to chose from. Definitely can't go wrong here.
Food and Wine was delicious! Can’t wait to go back!
The service was great. Food too salty. Had to return the carrot ginger soup. My boeuf bourginon was also too salty, cut of meat should have been better for $29.
Salad nicoise was fine.
I’ll start by saying the food was very good! However, the server was terrible! Unattentive, slow, and not very helpful. We had to keep asking the bus boy to send our server over so we could order drinks. I will also say the restaurant was not busy so there was absolutely no reason for such poor service.. What really set me over the top was I had indicated it was a Birthday celebration on my reservation and there was no acknowledgement of it and the lava cake we order states it takes 15-20 minutes but 40 minutes later it still had not come. We ended up leaving before the cake because we were on our way to the theater. When I told the manager that the service was terrible and that I paid for a dessert that we never got... his response was I’m sorry! My answer to him is I’m sorry because I will never return or recommend your restaurant! I am sure there is an establishment that will happily welcome my 400.00 dinner!
Anniversary dinner. Spectacular as always. Casual, relaxed atmosphere. Delicious food. Great service. Highly recommended!
Very nice and cozy atmosphere. Value and taste of the foods were awesome. We will surely come back here.
We've been patronizing AOC for over 15 years; we've brought friends and family over the years
We had a Groupon and the meal was very good but the cost of the bottled water kind of offset the entire Groupon. We've eaten here 3 times and each time every single item was a bit too salty. Entrees were perfectly nice, better than a fast casual restaurant, salad nicoise and a special of cassoulet. Server was -- to be nice, a bit clueless, as every time we've eaten here -- asked how the cassoulet was and she said her dad had eaten it elsewhere and liked it -- . Hostess was smarter but we found we were billed a WHOPPING 7 DOLLARS FOR EACH OF TWO 8 OUNCE PELLIGRINOS. Folks, you can get a litre for 2 bucks easy at the grocery store. Left feeling extremely ripped off with a lame "Sorry about that" from the hostess. Warning - if you didn't get it -- don't order sparkling water, they only have one size and it's 7 bucks for the price of a bottle of half decent wine. Go the the San Pellegrino website and you can buy a case of 24 for 17.99. That's not just a rip off, that's a rip off with the INTENTION of ripping you off.
Tucked away on a prime West Village Street, AOC delivers! Fresh French dishes in an inviting setting.
