I have walked past this place numerous times and it looked really charming so we decided to give it a try. It was bad from the outset. The waitress never cracked a smile and made us feel like she was doing us a favor by being there. She was downright nasty. We thought the food might make up for it but that didn’t happen. My chicken was inedible, the duck confit was incredibly salty and our tarte tatin could have been mistaken for baby applesauce. I have never written a bad review of a restaurant but this was just so bad that I felt compelled to.

Server was terrible, brought wrong diss, agreed to take it off the check and then didn’t. Management would not rectify. I used to enjoy this space - I’m sorry one server ruined it

The overall atmosphere was energetic like a typical French bistro. The food was very good, but almost every dish seemed to be lacking just a little bit of something. The soup and sauces could have benefited from more depth and the mixed drinks seemed a touch anemic. Also, the kitchen seemed rushed, in that our entrees came to the table while we were still finishing our appetizers. Overall a good and pleasant bistro meal, but with these small shortcomings.

There is a reason AOC has been thriving since it opened in 2003: Excellent food, wonderful atmosphere, and even more wonderful staff. Our server, Jessica, could not have been nicer or more attentive and friendly. And Sebastian made us feel as if we were visiting his home. An amazingly memorable evening full of great food, laughter, and warmth. What else can one possibly expect from a restaurant?

The ambience and location are so charming and so classically West Village. We enjoyed a brunch, many classically French dishes plus some more continental to appeal to a couple of our picky eaters. The service was great but not rushed. All of our food was delicious, and the waiter was able to answer questions about some specialty dishes that were very helpful. I really look forward to going back!

The place is really exactly what you want in a small french restaurant in NYC. It's quaint and bright, cute decor and a really warm environment backed by excellent food. We had a croque madame, nicoise salad, and omlette and each were fantastic.
