We just love this restaurant! Excellent French food. Cozy ambiance. Absolutely recommended!
Returning for a special occasion, with special friends. Two in our party ordered something that was no longer available, which was disappointing, but did not affect the overall celebratory nature of the evening. The food and drink was, for the most part, very good. We had the back dining room to ourselves until the last 15 minutes or so, when a very large and very loud party arrived and made it difficult for us to carry on a conversation, so we left a little earlier than we otherwise might have done.
I have walked past this place numerous times and it looked really charming so we decided to give it a try. It was bad from the outset. The waitress never cracked a smile and made us feel like she was doing us a favor by being there. She was downright nasty. We thought the food might make up for it but that didn’t happen. My chicken was inedible, the duck confit was incredibly salty and our tarte tatin could have been mistaken for baby applesauce. I have never written a bad review of a restaurant but this was just so bad that I felt compelled to.
Server was terrible, brought wrong diss, agreed to take it off the check and then didn’t. Management would not rectify. I used to enjoy this space - I’m sorry one server ruined it
A little expensive for the ambience, but the food was well prepared, and service was good.
French, as it should be. Great nabe, too.
The overall atmosphere was energetic like a typical French bistro. The food was very good, but almost every dish seemed to be lacking just a little bit of something. The soup and sauces could have benefited from more depth and the mixed drinks seemed a touch anemic.
Also, the kitchen seemed rushed, in that our entrees came to the table while we were still finishing our appetizers.
Overall a good and pleasant bistro meal, but with these small shortcomings.
Excellent bistros! We enjoyed everything that came out of the kitchen.. and service is excellent!
There is a reason AOC has been thriving since it opened in 2003: Excellent food, wonderful atmosphere, and even more wonderful staff. Our server, Jessica, could not have been nicer or more attentive and friendly. And Sebastian made us feel as if we were visiting his home. An amazingly memorable evening full of great food, laughter, and warmth. What else can one possibly expect from a restaurant?
The ambience and location are so charming and so classically West Village. We enjoyed a brunch, many classically French dishes plus some more continental to appeal to a couple of our picky eaters. The service was great but not rushed. All of our food was delicious, and the waiter was able to answer questions about some specialty dishes that were very helpful. I really look forward to going back!
The place is really exactly what you want in a small french restaurant in NYC. It's quaint and bright, cute decor and a really warm environment backed by excellent food. We had a croque madame, nicoise salad, and omlette and each were fantastic.
Great food, good service and great atmosphere!
This was a very pleasant meal in a very nice restaurant. I loved the service! They were so kind and obliging. It was the perfect place for a delicious dinner and an audible chat with a friend. So often it's hard to hear in restaurants these days--the music can be overpowering. Loved the coq au vin.
Needed a table for 16 people. AOC delivered! Service and food were excellent.
Always a good choice for lunch or dinner in the Village.
I went for brunch and the staff was mildly enthused that we were there. The food was okay but on the plus side, my mimosa was very boozy. There are so many other better options if you want a French breakfast in NYC that won't almost cost as much as this. I will give the dinner menu a try as it's highly recommended by friends.
Their menu has very good French standards. We enjoyed our burgers and risotto. The service was a bit slow for a half-full small room, but the food would bring us back again.
Food portions were nicely sized. The lamb sausages & fries was very satisfying. Dining partner's hamburger & fries looked yummy.
The truffle mac & cheese was very & hearty
Great dining experience. Waitstaff was superb. Would highly recommend to friends.
The perfect neighborhood French restaurant.
Classic French dishes with a sprinkling of American tastes, and American-size portions.
The demi poulet aux frites is fantastic
Outdoor garden on warm January Sunday .
We had a great time - everyone at the bar and at our table was helpful, made Great recommendations, and make sure we had a great night
We felt the service was slow and staff inattentive (the restaurant was practically empty when we were there)
Portions were nice and the French toast was very good but the eggs Florentine was ok.
Just to note: The prices in the restaurant are slighter higher than what is posted on the opentable web site.
Gorgeous place and great food. A bit overpriced at $18 for a bowl of soup. But oh well! Had a great time!
Our server failed to give details of the specials. This was the first time this happened at A.O.C.
The servers in the past were very accurate and explained all the specials and other questions we had.
Still an EXCELLENT experience.
This is a restaurant that never fails to impress. Always great food. Eat early if you want to avoid crowd or noise. Wines are incredibly reasonable so grab a bottle and enjoy yourself. Personal recommendations: Le Croustillant de la Mer is superb and unique, Mussels are always a crowd pleaser, and the Daurade is one of the best.
