French Wine Bar + Bistro.
$1 Oyster everyday, Daily Specials, Wine pairings, Live music, open till 2am on Fridays and Saturdays. 2 happy hour per day from 4PM to 7PM and from 12AM to 1-2AM
My friend and I dined here for a busy Saturday dinner. My friend likes A.O.C. on Bleeker St. and this place was nearby, so we decided to give it a try here. The entrance just looks like a hallway with a bar, so we were a little doubtful at first. But this place is a gem! Food is amazing, nice servers, noise level is a little high but energetic and cozy atmosphere balances it out. Will def come back!
Took a while to get wine list and then we didn’t receive 2 of our food orders. Orders showed up on tab which we got removed.
Love this restaurant - the food and atmosphere are perfect for sharing with special friends, events.
What a great spot. We usually set up and eat at the bar. This is our first time seated. It was great. Cozy, fun, lively and a great meal.
A bit loud
My favorite local haunt...great wine selection..of course...tuna tartare app. Is terrific.
Great food and service
Cramped space. Doesn’t look like pictures online. Good wine and food but weird music and too loud. Empty
It was loud and chaotic and crammed.
Always good. And always well priced. Always happy to dine at AOC.
Wonderfully flavorful food in a relaxed ambiance. Will definitely dine here again
Next to very loud table. Service was slow. Cow au vin not up to par.
Nice ambiance and great food!
A great neighborhood bistro. Good food and service.
We went for the burgers. They were good but the fries were not hot. Service is good. Restaurant is very noisy and very dark. Good local place. Nice staff.
The food was excellent, and the portions were generous. Service was very courteous until the very end, wishing us well on our way out. I can only highly recommend this restaurant.
Server was awful and lied to us about mussels turning poisonous when boxed in order to avoid packaging our leftovers. I assume he was just lazy as he put very little effort into serving us.
Brought two friends who had no idea that AOC had an upper east side location and they absolutely loved it.
My family and I eat here regularly. There isn’t anything on the menu that will disappoint. Great place.
Great restaurant! Really good wine selection and ambiance! Our go to spot
Food was ok. We ordered two salads. They were average. The burger for my son was good. Escargot good. But that came the same time as the other meals. My salad came 40 mins later
This place is going to have big issues when Quatorz opens up down the block. This vs Jean Claude? Not even close
Charming place. But I won’t be back. So many other bistro options in the vicinity. And it’s not exactly a cheap mean...
Food was pretty good but not a standout for the four entrees we had. Service was pretty good. The water was always on the table and refilled which was great but sometimes we were looking or waiting for the waiter. But he was very nice and accommodating. I really don’t like arriving at a restaurant with a reservation and there is no host or hostess in sight. That was the case this time and last. Finally we had an obnoxious French guy at the table next to us who dropped his drink twice, his fork three times, wreaked of cigarettes and complained incessantly and loudly about the escargot. But that’s not the restaurants fault. Overall I like having this place in the neighborhood and would return.

Cute place. Good wine. Nice food selection. Overall pleasantly surprised. Will come back.
Very cozy and warm atmosphere, great food and service! Also, live music
We brought family for dinner and they loved everything about it! The food, the service, the price! It’s long been one my my favorites and it’s always nice to have others feel the same way?
My parents and their friends were looking for a nice but easy spot for a Sunday dinner get together. The adult age children and parents in all families were impressed by the choice, the food, the waiters, all of it!
One of the best dining experiences I've ever had in Manhattan after living here for 3 years. The food was incredible, The sommelier/ owner was amazing-- picked us out the perfect wine based on my description of what I was feeling. He was also our host and our waiter, clearly very passionate about what he does. Every detail of the food, drink, and service was exquisite, thoughtful, and detailed. Can't wait to go back!!!!!
They lack French food and had almost none of the things we wanted to order.
The waitress had an attitude.
The value to price was far from matching
Our Friday go to neighborhood restaurant for a casual freindly dinner.
Great ambience and service. Delicious food. Wonderful date night spot.
Service was slightly slow when it came to actually ordering, but the food, ambiance, and everything was great.
Great experience overall. Honest and knowledgeable food and wine recommendations.
I have never had anything but great food at AOC.
Love this place! Excellent wine and service
Nice staff, very good food and nice wine list. It was a bit warm in the room but other than that a very nice evening.
One of our favorite restaurants in New York! Cozy Parisian vibes, delicious food and an extensive wine list. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, great happy hour and romantic lighting - perfect date spot.
Nice family-friendly French. Good way to introduce kids to French food.
Well-priced wine list.
Service a bit cool and inattentive but not rude.
Food good with exceptionof duck confit which should be fall-off-the-bone teder but was not. Needs longer low temperature cooking and aging in duk fat to acheive that. Other things (steak, lamb, salads, charcuterie) were excellent though.
My girlfriend and I went here for my 43rd birthday dinner. We ordered the Foie Gras Flan and Fricassee de Champignons, and French onion soup as appetizers. For our mains I ordered the coq au vin and my lady ordered the Classic Moules Marinieres et Frites, but she didn't want the french fries. After expressing that to our server, whose name I didn't get, she ordered something else, I believe the hangar steak. After a few moments, our server came back and told us that he consulted with the chef, and that he could make her seafood pasta instead. She delightedly accepted.
The Foie Gras Flan and Fricassee de Champignons was exceptional, though as seems to be the norm with this type of dish, they only gave us three toasted crostini. Double it, please, at least! The French onion soup was delicious, and the cheese was very gooey and nutty - which likely meant that they used actual gruyere instead of normal swiss cheese, which is a big plus in my book! I sat there for at least 5 minutes peeling the excess cheese off of the bowl. However, the crostini had fallen into the soup bowl, and was a soggy mess. The bread served with French onion soup is supposed to be used to dip into the soup a bit at a time, not to dissolve into it.
The coq au vin itself was sumptuous, though the double spoonful of fettuccine that they unceremoniously dumped on top of it was decidedly not. This is a stew, and would be best served over rice or a bed of potatoes. My girlfriend's seafood pasta was wonderful, and the fettuccine fit much better with that dish. My lady ate way more than she had intended, all but licking the plate! I remember saying to my girlfriend, "This food was made with love."
All together, it was a very good experience, though it could have been better, with a few small tweaks. The atmosphere was great, with lots of little details in the decor that was fun to notice were there. The service was fairly prompt and polite. I'll definitely go back.
