Went during COVID times but really appreciated the indoor dining option - it was safe and gave me a sense of normality. The food was great and because it was me and my partner's anniversary, they provided us with a complimentary dessert plate. The service was amazing also. Only downside was that the ambience was a little dark and because there were not many people in the restaurant dining with us, it was a very quiet atmosphere.
Beautiful spot, nice for romantic rendezvous or quiet catch up dinner with a friend. Also good before ACT Theater show.
I was very disappointed. Had cabaret tickets at Feinstein’s and had heard you could reserve your table in advance if you ate at the restaurant so we thought we’d give it a try. Made 6:45 pm reservations. We waited in the bar. A few minutes after 7 I inquired on status and hostess told me there were people ahead of us and she’d seat us as soon as she could. No one was proactive with letting us know what was going on and that they were sorry reservation time was off. She didn’t seems concerned about us being rushed to make an 8 pm show. She said we could order in the bar. We weren’t thrilled with the arrangement needed to eat before the show. Service there was very uneven with silver not preset, and being brought after food served. My shortrib was very good, but portion was tiny and it was an entree. My friends tempura was good, also pricey. Everything there was expensive so expected a lot more. I love the cabaret in the hotel, but will just come early next time. The restaurant is an overpriced so so option.
Our waiter took forever to bring anything. We didn’t get our drinks until our food came. She never checked on us and She wasn’t able to give us any recommendation on the menu, when I asked her about one specific dish, she didn’t know anything. The food wasn’t the best I ever had. The prices are too high for such mediocre experience. I won’t go back.
Nice restaurant in a fancy hotel. The staffs are extremely friendly! I'd give them more than 5 stars for the service! Food is delicious too. We had dinner here in order to get good reserved seats for the show at Feinstein's downstairs for the night, also received 15% discount at Anzu which is the new perk. Pretty cool. Very pleasant experience.
Very impressed with the quality of Sushi at this restaurants
The reviews and score don’t do it justice
Stopped by for lunch on our way to the Golden Gate Theater. Very close for a short walk. Great!
Went for a business lunch and had surprisingly few fellow diners. I had the Ahi Poke Bowl. The ingredients were all separated completely, none touching, which is a bit unusual. All the ingredients, especially the tuna and seaweed salad, were delicious.
The service was attentive and prompt but never showy or invasive, an excellent balance. I would definitely go again.
The service, food and cocktails were excellent. It was a bit pricey, but perfect for a before-show (at Fienstein's) meal. I'd definitely dine there again.
this restaurant is just so much fun - from The Rock - a literal rock that is heated to 500 degrees so you can heat up raw Wagu Beef on it (and then dip in 3 yummy sauces) to The Fog desert (a ball of chocolate and raspberry that sits on a plate surrounded by a moat of dry ice that, when water is added, makes a nice fog!) it's all excellent and such a fun presentation. The sushi is super fresh and the duck was perfectly prepared, skin just crispy enough, while the meat remained moist - and such an interesting combination of flavors.
The service was just right and the place has ambience to burn - sure, it's a bit pricey, but hey, it's SF after all...
ANZU is in the Hotel Nikko, beautiful restaurant. Fantastic wait staff. Good selection of sake. Started with THE ROCK 22 (thinly sliced wagyu beef coulotte cooked tableside on a sizzling Japanese river stone served with a trio of sauces - WOW absolutely out of this world and first time to have wagyu cooked on the stone. Eat the ANZU CIOPPINO which was delight in a bowl! Fresh ingredients, wonderfully prepared and plated. Make this restaurant a must-do!!
We were surprised with complimentary bubbly moscato like I asked for. Server JAYMEE was AMAZING!! She checked on us made sure our dinner was nothing less than perfect. At the end of our dinner we were given a complimentary dessert that said Happy Anniversary. Highly recommend this place!
We went here on Valentines Day with a prix fix menu. I normally have zero issues with not having options. The only good part of the meal was the oyster to start. The remainder of the food was bland and not appealing in any way. Service was horrific, the server only checked back one time. Service was so bad we had to go to the bar and order our own drink refills. A pretty simple dinner took over two hours to complete. I will not return to this restaurant.
The menu was limited and it was quite overpriced for the offerings. That being said, it was a lovely ambiance and the food was excellent. The fact that we got a same-day reservation on a Friday night that was also Valentine's day... I think that says something about the restaurant. Generally overpriced.
Excellent food
Very good ambience
Service was terrific
Would recommend
Another absolutely brilliant meal. Thank you again. We cannot wait to come back.
very good. staff and cooks outstanding
Nobody in the restaurant for a business lunch in the week.
Good food, service ok.
I had the 'tasting menu' - and it was the most disappointing set of food I've ever experienced in San Francisco. The chicken choice - was a boneless chicken breast - cooked as a giant chicken tender like one might purchase at Kentucky Fried Chicken - the breading was so salty it was almost inedible. The service was so slow - cocktails we ordered as we first sat down arrived after the first course and wine had already started arriving. the fish was so smokey you could barely tell it was fish. both entrees came with chewy unidentifiable disks of undercooked vegetables. the chicken with tan disks that nobody could identify and the fish with purple potato (our best guess) cooked till gelatinous. It was horrible and incredibly disappointing considering the price.
I had a buffet breakfast during a large conference - not typical for the restaurant. I have tried the restaurant previously and the food and service was excellent.
Ciiopinno; seafood was overcooked , broth was forgettable .
Absolutely terrible
Amazing seasonal wine paired four course meal. I will definitely be back.
The food was subpar and they ran out of the lobster. Not what anyone in the group expected from a typical Anzu experience
Enjoyed a very good brunch with excellent service. Love the ambiance and the fact that there is such a low noise level. Excellent choice for lunch or brunch.
Lovely place to celebrate anything. Always great food and service
Unfortunately the service at Anzu was not good. We had tickets to a show at Feinstein's and informed our server of our timing. We ordered drinks and dinner at the same time and one of our guests received his glass of wine in a timely manner, but me and our other guest ordered cocktails and didn't see anyone for 15 minutes. We finally got our first course and had to ask the person dropping off the food to check on our cocktails. The interesting thing is the restaurant was fairly empty, so I'm not sure why there was such a delay. A neighboring table that sat down before we did also had tickets to the show downstairs and they got their meals later than we did.
Maybe dinner recommended... since i went for lunch not many choices....
We enjoyed a very nice anniversary dinner here. All the staff we interacted with were very warm and friendly. We had "The Rock" as a fun appetizer to share. The black cod was delicious.....perfectly cooked and the broth was light and very tasty. The prices are good for the ambiance, food, and service. This is a great choice for a quiet dinner or business meeting.
Love the taste of the food. The Restaurant furniture and the kind help of the staff
Quiet early evening dinner the day after Christmas. Gracious prompt service and delicious food. Highlights were the Cod main course and Brussel leaves appetizer. Waygu beef on hot rock was fun and tasty. Sushi rolls were decent but didnt stand out. Overall we had a great pre-theatre experience
Service is very slow. Waited 20 min before they took drinks order and additional 20 min to get it served. Why are 20% tips already on your bill when you get it? I would never have given this amount due to the poor service!
What a let down. My wife, son and I visited Anzu for Christmas dinner buffet. We hadn't been here for many years but had fond memories of their KKSF Jazz brunches so we thought we'd give them a try. We were packed in like sardines with barely room between our table and the one next to us. We were also seated right at the main entry to the restaurant and pathway to the dinner buffet so there was a constant flow of people right by our table. We asked if we could be moved before we got settled but our request was denied. The food was premium priced but was not premium quality. Pretty standard buffet fare. The service was friendly but not too efficient. I might give them a try again for a sit-down lunch or dinner but definitely will be crossing them off the list for future Christmas meals.
I've been here for Christmas before and was so disappointed, when they say the buffet ends at 11am, they mean it. Our reservation was for 10:15am and by 10:38am, they gave us the check and we were rushed out by 11am. Efficient yes, lovely time NO. Don't bother going, you'll feel unwelcome.
Have nothing to complain about . Great food and enjoy it very much with my loving Son ! Christmas Eve 12/23/2019
Food is great, I ordered the Black Cod, it's served with Dashi (Japanese style). It's really delicious. However, the children menu needs some upgrade. I expect something like chicken teriyaki or japanese style bento for children menu, but the menu is mac & cheese, hot dog, grilled cheese.
My husband and I had the best service at this restaurant. Ahcene was wonderful! All of the dishes we had were amazing; tuna tartar, the rock, the duck entree, and the 72 hour short rib. If I’m ever in town again I will definitely return.
The wine pairing with Korean food was awesome. The cod was out of this world. The waiter was incredible. The price was reasonable.
Presentation was beautiful. Food was just “okay”. Nothing that would make us want to rush back
Michel was our server and couldn't have been more helpful! We usually always come to Anzu when in the city since the food and service is always outstanding!!!! And we recommend this special place to many.
