Just finishing cleanse and staff very accommodating with food restrictions. Great food and service!
We had a great meal. Service was a little slow because I think there was an RSA crowd.
We went there for my partners 50th birthday. It was our second time there, and just as good as the first. The staff is great. The food is great. Great wine list.
Loved The Rock! Delicious sauces and cocktails!
Food was great. The Kimchee fried rice was just ok. The Rock dish with the wagyu beef was very nice. Never seen that before. The 3 course dinner still had me feeling a little hungry afterwards. Ambiance was nice and quiet. Good for conversations. Will come back for a special
Delightful fusion of contemporary California and Japanese. Artfully displayed and nicely presented on the plate. Excellent service--almost to a fault. Not complaining, though. The alternative is never seeing your waitperson after being seated. My wife thought that the duck breast was on of the best she's ever had. I'm a salmon lover but don't like my fish under-done. The chef (who no doubt is an expert at creating sashimi and sushi) cooked it just the way I ordered it. I appreciated that! We would go back in a heartbeat. Lastly, they were aware that we had tickets downstairs to see a show at Feinstein's at the Nikko and that we were celebrating a birthday that evening with one of the persons in our party. Nice touch to get us done in time for the show and to remember her birthday with them coordinating with Feinstein's by presenting a complimentary birthday dessert to our friend.
Great spot before theatre! Full bar, lovely pan Asian menu.
I have this as the nicest place to dine in dowtown San Francisco. Have been their customer for ever. Chef is great and the Sushi is among the best you will get anywhere.
Good spot for dinner before a show at Feinstein’s.
I enjoyed it! The charcoal grilled meals were delicious.
Lovely spot, nice food, nice service, great before show
The Rock was delicious, and so we're the hangar steak and filet mignon.
Very nice and great sushi
Here is a review for the Easter Brunch. I have been at Anzu a few times prior so I am familiar with the food and service. However, the Easter Brunch selection was good but the quality was underwhelming.
Awesome experience. Quiet,
Service was slow even though the restaurant was not busy. Our sushi roll fell apart. For the price it was mediocre at best.
The sushi was quite excellent. The Japanese barbeque was ok, largely due to the Thai curry sauce lacking authenticity.
The ambience and decor and both wonderful. We have a very attentive wait staff but they weren't overbearing. Our courses came at timely intervals and everything we ate was so good. I know everyone raves about the duck but the miso cod was amazing!
They have this wagyu dish where you cook your own paper thin slices on a stone and dip them in the most amazing selection of sauces.
It is called “The Rock” and you have to try it
Great place! It is inside a hotel. Very nice and elegant. I like the sushi and duck. Good place to have a conversation.
My wife and I spent a weekend in the city. Anzu was our first stop for the weekend. Food was great service outstanding. The duck was absolutely amazing. Definitely will return.
The ambiance is slightly dated, but its a rare oasis of peace and quiet in the middle of a super busy part of town. Highly recommend for friends or couples looking to converse without going hoarse or fighting a crowd. The waiters were extremely kind and attentive, and food we ordered was wonderful Japanese bento box fare. I would definitely go here again for quiet get-away in the heart of the city.
Wagyu on a Rock was excellent. Lots of thinly sliced beef and the server replaced the rock when it cooled down slightly. Nice sauces. The sushi roll was good as well. Easy to get a reservation even when other places were booked with convention crowds. Nice an quiet.
Loved this place. I dined on my own and was able to experience all the stops that ANZU pulls out.
40th Birthday lunch. Beautiful birthday dessert presentation!!
Very nice restaurant.
The only thing wrong is that you must remember then about Open Table Special more than on time.
Great good. Recomend The Rock :)
Perfect for date
Suffers from the common issue of over describing food that just doesn't live up to the menu. Tofu and eggplant were misconceived, and calling it 'camponata' doesn't fix anything. Sweet potato tian and ceviche wonton tacos also underwhelmed. Raw fish was good but expensive.
The wine list is overpriced and the beer list insipid (at best), but everyone enjoyed their cocktails.
Service was very formal but friendly.
High hopes. A little under delivered. Food quality great. Service a tad lacking.
Excellent food, excellent service.
Friendly, efficient staff. Love the choices of entire menu or two-course / three-course options. Excellent salads.
Anzu is located on the second floor of the Nikko hotel on Mason. We arrived a little early, before it opened for the evening, had a drink and talked with the friendly bartenders. We were then shown to a window table and had an incredible dinner. The service was outstanding without being intrusive. There were other dates, families, and gatherings of friends, but nothing got in the way of the experience. My wife had Sushi while I chose an incredible steak. This is in our lists to visit on the next trip to San Francisco.
We really enjoyed Anzu. The atmosphere was great along with the service and food. Really enjoyed The Rock.
Brought my daughter here for the first time. Being in a rush before a 6:30 play, James was so considerate and helpful!!! He suggested we continue to relax in the lounge and he would make sure our meal was the first one out. He brought everything to us, allowing us to relax and not rush thru the dinner. We both had the salmon and it was delicious. Can't wait to return!
Staff was gracious and warm. Service impeccable. Food was lovely.
Everything was good , except the server. Very slow and careless service!
We really enjoyed this restaurant. We came the night after Valentine’s Day, the service and ambiance was amazing . Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable. He really made our night special. I really appreciated our server going over the courses and giving recommendations on wine. “The rock” was our favorite dish! We will defiantly be returning to this restaurant.
