After a number of prior visits with excellent service and pretty good food, Christmas dinner was disappointing. I had the wait thirty minutes past my reservation time for a table. I had to actually ask for an ETA re when I could expect my table before anyone acknowledging the wait.
When we finally received our table, I expressed my frustration to the hostess and manager and they seemed stunned that I would be frustrated.
When we are finally shown our table there were at least five empty tables that would fit my party of four.
After this start, the food was mediocre albeit it was a buffet. The quality was much better at past Christmas buffets. All in all a very disappointing visit. They overbooked the tables and did not plan for the number of reservations.
Christmas Dinner was not worth the price. It was too loud, tables crowded too closely & I was seated in bar area under the TV after asking for a nice view table. Not a good experience.
Good food. Expensive. Automatic 18% tip (which we knew about) for buffet is ridiculous. Wine >$18/glass and they fill 20% of the glass. Love the variety of a buffet and like the dining area but you definitely pay an excessive price. This is our 6th time for holiday dinner at Anzu and the food this time was by far the best experience of the 6 times we’ve been.
My family dines here on Christmas each year. The buffet is excellent and is a good value when compared to other hotels.
We were visiting SF for the Christmas holidays and after much research decided on Anzu for the Christmas Day buffet. Worst decision! The food was below average, they must have the most untalented chef !!! While the menu sounded great the execution of the dishes was poor. The only dishes that somewhat met my expectations was a squash soup and a savory bread pudding. The buffet was $75 per person and was barely worth $25 ! For a family of four I paid$425 and was sorely disappointed! Our dinner next day at Bouchon more than made up for this mess they called a dinner. Their deserts were store bought pies and cheese cakes . I have written reviews for open table in the past but have never received a response, so let’s see if they post this review
Everything was excellent when we dined at ANZU on Christmas Eve. The food was incredible as well as the wine. The service was very friendly and gave great recommendations for food/wine. Thank you
Food was delicious and well prepared. Liked having both Sushi and steak options for our group.
Sushi and crab ravioli were good, but Caesar salad was bland and sauces for beef cooked over the hot Rock were also very bland and tasteless.....
Everything was ok but Not a single dish was remarkable. At those prices they should be over the top remarkable.
For the most part it was pretty bland. Pretty place but expensive!
Had a great time at Anzu. Sushi was fantastic and the service went way beyond great. Look forward to going again next time I am in the city.
Food quality was good, quantity was sparse. Service was very slow, and busing quite curt. We won’t be back.
Awesome experience. Wonderful food at a great value and great service. Last minute Friday night choice and got a reservation for 2.
With the creative cocktails, service and the inspired, tasty food, it is always a pleasure coming to Anzu. A great place to share with someone who appreciates great food and ambiance.
Always the most amazing experience! The food is yummy and the staff is flawless!
Lovely room, great service , good sushi. Only issue we had was there were two diners who were quite loud and since they were known to the restaurant, employees came over to their table frequently to chat. These visits made it too noisy for us to hear each other talk. Small complaint.
Great place. Nice staff.
We’re very disappointed in this restaurant. The food was mediocre at best and actually less than that as far as our main course was concerned. This is a never to do again.
My group of 4 found Anzu when we were looking for a place to eat after a matinee show at the Curran. We had dressed up for the occasion so we were particularly drawn in by the swanky ambiance and appetizing drink menu. There were so many delicious-sounding items on the food menu, it was difficult to decide what to order! Several people at the table did the 2-course prix fixe, others did rolls or steak, and dessert. Everything was really tasty and the service was amazing (in particular, our waiter, Ason, was super attentive and friendly). We felt so fortunate that we were able to grab a last-minute reservation - for how good our experience was, we would expect it to be much more difficult :) Looking forward to returning in the future!
We’ve gone to ANZU a few times before. Last week seemed extra special. Great staff and very good food and drinks
Everything was fantastic. The food, the service and the ambience. Will be going back real soon.
The Open Table description should state that this is in the Nikko Hotel. Typical Hotel fare, overpriced for what you get, and the sushi was mediocre at best. If you want to see a Sushi menu with the option to get pasta, then this is the place for you. Otherwise, go elsewhere to seek a true sushi experience. So many other better options.
I've been coming back to Anzu for the past 14 years every time I am in San Fco. Have tried others out, no way they could compete. Back to Anzu. Never disappointed. Great service and management in addition to lovely food and the best Sushi you ever tried.
Enjoyed the food
Great but parking is tricky and some may not know it's inside the hotel
Food for thanksgiving was good, but not great. Huge mistake not having whipped cream for the pumpkin pie, that’s a must!
Fantastic experience. Great food and a wonderful staff!
This is a place where there are so many fabulous dishes that if you can’t decide on just one, order several to share! This foodie even got to practice a little français with our server, who was perhaps one of the friendlist and accommodating servers we have ever met! We practically wobbled out from being so full.
Nice quiet place for a leisurely-paced brunch w/ friends. Good variety on the menu coupled with attentive service.
